These days’ organisations are facing a highly dynamic market where most of the elements
are becoming uncontrollable in nature. This has direct impact upon company internal factors that
allows it in functioning as per the requirements. The prime element that is the also a point of
concern for organisations is human resource (Acharya and et. al., 2011). It is a highly dynamic
force that can hamper or boost company ability to perform in market place. It is the task of
managers to ensure that people component is managed effectively, so that organisation efficiency
can be maintained and its long term survival is ensured. This report is based on British
Broadcasting Corporation. In this project it will be analysed as how culture and other
determinants impact organisation and its working. Various motivation theories will be mentioned
as well as a brief method of enhancing team work will be stated.
TASK 1
a)Handy’s Cultural typology
This model state about why people feel comfortable in once job while they do not find it
good in other. Basically, this method has given managers 4 different types of technique to
question about. They are stated below:
Power culture: In this type of environment, authority and power are centralised and kept
within the limits of small group of people (Adeniji, 2011). This is a method that can be
used for recovering sick units and boost their abilities. Also, a strong culture is developed
with the aid of this approach.
Role culture: Every person has his or her duties assigned in this approach. Basically,
managers ensures that employees are aware about the task that they have to do. This
assist in ensuring that each thing is completed in a set time period. Also, people are more
accountable due to their role.
Task culture: The people who are working in a company are given various task. This
culture is the one where achievement of goals is more important and that is why team are
built for boosting organisation abilities.
Person culture: This is where people keep their interest ahead of firm which impacts
organisation productivity and profitability. This is not a good environment and has to be
managed by managers by using hard approach.
1

In BBC, Task culture is followed which is supported by role approach. This ensures that each
person is clear about his responsibilities and completes his duties as per requirements.
BBC is not much successful in condition of management and communication. As per the
view of Smith culture, it is required for firm to concentrate on their working and in addition will
attain coveted targets effectively. There was a case in enterprise which is connected to abuse of
child and it is not sort out by administration significantly because they were not having adequate
things. BBC is a big association; thus, if they face any difficulties then, this will provide negative
impact to their entire success and advancement.
b) How culture, power and politics is affecting the behaviour of BBC
In current situation, there are diverse factors that are affecting organization capacity to
accomplish its own particular objectives and targets. The laborers are affected when supervisor
takes choice that are not levelheaded or has certain level of impact upon individuals. BBC has an
exceptionally diversified manpower that comes from different rank, religion, foundation and
takes after various esteems and morals (Armache, 2012). Chiefs need to guarantee that their
needs and needs are satisfied with the goal that their profitability is upgraded. The power and
specialist given to center level people must be utilized as a part of a way which adjusts
representatives development and friends extension together. Likewise, there is prerequisite of
assignment of specialist to these individuals with the goal that they can accomplish all coveted
errand in viable way.
Essentially, control needs to designate according to necessity so that there are no contentions
and each undertaking is finished by people. The best administration needs to guarantee that these
exercises don't have affect upon culture and condition. There are times when unimportant power
is appointed and must be overseen by individuals. Be that as it may, it makes issues and clashes
between two.
Wherever individuals are cooperating, the prime issue of concern is legislative problems. To
become ahead or satisfy singular intentions, representatives are occupied with political exercises.
This factor has both positive and negative effect upon association. The workers can be spurred
and demotivated by the current level of legislative issues that happen inside an organization. In
BBC, this factor has caused most extreme issues (Buelens and et. al., 2011). The consistent
impedance of decision parties and also the need of development makes individuals to accomplish
something political in nature. More often than not is prompts clashes and aloof natures.

However, it likewise help top administration in taking right choice in a set timeframe. The
representative support is expanded and better duty is there towards the work.
Power and legislative issues both go as an inseparable unit and has higher level of effect
upon association conduct. In the event that there is contrast or imbalance between controls then
governmental issues will likewise be on negative side. In any case, if top administration can take
right choices and disperse control in a proper way then the sort of governmental issues will
likewise be certain. The administrators need to guarantee that everyone is appointed according to
necessity and not on the premise of bias.
Power: This is associated with authority and will provide impact to others; therefore, they
will acquire either positive or negative results in company. This factor will influence persons as
if they are using it adequately then their interest will get affected. Manager as well as leaders of
BBC is not able to use their powers effectively; thus, it is difficult for them to get best outcome
and sort out problems.
Culture: There are many individuals who are working in firm and they are having their
own values, culture and in addition beliefs. This all can affect their performance either in a direct
or indirect way. In context of BBC, they are having adequate working culture which help them to
improve their working appropriateness.

requirements of individual at different stages of life. Once managers understands this,

clothing. Basically they are concerned with basic amenities.
3

and job.
o Social needs: At this stage person wants to develop relationship with society.
o Esteem needs: This is where he wants respect and recognition.
o Self-actualisation: This is a stage where a person has grown ahead of all desires
and wants to work for betterment of society.
Herzberg two factor theory: Federick Herzberg gave this theory where he stated about
two different factors whose presence and absence can boost or reduce people motivation
(del Mar Alonso-Almeida and Rodríguez-Antón, 2011). He stated about Hygiene (whose
nonexistence can reduce level of motivation) and motivators (it doesn’t have any impact
on people if they are absent and their present is a boost for individuals).
Rather than this, another process related to motivational hypothesis will assist to improve
morale of staff members. Along with this, coveted targets will attained adequately. Reinforcement theory: this is connected with behaviour of employees; therefore, effective
results will acquire by firm. Expectancy theory: Motivation of staff member is very associated with their desires and
wants. Equity theory express: This is linked with person's perception and in addition, they will
compare their task with other individuals.
Goal setting: If workers know about those targets which has to be attained by them then,
they will execute their task more appropriately.
These theories can be used by BBC managers for making sure that they are able to motivate
individuals in a desired manner. As a more motivated workforce will assist them in achieving
goals more appropriately.

fulfilment by satisfying needs. It is a most straightforward technique that will permit
administration in guaranteeing better level of inspiration among individuals.

and representatives are fulfilled. The best administration gives different chances to people to
enhancing their level of change in future. The two components permit director in distinguishing
factor that must be there for keeping up fulfillment level in individuals.
Expectancy hypothesis states about the things which a man anticipates from his
association. This is an idea that states about the things a worker needs to be satisfied by his
association. Supervisors can give them remunerates as far as extra, impetuses, non financial and
support their inspiration level (French, Stevenson and Michie, 2012). Fundamentally, this
approach will help in self inspiration and advantage association in improving execution of
individuals and serve purchasers in a best way. They have certain level of advantages related
with themselves and they are expressed underneath:
Learning: People are continually getting the hang of, making them more astute and more
honed. The more a man will learn, more compelling he will progress toward becoming.
