Part 1: Business case
Introduction:
Battery Power sharing app is an application that will enable people to
share their phone charge to another smartphone wirelessly. This process
is a similar way to the credit transferring service in Etisalat company,
which a person can send credits from his/her mobile to another person’s
phone so they can call/text whoever they want. Anyone who wants to
use the “Battery Power sharing” function will need to download our
application on their device so the process will be completed
successfully. Our application will help a lot of those who forgot to
charge their phone due to their busy lives, as well as those who are in
emergency cases and need to use their phone immediately.
Business objective:
Battery Power sharing app is a perfect solution to a lot of difficulties
people are facing nowadays when their phone is running out of battery.
The aim of our project is to provide battery sharing from a phone to
another for those who need more battery for their phones urgently. In
modern society, everyone has their own smartphone. Unlike the old
days, phones are more than just for texting or calling, but it acts as our

mini assistant. It has all our important personal information stored and
we are able to do much more than before, such as posting on social
media, money transfer and even business document editing that’s why it
is important to keep our phone charged most of the time. With our
application, it can help anyone who has a smartphone and attracts those
who need to be on their own often, from teenagers needing to keep up to
date on social media to working adults who need to keep an eye on the
market, or even retired people who want to keep themselves entertained.
Therefore, on a business perspective, the application will be very
marketable as it is suitable for a wide age group and different users.
Current Situation and Problem/Opportunity Statement:
The current situation is running out of phone battery when out. The
problem is most people forget to charge their phones before they
leave their houses, or they charge them and stay out for the entire
day, thus they disconnect with others for a period of time until they
recharge their phone batteries. Disconnecting from the world might
result in many issues or delays, especially that many people don’t
have portable chargers, or they don’t carry their charger with them.
Assume that you are having a long road trip using the GPS on that
low power phone, or working on an important matter, or even you

are in the office or studying at university, all of these cases can
lead to delayed work and submitting it with a lower quality than
intended, as well as cramming a lot of work in a short time
resulting in stress. Hence, our team came up with an idea of
creating an application on the phone for sharing/sending battery
power that will help in solving the latter issues and reducing the
mentioned impacts. The application will allow users to share
battery power in a simple and convenient way, all they have to do
is installing the application on both phones to be able to start the
process. This application will facilitate charging, limit overdues,
and will Save time, effort and expense.
Critical Assumptions and Constraints:
Analysis of Options and Recommendations:
There are many choices for adopting this chance:
1- keep a portable charger with you, therefore your phone
battery will not drain.

2- Take you charger wherever you go, so if your phone battery
died you will be able to recharge it at any time.
3- Develop a new application that will allow you to share/send
battery from a charged phone to a low battery phone.
We think that the third option is the best solution, we came up with
this assumption according to the results after negotiating with
stakeholders.
Part 2: Project Charter and Estimates
Project charter:
A- Project Title: Battery power sharing application.
B- Project overview:
a- project description: This project will facilitate peoples’ life
from many different aspects, because sharing battery will
allow people save time, reduce effort, and lower expenses.

b- Business needs: every person that owns a mobile phone will
take advantage of our application. Being able to share battery
power will help many people who forget to charge their
phone, or lazy people who don’t carry neither portable
charger or a normal charger. Our business need is to profit
from this application by putting it in the market, we are
depending upon the number of people who will be installing
and using our application, offering the a month trial but then
they will have to pay a subscription fee with a handy price,
this is how we will be getting our revenue because we
strongly believe that our application will be beneficial for
every phone owner, and in the future our application will be a
part of every person’s life.
c- Expected benefits: The power sharing application will have
many benefits for everyone who carries a mobile phone.
Therefore, our main and only target is phone owners, which
is a huge customer base, because nowadays most people
carry more than one phone. As mentioned before, our
application will provide a brand-new service with decent
prices, people will benefit from it because we will offer a

solution to many problems that are caused because of dead
phones. In addition, people will be benefiting from the
application by saving their time, hence they will be more
productive and will focus their effort on other things.
C- Project Scope:
a- Objective : The purpose of this project is to create an application
designed for people to be able to share and send battery power
wirelessly to speed up charging process, and to prevent from
disconnecting from the world as nowadays everything is done via
smartphones, it will provide solutions to many problems, some of
which are delaying work, losing time, and stress thus low quality.

