High school graduates should take a gap before entering college
In today’s time, it becomes essential for the students to take the break before entering
into college. It helps the person in getting various advantages such as more research about
future, advancement in skills and many more. In this essay, the discussion is carried on the
benefits that a person gets before entering into college.
Yes, sometimes it is beneficial to take a break before entering into college. It offers
the several benefits to the student who is moving ahead for great future and wants some time
to think for this. Several benefits that a person can get by taking gap are discussed below:
1. A gap before entering into college helps a person to take enough time to think about
the career. By doing this, person come to know about his or her likings. Various students do
not properly figure out what they want to achieve or do because they have paid already for
their education. Due to this reason, they stick to their career that might not be their ambition.
By doing this, they get themselves in a situation of debt by not going in their desired career
goals or they were stuck in a non-rewarding job. By taking the break of one year for their
career, they can thing twice before starting their career in any field. In the gap time, they also
get the time to get assistance of person who can guide them well for their career (Dickler,
2017).Therefore, before taking admission in college; gap can be beneficial for the person.
The person will get the enough time to think best for their career. Person can also research all
the opportunities that are presented in his field of interest. Apart from all these, a gap of year
will allow the person to give their best when they will join the college. The main factor
behind this is that having an off year between the school and entrance of college will help the
person in getting education more seriously.

year time to develop new skills. Before entering into the college life, person can learn the
new hobby as well as language. A person can learn various skills such as technical writing,
drawing, public speaking skills, as well as cooking. All these skills will make the person
happy and provide the great time to enjoy. A person can learn various things from personal

life. Therefore, as per my understanding, a gap before entering into college can serve the
person with various advantages and can open a new chapters in the life of a person. In
addition to this, person will be able to make more new friends. Through this, person will be
able to get long lasting friends (Kraska, 2017). It is true that the friends in class loss the
contact just after the graduation. It is because the friendships during these days are made for
certain circumstances. Therefore, getting a gap before entering into college will give the
chance to increase the contacts with very good persons. These friendships are not only good
due to the social interaction but it will also be powerful in making business contacts in future.
It will allow the person to get various professional contacts in engaging and fun manner
(Year On, 2018).
3. In the gap of one year, person can get the needed work experience. Before entering
into college, it will give the time to at least get an internship or entry-level job. It is a best
way to receive the work experience that will not only help in getting the best in college but
also helps in getting better career opportunities after graduation. The work experience will
not only prove that the person has some knowledge to be successful but it will also show that
you have work experience as well as work ethic in order to become successful. After
completing the graduation, employees will have more to hire the person, if it has work
experience even if it is just internship or entry level(Yeager et al, 2017). As compare to the
other who has only degree, person will be given more value that has at least some work
experience. It is because receiving a before work experience will make the person lower-risk
new hiring than other person who is having no work experience. Other than this, when people
starts their career right after getting graduation. In this case, they do not time to travel and
explore the world. By taking the gap of a year before entering into college will give the
opportunity to travel (Stine, 2017).
In conclusion, it can be stated that the gap of one year before entering into college helps the
person to think more about the career. In addition, it will also provide the enough time to
witness everything all over the world. In this gap person will also get to know about the
