After identifying and assessing the risks in the Surfers Paradise Beach market, the risks

associated can be categorized into four types .They include physical risk, financial risk,

reputational risks and facilities(Yan et al .,2013). After the assessment and identification of risks,

it has been found that the physical risk like fire and other accidental hazards as well as various

terrorists and criminal activities pose severe risks (Ayling, 2013).

6.3 Discussion: the main risks of the event

The two main risks associated with the Surfers Paradise Beach Market are:

Fire and Electrical Hazards – Presently, at the Surfers Paradise Beach Market, they are
equipped with various fire extinguishers, which are properly positioned for cases of fire

or electrical accidents. However, they should include measures like inspection of

extension cords that they are protected from the traffic and foot of visitors, local fire

inspector and fire departments should conduct safety inspection frequently (Geddes,

2017).These accidents occurs due to faulty electrical devices, short circuits ,open flames

mishandling. The vendors present in market who uses open flame should be provided

with fire extinguishers too. The accidents related to fire and electrical hazards will have a

severe impact, which could result in loss of life and property, as well as cause several

injuries to visitors present.

Criminal activities –Presently the security at the beach market is not adequate
considering the various criminal activities that took place recently in Australia (O’Brien

et al .,2013). Considering mass gathering takes place in Beach market they should take

help of government security and engage police personnel for the protection and safety of

visitors (Paoli, 2014). The criminal activities includes mass killing, bombing and

others .The impact of criminal activities would be severe and it would lead to loss of life

and also results in several casualties.
