Organisational behaviour plays down an essential role under BBC. Moreover, this factor also
made an impact on the job performance of individuals, leadership styles and managerial skills
and also motivates them in each course so that individual performance will be improve and they
conduct their work with great efficient (Baker and Parkinson, 2016). These behaviours are need
to be handled effectively otherwise it affects the performance of organisational individuals.

their objectives. It also describes about the importance of different team under organisation and
all are performing there part to make down the business operations successful. It also describes
that how the team performance and productivity can be improved under BBC and what are the
certain hurdles been involved which affect the business activities of said organisation.
TASK-1
P1 a)Handy's cultural typology to understand the earlier culture in BBC
BBC is one of the oldest broadcasting company in the world and which situated under UK.
But it was reported that in the past, the employees were disheartened with the organisational
management (Chapman, Johnson and Kilner, 2014). Employees are also complained that
management not included them in decision making process and what they suggested that will not
be recorded by the management while conducted their activity.
According to the Handy's the decision making power ability possess in the hands of few people
only and when any mistake made by the managers under the said organisation, no action can be
taken against them. In this cultural typology he described about the four cultures that
organisation follows and they are as follows:
Power culture: In this culture he described that only few peoples are there who having the
ability and power to take down decision under BBC. This culture made the partiality
between the members of higher level and lower level.
Role culture: It is considered to be the best culture in the organisation because the jobs
are assigned to the employees according to their skills, knowledge and ability.
Document Page
Personal culture: Regarding that aspect Handy's described that whatever the employees
do they do for themselves not for the organisation (Densten, 2005). They give more
priority to themselves and think for their own benefits while performing their jobs.
Task culture: In this culture he described that there are some tasks involved under which
employees not have to performed individually but instead of that they to performed in
groups and using there skills for the effective results.
According to Smith's study it was also concluded that during performed their jobs there are
many employees who used bad languages in the premises and also abused themselves in the
premises of the BBC and management did not take any step to control on such practices (Garg
and Tiwari, 2015). The allegations which come from employees was never heard by the
authorities under BBC. Many of the employees who were skills and ability to perform their work
will leave their job due to ineffective culture under organisation. There are so many problems
faced by the organisation due to incapacity of member and leaders.
P1 b)Impact of culture, power and politics on organisational behaviour in past and present
In past the organisational behaviour is very much affected due to its culture, power and
politics. In organisational culture it clearly screens that the employees were treated very badly by
the management, they abused and using bad languages while performing there part and
management does not take any further step to controlled on such activity and they never got any
chance to prove themselves in the company (Haslam and et.al., 2014). Moreover, the
organisational management failed to create such environment where employees get more and
more satisfaction and insecure environment which created by organisation management affected
down the performances of employees and made them completely dissatisfied. The individuals
and employees who performed there part under BBC will never got motivated by their
management and principals. Their efficiency and effectiveness regarding their work was
sidelined. The decision making ability and power remains possessed in the hands of inefficient
persons under BBC (Haslam, van Knippenberg and Ellemers, 2014). Workers never got any
power and responsibility regarding the task they performed. Organisation never followed and
implemented down the rules during performed their work which essentially provided by their
government.

work, so this habit should be corrected (Hughes and et.al., 2012). It includes the

of needs theory. It contains physiological needs at its base followed by relationship needs
& growth needs of an employee to achieve self- esteem (Miller and Rice, 2013). If a
person fails to do so, he remains frustrated & relationship needs will return back. This
phase is called frustration – regression process.
Herzberg's Motivation- Hygiene theory: It has two parts in which the motivation of an
employee is dependent. The Motivation factor includes things such as sense of
recognition & achievement, presence of which causes motivation. Hygiene, on other
hand, contains the factors which, if absent, demotivate a person. This factors are good
pay, job security & work environment.
Process Theory: It is based on the processes which causes motivation for an employee. It
relays more on 'how' the motivation is occurred in an organisation (Moody and Pesut,
2006). It is based on the principle that individuals analyse things, make perceptions &
react accordingly to it. It includes theories like:
Equity theory: It includes the continuous assessment of the efforts of an employee in
compare to its fellow workers & the level of rewards it gets.
