Introduction
The given assignment is based on the travel and tourism sector and to perform the entire task
Barcelona city has been selected. In this assignment, all the key elements and factors related to
travel and tourism sector are demonstrated as this sector plays one of the crucial roles compared
to the other sectors of industries. In order to conduct this project, the group of students is
required to travel to the city of Barcelona and observe as well as explore all the factors of the city
which includes its political factors, technological, cultural, economic and social factors. All the
intrinsic factors are highly analyzed and implementations are based on that particular
perspective. In order to analyze all the factors in a more accurate form, SWOT analysis is
performed. Thus, all the positive and negative factors are deeply analyzed in the given context.
1. Background and Context of the project
The city is termed as one of the most subtle destination point with respect to the travel and
tourism. The aim of this assignment is to design and develop the best digital brochure on the
basis of travel and tourism destinations in Barcelona. Therefore, several features and facilities of
the Barcelona City are reflected in this given context. All the crucial factors including the
climatic conditions, accommodations, transportation and many other intrinsic facts are briefly
discussed below.
The exciting trip of Barcelona has provided a vast opportunity to everyone to learn and
understand difference issues that arises in the field of travel and tourism sector. Moreover, the
main objective of this assignment is to develop and enhance the skills as well as knowledge
related to all the social and cultural facts in different society.
2. Analysis of trans-disciplinary models/theories
The management system in travel and tourism leads to demonstrate several dynamic issues that
arise in this industry in order to fulfill the needs of the potential customers. In order to complete
the task, the entire team is required to maintain a proper coordination and learn the value of
teamwork. In order to achieve the targeted goal, Dunn & Dunn model can be applied.

This is the model that indicates several activities and instructional procedures. The model
highlights two intrinsic activities such as:
 Understanding the learning methods and style of an individual
 Implementing and planning of learning activity.
Learning is the most effective part of this assignment for which the model Dunn & Dunn is been
referred. This model provides all the necessary ideas that should be applied by the students in
order to support their procedure of learning. By the end of this assignment, all the groups are
assumed to gain all the knowledge and overcome all the challenges through the experiences
gained from the trip of Barcelona.

Risk assessment
In order to develop the digital brochure, the team and me need to have a good research skill that
can help in preparing a good result. There are many areas that arises after the research conducted
by the group. The risks that are associated with this project needs to be addressed for
understanding the anticipated results of the study trip. Therefore, for identifying the risks and
overcome them effectively, there is a need of a risk assessment plan (Flin and O'Connor, 2017).
As already mentioned about the political condition of the Barcelona, which is not stable. It can
be risky for travelling to that city. Thus, the security and safety of our group can be a concerning
issue. Hence, it is essential for our group to utilize to remain connected with each other by using
the internet-able devices such as tablets and Smartphone.

3. Project phases
To develop the digital brochure, it is essential for the team to research all the possible points that
can be included in the brochure. It is required for the group to prepare an accurate plan that can
be implemented in order to achieve the preferred outcomes. Moreover, travelling comprises of
several activities and operations with a proper coordination of the group members in a particular
time span.

Preparation
Initially, our team comprising of five members had a discussion regarding the learning contract
and the deadlines. In order to achieve the target of the project, all the members of the group are
highly suggested to coordinate and pre plan all their activities. Preparation is termed as the
intrinsic fact to this project. The reason to choose Barcelona city for the project is the attractive
views and traits of this city. These features of the city will lead to motivate the students and lead
them to stay focus to their target.
Planning
Planning is the most primary and curial part of any task (Allmendinger, 2017). With the help of
proper and accurate planning, a group can achieve their task objectives. We all highly
recommended each other to conduct the planning in such a manner that will lead them to the
ultimate goal. Moreover, coordination is the essence of the project for the group. As a group, all
our plans were accurate and were executed properly leading to achieve our target of the project.

Implementation is termed as the final part of the project that states the overall work done
(Merriam and Tisdell, 2015). Due to the humble nature of the members in our group, all our
planned activities were executed in a versatile manner. As per the planning of our presentation,
the members of the group were all focused and did research to gather information to provide a
factful information that can stand out of the crowd. After analyzing the facts, we started planning
for our next week's objectives in a constructive manner.
4. Skill developed for solving work-based problem
During the course of action, the team members often faced situations that they were un aware of.
The course of information that we planned on researching was flooded with information, which
were majorly manipulated for marketing purposes. Hence, to utilise genuine information for the
work, a lot of research was undertaken. The members of the team understood how to select the
most appropriate information. Research skills, communication skills, and designing were some
of the skills that I developed during this group work.
Communication skills and team work
In order to maintain the proper standard of communication, a WhatsApp group was created by us
together with using the emails. Not only has this, interacting with the people of Barcelona,
leaded us to gain various skills and knowledge with respect to their culture and religious beliefs.
Due to the effective communication that was adopted by all the members in the group, all the
members demonstrated a brilliant teamwork (Fidalgo-Blanco et al., 2015).

