AI Summary
This report examines the application of Best Available Techniques (BAT) to enhance waste management practices within various industrial settings. It highlights how BAT, encompassing advanced operational methods and technological developments, minimizes environmental pollution and promotes sustainable practices. The report emphasizes the importance of BAT in industries such as food processing, refineries, iron and steel manufacturing, textiles, and printing. It details how BAT contributes to resource optimization, emission reduction, and effective waste disposal. The report also includes specific examples of BAT implementation, such as the selection of environmentally friendly products, energy-efficient operations, and the reduction of harmful emissions. The application of BAT contributes to the minimization of environmental harm and the efficient management of waste across different industrial sectors. The report is supported by references to relevant literature.

Application of best available techniques (BAT) impacts on waste management in
industrial facility
Best available techniques are available techniques that are used to prevent or minimise
the emission and impact of pollution cause on environment. Companies need to install BAT if
they are carrying out industrial process like food factory and refinery or may be intensive farm. It
is most effective and advance stages deciding method of operation and development of activities
that contribute in minimum emission of wastage and impact on environment. The way BAT
techniques impact on waste management in environment is that it makes selection of more
environmentally products rather than chemical or oil (Hjort and et.al., 2019). Moreover, it leads
in energy saving through efficient weather screen and optimisation of use of electrical tools.
BAT also focused on minimising the emission of dust, smoke and exhaust fume so that less harm
can be cause to environment. It furthermore contributes in way of storing, sorting and disposing
material for effective wastage management for protection of environment. In context of iron and
steel industry, the best available technique has been applied in order to measure sub process and
technologies in both ferrous metal processing industry and production of iron and steel.
Likewise the BAT practices are used in board vessel in which crew need to be established
environment sound practices and implement it on board by ensuring compliance of all these
practices. For example waste handling and sorting are effective monitored, at the same time
waste is collected and disposed at place or approved waste handling sites. So application of best
available techniques contribute crew in ensuring waste should be safely stores on board in
advance (Laso and et.al., 2017). Thereby it is technique that has been used in each and every
industry with an aim to minimise the amount of wastage and protect environment. Companies
operation in Textile industry also applied the BAT technique which resulted in process
optimisation through reducing the liquor ratio, process atomization by reusing water from last
and cleanest rising bath and many more. Substitution of Natriumhy, enzymes and Azo dymes
with pochlorit hydrogen, solvent based detergents and metal complex dyestuff respectively.
The printing industry makes production of different printed products like magazines,
catalogue, packaging and books. So BAT helps companies in identifying cleaner technologies at
time of producing many printing material for protection of environment and effective
management of wastage. Such as in printing industry, BAT has lead in minimising impact of
environment through ensuring that paper are made from virgin fibre from sustainable forestry or

recycled fibre. At the same time they need not be bleached with use of chlorine gas that is
harmful for environment. Furthermore like making use of printing ink, adhesives that are made
without hazardous components with an motivate to reduce use of heavy metal like chromium,
mercury and cadmium (Neuwahl and et.al., 2019). The companies operating in printing industry
should also ensure that it make standard size of sheet so that minimum wastage of paper is done
while trimming. So, application of BAT has lead in making optimum utilisation of available
resources in different industries and effective waste management for protection of environment.
