INTRODUCTION
Employability skills can be defined as those skills that are transferable and those are
required by individual in order to make them employable. This means that skills which enable
individual to complete particular task that is related to their employment is employability skills.
This report will discuss about employability skills regarding Beauty and nail salon. His business
encompasses of giving beauty and nail care services. This kind of business operates under
service sector. Concerned with this beauty and Nail salon because are concerned with personal
care and this is why those working in this industry require to have specific skills in beauty and
nail care. Employability skills for this will enable individual to successfully complete their
employability related functions.

Employability skills are those skills that are required in every kind of employment in
order successfully accomplish goals of the employment. These skills involve development of
expertise, knowledge base and mindset that is required for an employer. Employability skills are
also working related and soft skills that are required for a particular employment. Employability
skills contribute in improving performance, minimising errors, promote collaboration with other
employees at the organisation and enable to perform employment role more effectively

required for all kinds of roles and there are certain skills that are particularly related to one kind
of role only.
General skills that are required for Beauty and Nail Care- Communication is one of the most
important employability skills. This means effectively communicating what messages that are
related to a job, process of communication involves five elements that are sender, receiver,
message, medium and feedback. These five elements are required to given adequate and required
attention so that they can contribute in making communication effective. One of the standards for
effective communication is that receiver of the message correctly understand what sender of the
message intended for the message.

Teamwork also an important skill that is required for successful beauty and nail salon business.
this is because many time multiple people work together and this is it is important to have
understanding and coordination. Team working skill enables individual to effectively working
with other fellow employees and maintaining collaboration with all those who are working in
organisation and share common goals. This skill creates a positive work attitude and
environment and makes individual a great team player. This ensures that individual is able to
comfortably working with others and takes responsibility for their share in work. In its general
skills beauty and nail salon business also requires a skill to create reliability (Employability

significantly affected by reliability of customers on the business. This requires individuals to
constantly complete their task on time and qualitatively and ensuring minimum mistakes in

beauty industry. This skill is one which does not guarantee success yet enable individual to work
in beauty industry.

related skills. These skills are mainly related to the Beauty and Nail Salon and enable individual

WORK IN A SALON, 2016). Several skills are required for working in beauty industry these
skill are Passion for Beauty and Nail Salon is one of the important skills that are required for
beauty and nail salon. To start business in this it is important that individual is having passion for
the beauty and hair. This is one of the skills that help individual to proficient in this skill. Passion
is very important which enable individual to master their skill and which in turn contribute in
attracting customers with help of effective skills in beauty and nails. Artistic Skill in Beauty and
Nail is also part of skills in which employees in beauty and nail salon should ensure and develop

of the professional. However, professionals can always give their input to the customers yet it is
very important that their needs and desires are valued and they are provided required services. In
beauty and nail therapy and services it is also important that customers are well engaged in the
customers, this is important for pampering customers and this also enhance possibility of
ensuring that quality services along with effective communication that is appealing to customers
will build and increase loyalty of the customers for the beauty and nail professional.
Professionalism- This is another important skills for beauty and nail salon. This means that

It is important to know individual employability skills and what are the skills that lack in

Some of the skills that can be considered as strength have been discussed and opportunities
discussed are also on the basis of the strength and positive factors discussed. However there are
some weaknesses that require efforts to ensure their least impact on the success of the Beauty
and Nail Salon.
Communication skills, maintaining concentration, passion for beauty business, artistic approach
and creativity are some of my strength and these can also be considered as strong points that
individual have. These skills and strengths are very useful and are important for success in
beauty industry. This is one of the important reason to motivate individual for pursuing specific
education and business.
Time management, adaptability, leadership skills and building relations are some of the
weaknesses of the individual. These are required to be reduced because these can create barrier
in becoming successful professional in beauty industry. This means that one who is not good in
adaptability will not be able to adapt changing trends and not having leadership skill affect
capability of individual to successfully lead the business in beauty industry and this also affect
confidence of individual.
Opportunities for individual are as nail technician and as professional in beauty and nail industry.
This means that on the basis of strengths and skills one have possible opportunities they can avail
are these. This is based on some individual and technical skills related to beauty industry one
have are some possible opportunities available for individual.
Threats are also there are and these are possibilities that can create difficulty and barrier for the
success of individuals in achieving their desired objectives. These are based on weaknesses.
CONCLUSION
On the basis of above discussion it can be concluded that for becoming an effective
employee several skills are required. These skills are both general skills related to employability
and specific skills that are mainly related to a particular profession. Specific skills are mianly
those which enable individual become expert in some area of profession and achieve specified
professional objectives of the individual. The profession discussed in the report was of a Beauty

and Nail Salon. Later on the basis of skills identified SWOT Analysis was also done to identify
and understand individual capabilities and skills.
