RESEARCH PROCESS
How does the research process work?
The current study is focusing over carrying out information about the impact of Big Data
and Information Technology in society. The current study is commenced by selecting
appropriate topic of the research and then forming appropriate research aim, objectives and
questions in relation to the study (Hancock and Khoshgoftaar, 2020). After the formation of aim
and objectives, certain research methods are chosen for the accumulation and analysis of
information in a systematic manner.
What are three of the key issues in research?
Conducting a research is not an easy task because a researcher goes through several tasks
and stages for completing the work. One of the major issues in the current research is finding
right secondary source for the accumulation of second-hand data about the selected topic i.e. big
data and information technology in society (Qi, 2020). The other major issue in the research is
lack of time management skill and it directly created issue in the completion of each activity in
decided duration of time. Another issue was collecting primary information from the selected
number of participants and this has become issue in attaining objectives of the study.
Which research topic have you chosen and why?
The chosen topic in the current investigation is impact of big data and information
technology in society. Big data has direct impact over society because it is used for forecasting
weather, natural disasters, customised learning, robotics and so on (Wang and et. al., 2020). On
the other hand, information technology also has direct impact because it has changed the way
people communicate with each other. The main reason of selecting this topic is to showcase the
requirement of big data and information technology in today's society.

How do data, information and knowledge differ?
Data is defined as the simplest form which consists raw alphanumeric values. In simpler
words, data are several characters and symbols whose meaning only becomes clear when they
link with context. On the other hand, when data reaches complex level then it becomes
information. Information gives expertise about persons or facts. Whereas knowledge refers to the
process of describing gathered data that is available about certain person or a fact.
How does this impact your own research proposal?
Data, information and knowledge are three important components and have direct impact
over research proposal (Lv and Qiao, 2020). In the research proposal, they have assisted in
showing appropriate content and matter in the form of data, information and knowledge.

I have selected the research topic of big data and information technology on the society.
With this I have assembled information about benefits created by big data to society. I have
gathered accurate and relevant information about the selected topic. I have used secondary
sources and they have helped in collecting data in the short time and the major weakness of this
source is that sometimes it does not give updated information.

COLLECTING DATA
How do primary and secondary sources of data differ?
Primary source is thee data collection method which gathers and analyse first-hand
information whereas, secondary source is the method which collects second hand data for the
study. In primary data fresh information is gathered directly from the applicants and in secondary
source data is gathered by some third party. Primary data collection is the method through which
real time data is being obtained and in secondary data past data is being used. One of the main
difference between primary and secondary source is that researcher has full control over primary
data collection source and in secondary data collection investigator has no control.

Which types of data are most relevant to your own research project, and why?
As per the current research topic, the type of data which is most relevant is secondary data
collection method. this is because it helps in gathering past data which is being collected by
some other researcher in their study. Secondary data also helps in carrying out the investigation
in deeper manner by acquiring vast information for the study. One of the main advantage which
is gained while using secondary data collection method is less time is incurred to obtain the
information. As well as cost to acquire this type of data is also low because this type of
information can be gathered by just one click or by going to library.
How would you collect the data, and what are some of the associated research issues?
There are various sources for gathering secondary data such as books, journal, article,
government site, online website, magazine and many more. As per the current investigation data
is gathered using books, government site and online site. This is because these type of
information can easily obtain by just click or by going to the library.
Some of the research issue which is faced while collecting data is lack of knowledge regarding
the topic. This create problem to acquire useful information only. Another problem is time
management skill as there are various activity involved and managing these activities in timely
manner is one of the issue.

Data is also used to monitor the performance. Also, different tools of data analysis can be
used in order to measure the performance in significant manner. By monitoring and measuring

The ratio of data to errors: This is a highly used metric which allows a person to
examine the number of errors within available data. Fewer error shows that the quality of data is

Artificial intelligence: Now, I will use artificial intelligence to assist me in getting
meaningful outcomes through research project.
Cloud storage: During the research, I will collect huge amount of data. I will store the
data using cloud storage in order to use it in future period of time.
Cybersecurity: Here, I will also take care regarding cybersecurity in order to protect the
information of respondents appropriately.

Nowadays, use of IT has been increased in the field of research. Here, information
