Running Head: Diversity in the Organization 2
Discuss whether organizations should pursue diversity considering the challenges it may
bring?
Diversity in the workplace refers to the variety of differences between the individuals in an
organization. It sounds as simple, however, diversity encompasses race, ethics group, gender,
personality, tenure, organization function, background, cognitive style, and more. Diversity does
not only involve how individuals perceive themselves but it also includes how they perceive
others as well. Such perception directly affected their interactions. For a wide assortment of the
employees to the function efficiently as a company, human resources professionals require to
deal efficiently with the issues such as changes, adaptability as well as communication. An
organization that is committed to a diverse workforce is one that has an aim to harness a pool of
individuals with unique qualities that seeing their combination of differences as a potential for
growth rather than as an opportunity for the conflict. In the following part, there will be a
detailed analysis of the challenges that occur from the diversity and still the company is required
o adopt the diversity or not (Kirton, and Greene, 2015)
There is a natural barrier to holding as well as implementing the diversity in an organization.
There are many challenges which will be faced by the organization, like different understandings
or professional etiquette, it means that employees come from a different culture and every human
being is different, therefore, it shows that their culture, values, behaviors, attitude towards work
and etiquette will be different from other employees. And the human being is the key to the
business as they can bring a great change by accepting the challenge or can lose or create an
unhealthy environment by de-motivating other employees or professionals. Now onwards,
professionals, employees come from different countries to get work which means that it will
cover much time to learn that countries' environment, traditions and be in the habit. This reflects
negative diversity but the positive in this is that the professionals are specialized in skills (Barak,
2016)
Next challenge, implementation of diversity in the workplace policies it refers to a diversity in
which it needs to maintain all the data, the result of employees and their assessments. They must
build and customize a strategy to minimize the obstacles and maximize the effects of diversity
(Kalonaityte, 2016)

While diversity, it should be noted that all the employees are motivated, encouraged and excited
to perform their best in the organization. They should work as a team and their goal should be of
organizational interest, not individual interest. Motivation is the best source to get work done
through an employee; motivation can be of different types such as performance appraisals,
rewards for good work, honoring an employee and many more (Klarsfeld, Booysen, Ng, Roper,
and Tatli, 2015)
Challenges have both sides, it totally depends on an organization that which side it is preparing
to choose. Many organizations have the ability to do but without the knowledge and lack of
guidance makes it difficult for them to face the challenges. There are some more challenges
which an organization can bring by their own practice and will definitely help in diversity in the
future. The challenge which can be adopted needs to overcome communication barriers.
Different culture, language, and tradition create barriers in diversifying, which is necessary to
overcome if wants to succeed in the future. Also, a major problem of an organization is the
retention of an employee, an organization is highly recommended to focus on this challenge
because an employee’s sustainability is required for the organization's growth. Organizations
should conduct training and development programs for new employees, provide appraisals,
satisfy the requirements of employees and conduct orientation programs. By doing all this
employee will feel good and energetic (Barak, 2016)
An organization to grow needs to interact with its middle and low-level management while
taking any decision. This will enhance the participation of employees and will make the
employees get open to provide their ideas, suggestions or any guide. This benefits a lot as
employees are boosting up and ready to participate. Also, they should conduct in a month single
or twice a time as suitable an activity which makes employees relax and stress-free but it needs
to be compulsory so that enough number of participations are done, increase of enjoyment level
and employees will feel comfortable(Klarsfeld, Booysen, Ng, Roper, and Tatli, 2015)
As we discussed above employees come from different countries therefore, they require a visa,
passport, navigate as per employments laws and another cost of accommodating. As every
country has its own laws and culture and making habit of that environment is not so easy, it takes
time. Therefore, an organization should provide space for accommodating themselves until they

settle on their own or refer to any place which tends to increases the organization's goodwill and
makes employees satisfied. Accepting and meeting the challenges will help in diversity, diversity
is trending and highly recommended too. It makes an organization presentable and attractive
from others. While facing the above-mentioned challenges the organizations come on a point
where all the things go right, as accepting and meeting challenges is one of its biggest tasks and
step towards diversity(Kirton, and Greene, 2015)
Diversity can be good or bad but if an organization sustains those challenges then it’s totally
beneficial. Therefore, the benefits which will come along with diversity are creating, inspire and
drive innovation this includes a variety of experience from different countries, different
viewpoints to a single matter and new thoughts. All these points if used correctly will power the
organization to be the best in the business market. Wide range of thoughts helps to solve
problems and meet customer needs an inefficient manner(Wrench, 2016)
For being a tough competitor, an organization needs more experience and knowledge
professionals. Organization having proper or more knowledge of the local market and areas helps
to expand its business in new markets. It makes it more competitive and profitable with new
skills and innovative ideas. Employees from different places help to understand the market and
surroundings very well, which benefits in making a connection with them, satisfying their needs,
identifying the demand and fulfilling it. It provides tough competition to other organizations
which are still not diversified(Martic, 2018)
Diversity in an organization attracts talent, it brings talent toward the organization, new skill
professionals, specialized individuals and minded employees. It creates an opportunity for
employees who deserve to be there. From the whole world, employees come to explore
themselves. All the members of an organization learn different cultures and traditions of other
country employees. This creates brotherhood among employees as well as countries.
Technically, it benefits the nation as well (Wrench, 2016)
Having specialized professionals from different countries is of great advantage. They help an
organization to solve their problems on their own premises instead of depending on other
countries for help. This builds a reputation and goodwill in the market. Diversity can make a loss
earning company to profit earning if challenges applied and meted respectively. This also

facilitates the growth of employees, the more employee knowledge increases, the more their
capacity to learn grows. They will focus on improving their ability; will try to enhance their
capability by adapting the changes in the environment (Kirton, and Greene, 2015)
Hereby, it is concluded that diversity is beneficial and significant for an organization. Choosing
to diversify is of great extent, it enhances business as well as employees. Diversity brings an
organization to be in the market and provide a tough competition to others and sustain there, with
its capabilities earn in diversifying. From all the above-mentioned challenges, benefits and
loopholes it is clear that meeting the challenges in the right way will bring tremendous change in
an organization. It is immensely good to change with the environment; after all, it is required.
Being a change attracts the customers as well as employees, they will love to work with that
organization. Because there they will learn different things, get an option to show organization
their capabilities and will earn a good income (Cheah, 2015)
To pursue diversity, adaptations are must but it should be correct and rightly approached. An
organization by itself brings many challenges to cope up with the diversification, as it is
preferable. To classify which type of diversity an organization needs s foremost important and
rest the changes can be done accordingly. By identifying what is good for an organization to help
employees, managers to make clear goals and objectives and set targets(Kalonaityte, 2016)
