This case study will define the ideas and approaches which can be used for enhancing the
business performance and how such measures can be helpful in meeting organisational
objectives. The study will also highlight the human resource functions which will be helpful in
maintaining performance standards of bakery and how a product portfolio can support in driving
benefits for the bakery. The case study will also outline the importance of functions for the
business plan and will lastly define some recommendations through which bakery can maintain
effective performance in the industry.

In the case study, it can be seen that Martin and Emelia run a bakery and a shop in
Central London which has a attached factor where breads and cakes are manufactured. The shop
have a top selling product which is the bread which has been manufactured by the shop and both
the owners are looking forward to organise the business performance of their employees which
will be helpful in enhancing overall business performance through providing them payroll and by
introducing pension scheme and will ensure that all employment legislation are followed

business. The owners of the shop and bakery will also focus on organizing effective training
sessions through which they can enhance the skills of their employees and focus on employee
development which will be an helpful strategy for improving overall organisational performance
and productivity. The business will also focus on marketing and will promote their business
through social media platforms through which they can attract more number of customers and
generate higher revenues which will also be helpful in establishing a strong brand image in the

In order to enhance the performance of bakery, Martin and Emelia needs to focus on
several human resource function which are discussed below:
Recruitment- In order to enhance business performance by recruitment, Martin and
Emelia must create a strong recruitment strategy through which they can attract and hire
the most desirable candidate who can effectively manage all business operations and
contribute in enhancing the overall business performance (Alasadi and Al Sabbagh,
2015). Martin and Emelia must use applicant tracking system through which they can
track all applicants who have applied for the vacancy in bakery. They must focus on
creating a diverse workplace through which they can promote cohesive image of the
brand in the industry. Martin and Emelia must also use diverse candidate sources
through which they can connect wit h different candidates and recruit the most desirable
candidate for the business who can engage in managerial activities and contribute in
enhancing the overall business performance by achieving all desired organisational
objectives and will also be helpful in setting brand image and bench mark in the industry.
Training and development- This function of human resource management will help
Martin and Emelia in understanding the training requirements of their employees by
assessing and observing their performance through which they can all employees are
willingly participating in managerial activities and will contribute in performing
effectively through which they can maintain the organisational performance ad
productivity. By offering effective training, this will provide development opportunities

help them employees to regularly invest some amount of money which they will receive after
retirement through which long term benefits can be met.
By following all business functions it will ensure that the bakery is following all
employee legislations and governmental protocols.

generate higher revenues, maximize business profitability and maintain effective business
performance and productivity.
