Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to an ethical strategy and it is integrated
into the business model so that it can be successful. The CSR of a business goes beyond the
regulatory requirement and a firm engages itself with actions that can contribute to the social
good. It is indicative of a management concept by taking recourse to which a firm integrates
environmental along with social concern within the operations of a business. CSR can help a
company in balancing the economic, environmental along with the social imperatives. I think
that it is important that a business should be socially responsible as it can help in empowering
women, help environment and end the poverty in the world. The social issues can be at the
local or at the national level and concern for well-being of other people can be said to be
commendable. In the event of a business being socially responsible, the image of the
company is bolstered in front of the public. It helps in the projection of a positive image that
can help in making a company financially profitable. There are company like XEROX that
has been able to grow successful owing to the CSR initiatives taken by the company. The
initiatives have helped them in being named within the “100 Best Corporate Citizens List”.
The projects called Green World Alliance and Electronic Industry Citizen Coalition has made
the company immensely popular among the public. The founder of TOMS shoes witnessed
the hardships of the children of Argentina who could not afford shoes. They gave 60 million
shoes to the children that helped in addressing the challenge that was faced by community.

There are four alternative views pertaining to ethical behaviour. They are utilitarian
view, individualism view, moral right view and justice view. The utilitarian view lays
emphasis on the impact that a decision can have on other people. It discusses whether a
decision can be of good for a large number of people. Utilitarianism can be said to be

normative ethical theory that stresses on the outcome pertaining to choosing of a policy over
that of other policies. The individualist view lays stress on the fact that how behaviour can
encourage the long term self-interest of an individual. The moral right view of the ethics
elaborates on the fact whether a behaviour is within the ambit of human rights act. It lays
stress on the fact that privacy of an employee should be respected. The moral right approach
conceives that human beings have got fundamental rights and an ethically direct decision can
help in maintaining right of the affected people. The moral rights approach lays stress on free
consent, privacy, freedom of conscience and free speech. It states that the fundamental rights
should not be violated that can help in the creation of an organization that is just. The justice
view in relation to ethics discusses about the fairness of a behaviour. It revolves around the
fact whether a decision shows fairness and is impartial. Legal rules come into the purview of
justice view in relation to ethics. It stress on the fact that people should not be treated
differently based on race, religion or that of gender. It harps on the fact that everyone should
be treated equally in an organization.
