on 28 October 1955. Bill gates is one of the most inspirational and charismatic leader across
the whole world. He is known as richest person in the whole world. He has received various
awards in his life such as Bower award for leadership in business, National medal of
innovation and technology and Mary Woodard award for the Public services. Bill Gates is the
only person behind the success of Microsoft as well as software industry across worldwide
because he founded this software in 1975 and which has become largest software worldwide.
Today, Microsoft is one of the successful software across the whole world due to the
leadership qualities of Bill Gates (Mumford, Partlow and Medeiros, 2013).
I choose Bill Gates as a leader because of his effective leadership qualities and other reasons
such as:
1. Bill Gates always focuses on one goal and also asks to their team members to focus
on specific goal. He only focused on the software industry.
2. Leader should have clear through about what are their goals. Bill Gates dreamt big
and tries to achieve his objectives with clear through.
3. He is a most passionate person for software.
4. A leader should always ready to learn new knowledge and new things. Bill Gates still
always ready to learn from every person.
5. He always show care towards their team members.
6. He is the richest person in the whole world and as a leader he inspired billion of
people from his work and leadership quality.

Leadership theory should be follow by every leader because it helps them in guiding how to
use behaviours related to leadership in a specific environment to lead their team members
towards the achieving the goals and objectives of the organization. There are various theories
of leadership which show the Bill Gates’ overall leadership qualities, methods and motives.
These are the following:
1. Great Man Theory – As per this theory, good leader are born, they are not made. Bill
Gates is a great leader because he has various essential traits of a good leader which
described the above and he is a richest person across the whole world.
2. Trait Theory: - This theory is similar to Great Man Theory. Trait refers to attributes or
skills of a leader. For good leader, they should have some essential traits. Bill Gates
has several skills which helped them in success in software industry, success in his
career and became the richest person in whole world such as creativity, passionate,
caring for other, growing and continuous learner and focus on particular thing.
3. Transformational Theory: - This theory states the effective relationship between
leader and their team members, so they can encourage each other. Bill Gates follow
autocratic leadership style and also ignore the conflicts which arose between their
team members, so they did not use transformational theory of leadership because he
did not focus on the employee welfare (About Bill Gates, 2019).
4. Participative Theory: - As per the theory, team members can also participate during
decision making process. He also follows participative leadership style, so he allowed
his team members to participate in decision making process or any essential decisions
for the benefit of the organization. He also gave chance to his team members for

5. Behavioural theory of leadership: - Behaviour theory also known as style theory of
