Basecamp Software
Basecamp is a project management software that is used for variable purposes
managing a project activity. The first ever project management software is the Basecamp also
the oldest software among all the other available. It has been available for the past ten years
in the world of project management. The features are group chat in real time, file storage and
documentation (Makhija & Goyal, 2014). The addressing of the software for the various
stages of project management is easier process to understand. For the initiation phase the
software explores and evaluates the project fully through automation. The functionality of the
software allows the project team to conduct the evaluation on its own. Taking all the
constraints of the project, the software prepares a list of points that compares the feasibility of
the project. If all the constraints are feasible then the software allows to move to next task.
It allows collaboration and this software is totally cloud-based. It has various features
such as it provides easy communication, the ability to collaborate helps the members to
communicate well and share ideas about the project among all. The communication is aided
by text, pictures, files for the member of a project. The next feature is the high accountability
of the application, the presence of to-do-list helps in keeping track of the tasks need to be
done, it allows the manager of the project to distribute the task along with assigning a
deadline to it (Weidner, 2014). It updates the members with the deadline and where a new
task is on the line it provides notification of a new task. It can be accessed not only be laptops
and desktops but also via mobiles with iOS or Android. The status of the project as well as
the individual task is easier to understand by each member of the team. The most interesting
feature of the application is that it enables the user to control all the tools at one place. Hence,
the interface being very friendly is credit to the application. For every project a different
document is created which holds all the details, files and all essential files related to that
project (Raffel, 2015). Another feature of this application is that the project manager can used

The file sharing is very easy with this software, even if the person with whom the
sharing of file is needed then the person doesn’t have to have an account in Basecamp
(Silvius & Silvius, 2015). If the sharing has to be within the project team then but the direct
method of texting with the members are carried out and directly sharing the required file with

Undertaking the project that I am doing is about renovating the bathroom of my
landlord. As basecamp does not have the barrier to have a group to perform project hence, it
benefits me to do the project on my own. I would make a to-do- list on the application of all
the steps I have to take to carry out this renovation plan. Then I will prepare a list of materials
the application by customizing it and can only use those tools which are necessary for the
project. It can be used on several platforms.
