manner. It is also adopting major changes in business that helps them to overcome of
competition factor. This project report includes impact of unplanned and emergent change in the
hotel. It also includes guidance provided to Rita for considering planned approach for change
along with consideration for organisation development approaches. Moreover, it also consists
conflict face by Rita for implementing change.

Unplanned change is those change which are not identified by business as needs to change and is
made due to change in organisational environment. It is important for a business to identify
needs for changes in business in order to improve efficiency of their organisation. There are
some other factors that create negative impact over operation of company (Cano, Murray and
Kourouklis, 2022). In context of 'Barnacles, there is new competitor enter in this industry in local
area which create competition for business. It creates impact over operation of firm and also its
profitability. In order to overcome of this competition, Rita Clement needs to adopt different
changes in business which are mentioned below:
Increasing cost: One of impact of implementing change in context of 'Barnacles is that it
will increase cost of company. Peacock hall business is providing different services to its
customers and in order to overcome of competition factor, business needs to also made changes
in their business. For this, 'Barnacles is making changes in its furnishing décor, carpets and also
introducing new indoor pool.
Lack of skilled and trained staff: Due to unplanned change, business does not have sufficient
time to provide proper training and development in business. It creates negative impact over
operation of company as they are unable to manage operation of business. 'Barnacles is a
business which is adopting new changes in business and due to which company is finding out
their employees are less engaged in work (Dumas and Beinecke, 2018). They are unable to
manage events and other service in organisation due to which time of social distance queue has
also increased. With unplanned change, business is also unable to manage cleanliness in business
that create health and safety concern.