Technical skills
Digital brochure was successfully created by us as a result of proper and effective technical skills
applied from our end. Thus, in order to do this project, all the members of the team have
struggled and collected vast technological information and data related to the travel and tourism
of Barcelona. Thus, while doing this project, our group’s knowledge was increased, and we all
got more familiar with the use of Gmail, WhatsApp and other kinds of digital communication
tools.
Interpersonal skill
While doing this project, I gained the confidence to negotiate with other on the project which I
previously lacked. I personally experienced working in a team. In addition to this, I also
understood that I have good non-verbal skill that I can utilise for future prospects.
5. Analyze and evaluate the action
The entire group was active in all the activities that were performed for this project. Many
discussions were held, and several outcomes were created. Thus, it was crucially important to
work in an effective way and coordinate with the other members of the team in order to finish the
project successfully. The main focus of this project was to encourage all the members to take
active participation with respect to their responsibilities. Many of the tasks were effectively
executed by us due to the efficient coordination between all the members of the group. At the
end, all the members were equipped with essential knowledge, skill and experience that will help
in the future aspects. Notwithstanding, it was sometimes tough to get all the necessary
information, but all the hurdles were overcome by us.
6. Learning from the project
The project provided us an opportunity to develop our knowledge and learn different social and
cultural facts. Moreover, all our basic and essential skills were enhanced that will enable us to
face any kind of challenges in future. While doing this project, all the crucial factors related to
the city of Barcelona were analyzed as well as all the methods that can be applied to solve the
risks and issues. In order to do so, we learned to negotiate and deal with different kinds of
people. Several methods and theories that can be applied to the future aspects had been learned

by us. The value of teamwork and the effective measures are the points that are learned by us
through this assignment. Moreover, we became very friendly with the use of emails and
WhatsApp. According to me, the major part that enabled to finish this project in a successful
manner was the communication skills that were developed by all the members of our team.
Thus, to enhance more of our capabilities, we could improve and work on our skill and develop
them to make the best use of it.
Conclusion
Therefore, from the above assignment it can be concluded that the team work with a proper
coordination can lead to overcome all the challenges and issues. Thus, the aim of this project was
to learn and develop the skills in travel and tourism sector from the trip of Barcelona. For
conducting this task, various processes were involved like for example implementations,
planning and preparation. Moreover, it had been accentuated that the poor economic condition
and the weak political structure can affect the tourism sector of Barcelona in a negative manner.
With respect to this factor, the best thing about this destination is the beautiful landscapes that
attract the tourists to this spot. Hence, several skills had been reflected in this assignment that is
required to be enhancing professional and academic skills.

Formation
Experience
In the first week, formulation of a group occurred of 5 members post the
module introduction and confirming the group that I was in.
Reflection
After being introduced in the module, I was very nervous as to what role
was, I supposed to play. I was completely unaware of my skills and did not
know how to pursue the group task. After being nervous for a while, I
communicated with other members of the group. The group members were
highly confused as to how to proceed with the task, since it was important to
pick up a project.
Learning
As mentioned in the Gibb’s reflective cycle, which consists of 6 process, at
first, I was feeling quite nervous, however, as I wanted to be a part of the
project, I decided to talk to my team members to understand the task and
bring clarity in my work. I started to analyse the discussion, which led me to
the first task, which was confirming on the project. Our team was supposed
to take a project which would lead us further in to the work and based on
that, we were supposed to create an action plan.

After a lot of discussion and analysis, we were allowed the task for the
digital brochure of Barcelona as our selected destination. However, before
proceeding with the work, the primary objective was the “learning contract
destination”. We also brought forward the positive and negative points for
clarity. However, the positive factors dominated the discussion as the
country has a good environmental factor, technology friendly and had a very
strong positive feedback for the tourists. During this conversation, one of
our members walked out of the project stating that the member was unaware
of the learning outcomes and is completely lost as the other members were

discussing about the roles and responsibility.
Reflection
In my opinion, I was confused like the member who walked out from the
group. However, I did not walk out because I wanted to experience the
process and gain knowledge and experience in group work. The member
who walked out of the group might have influenced other members as well
to walk out sooner or later but, I spoke about team work and the way on
how we should operate to ensure that we fulfil the objectives of the task that
was allowed.
Learning
In this situation, I learned that every member must be responsible for their
work and should do their work to make sure that the work is distributed
equally. However, the fault of the member was to leave the group without
understanding the concept which was not expected by the other group
members since everyone was more or less still trying to understand the
project and its process.

Experience
After a thorough research of the work, the members of the group shared
information about the packages, deals and suppliers for our selected
destination which is Barcelona. Every member of the group brought
information and we, after a thorough discussion selected the right deals that
were suitable for us. However, during this conversation among the members
of the group, the member that left in week 2 showed up and stated to join
the group. We as a team discussed the problems that the member had, and
she stated that she was hesitant to proceed as she was not confident and was
nervous.
Reflection
In my opinion, the member of the group who left, took a good effort to
make herself understand about the concept of teamwork. Even though she