b- High level requirements: The high-level requirements for
designing of the application are:
1. The application should be supportable on all iOS and Android
systems.
2. The application should have high-level encryption in order to
secure the confidentiality of data on both the devices.
3. The development team should plan a design a fully functional
technical plan for gathering technical requirements.
4. A financial plan should also be designed after gathering an
entire list of the technical and other need of resources for the
development of the project.
5. The schedule of the project should be defined clearly by the
project manager and each of the resources should be clearly
described as per their designated roles.
6. The coding should be documented properly in order to help the
development team for post-maintenance works over the
application.
c- Major deliverables: The major deliverables that would be
included within the project are:

1. The user stories should be clearly defined. This would help in
explaining the ways in which the end users might use the
application.
2. The source code might be stored in repositories such as
bitbucket.org or github.com, which would help end users to have a
full access to the code.
3. A “Read Me” file should be provided for the users to gain a
knowledge about the installation process of the application and
troubleshooting during problems.
4. The guidelines for the usage of fonts, colors, design and several
other graphical elements should be provided before the start of the
project. This would help the application designers to gain an idea
for performing the future work of designing the logos and icons of
the application.
4. The logos, application icons and other designed elements should
be designed and provided before the application is made live to the
end users. This would help the owner and marketing team to
popularize the application on the social media platforms.
d- Project boundaries/exclusions: The boundaries or exclusions
within the project are:

1. The organizational chart for the project would not be provided
during the time of delivery of the project.
2. The networked level mechanisms would not be documented in
order to create an encrypted communication.
3. The security mechanisms would not be widely discussed with
the other teams involved within the project. The information would
only remain confidential within the development, testing and
networking team.
4. The application would not be supportable for phones other than
running on iOS or Android operating systems.
D- Estimated project duration:
a- Timeline: The project would initiate from 21/03/2019 and would
complete by 12/06/2019. Thus, the estimated range for the project
is 2 months. The expected duration of the project would incur all
the activities necessary for completion of the project. All the
incurred costs would be dependent on the duration of project.
b- Major milestones: The major milestones of the project are:
 Completion of the project initiation and planning phase
 Completion of application design phase
 Completion of application development phase

 Completion of testing phase
 Completion of designing of logos and application icons
 Completion of marketing phase and application launch phase
 Completion of project closure phase
E- Budget estimate (very high level)

F- Project assumptions/constrains/risks
a- Identify assumptions:
While doing this project, we have put several
assumptions under consideration we expect
happening in the near future:
 The application will be very marketable and
successful, as it is suitable for a wide age
group and different users.
 The project may take more time in developing
this function as well as the application.

 Making the application easy to use and design
it in a simple and clean design, so it can be
attractive for different types of users.
 The application will be used by users all
around the world.
 Having a perfect plan before implementing the
application to manage the time, so we can
finish it on the exact due date we decided on.
b- Constraints on the project:
We are hoping we don’t face any constraints during this project.
However, we must list and think of every possible problem that
may happen in the future. we are trying our best to manage the
payment costs of this project, so we don’t face any budget
problems while implementing the application. Our budget for
this project is 2,128,288 AED, so we requested Sheikh
Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum Funds for a 2,500,000
AED loan, as you can see, the loan is more than our budget
because we have to save 200,000 AED for any emergency uses.

c- Risk analysis:
The idea of our project is creative and has not been done before,
so to make everything successful we need a well-trained people
to implement everything required for this project. In fact, there
are many risks that we could face on this project if something
went wrong:
 Not finding qualified people to implement the application
and design it properly.
 Not having enough budget to pay the people who are
going to do the application and design it, and for the other
fees that might come up later during the implementation.
 Not finishing the project on the time that we are
expecting.
 Being delayed on a particular step, which will affect the
entire project plan.
