BAUHAUS MOVEMENT AND ARTISTIC REPRESENTATION
Introduction
The aim of the paper is to analyse the issue of modernism and social change as one of its
goal. Modernism is one of the philosophical movements that brought number of cultural and
social changes and some of them constitutesthe milestones of modernism. The idea of
Bauhaus date back to the time of late 19th century in the context of Europe which aimed at
reuniting the genre of fine arts and functional designs(Brittain-Catlin, 2016. It also enhanced
the need of creating soul of the artworks by discarding the traditional education of fine arts
which only focused on the adaptation of the theoretical understanding of the issue. Some of
the great masters of then art works are Marcel Breuer and Marianne Brandt who paved the
way for minimalism in a stylish manner (Eysteinsson, 2018). Considering the understanding
of modernism according to Peter Gay, it is essential to understand the fact that cultural
creation has been one of the central aspects of dynamic and consistent growth in all aspects
of the literature, music, drama, architecture and sculpture(Gay, 2010). The underlying factor
important factor will contribute to the understanding of the role played by political ideologies
and artistic creation as an outcome of the impacts of modernity. It is to understand the
linkage between social change as one of the goals of modernism and to ponder on the issue of
modernity and Bauhaus movement . The aim of this paper is to understand and highlight the
issue of two most prominent artworks of this time that will create the understanding of the

most prominent artworks of that phase have been the “ Red Balloon” (1992) by Paul Klee
and the “Yellow-red-Blue”(1925) by Wassily Kandinsky(Grushka et al., 2016).
In the first artwork, it is important to note that the artist has portrayed the beautiful piece of
art instilling with the tint of innocence the pattern of a master creation. This art piece is
themixture of art work with that of the geometric forms as it has taken a different pattern in
the body of the art piece. This artwork is named as red balloon due to the dominance of the
object occupying the central part of the art piece. This is known for establishing the link
between esoteric symbolism with that of narrative presentation of the geometric
composition(Klee, 2016). It is a portrayal between the figurative and abstract. Considering
the understanding of the maintaining from the point of view of the political ideology , it is
important to note that the distinction between the fine and applied arts have been the focusing
of the need of mixing the idea of art with that of the industrial design. The rationale for
including the industrial design is based on the context of the political turmoil and the social
context of Germany(Kuppers, 2019).The Bauhaus, an amalgamation of the art , craft and
architecture has been shaped by the on-going movement in the context of Germany. The
impact of creativity in the context of Europe has been the brainchild of modernism as it is
one of the most experimental school of thought that shaped the visualisation of art. This
maintaining in particular has been the depiction of the current political culture as Weimer,
one of centres of the movement have been under the extreme pressure of the Nazis and it
has been under the influence of the political ideology of that time. This art piece has been
the portrayalof the progressive education system of the time(Poon, 2019). It is in one hand
the portrayal of the vibrant colours, on it is the projection of the creativity and amalgamation
of two contradictory at the same time assimilative artworks.

On case of the second piece of art, yellow red blue by Wassily Kandinsky has been
projection of the three dominant colours and their geometric patterns, it is also the dual
division of the frame in order to draw the equal amount of attention for the colours and
patterns.Colourand shading has been used in two different ways to drive the attention of the
individual. The underlying understanding of the issue is the belief that manufacturing is the
future of the country and it is important for the purpose of the art to explain and amalgamate
the ideas of traditional figures in art with that of the manufacturing blocks and patterns. This
projection is also reflective of the fact that the variance of colour and shapes is the result of
creativity(Tóth, 2018). The emphasis of the painting has been the ideas of geometry,
abstraction and standardisation. The realisation of the painting is based in the idea that
machines are the future and it is these iconic shapes and sizes that are going to shape the
future of the artistic creation.the political ideology of the period has been the forceful
adaptation of the new manufacturing unit as the pattern(Trimingham et al., 2019). Mixed with
the tint of creativity with that of architecture, the aim of the artwork during this period
made a synthesis of the two diverging poles of art with industrial design and development.

Analysis of the artworks
It is crucial to understand the fact that Bauhaus has been the movement that has largely
focused on the issue of “ construction” at the juncture of the German and European turmoil.
Founded by Gropius, this movementtended to amalgamate the twodimensions of architecture
and design. The aim of the movement was to bridge the gap between art anddesign in the
contextof the changing political scenarios of Europe(Zhang, 2019). The birth of the new
idea in this context led to the development of a new school of thought and understand how
geometry shapes the outburst of the artistic creations. This is the phase of utter dualism
between the destructive impact of America with that of the golden age of Germany. This
new style of art has not only shaped the way people conceived art, it also showed a different
ways of expression for the common people. The chosen piece of art has been a portrayal of
the same since it has included the dominant models of industrial development along with the
traditional knowledge of art. This idea is based on the concept of less is more where the ideas
of geometry is likely to shape the projection of artistic endeavours. The common reception
of the Bauhaus art movement has been brave , rationale and radical in the field of art while
in case of their criticism, it has also been argued that the concentricity of the art works have
singularly dominated the field of art and creativity. The different dimensions of the paintings
