INTROFUCTION
The purpose of the report is to present reflection in learning development on practice of
performing research related to BIM in construction. Construction management is said to a
professional service which opts specialised techniques related to project management for
overseeing planning, designing as well as construction of project from initiation to end (Araújo,
Carneiro and Palha, 2020). It brings directions along with leadership to projects. Learning and
development process enhances skills, competencies and knowledge of an individual which leads
to better performance in work based setting. It also strengthens awareness level and determines
various areas for expertise. In construction management, learning and development dives into
planning, significant of information collection along with follow up, facilities must have, source
suitable content along with basics of budgeting, marketing addition to evaluation. It entails
advancing specific skill set of a person together with instilling greater motivation for improvising
job performance. For the present report, purpose of reflection is to gain an opportunity for
pausing amidst chaos, untangle along with sort with the help of observations and experiences,
focus on multiple possible interpretations addition to devise meaning for BIM in construction.
The report highlight reflection on learning and development, ongoing development,
reflection on presentation and personal development plan.
MAIN BODY
Reflection on learning and development
Learning and development process can be said to ongoing process of encouraging
professional development of an individual. It comprises analysing gaps in skill set along with
designing training programs which empower people with particular body of knowledge to drive
performance (Utley and Astill, 2018). In order to reflect my learning and development, use of
Gibb’s Reflective Cycle is effective for me as it give structure to my learning from experience
about construction management. The six stages including my personal experience in the module
are as follows:
Description: In the module, I have decided to divide different elements of project so that
I can collect information one each element of the topic. I expected that I can just piece the
assignment the day before deadline. I had given myself enough time to collect details about
construction management and BIM in construction.

Feeling: I was feeling quite good that I have performed smart work of dividing elements
and planning my time to collect details and make it a good working. However, achieving failure
in required research made me frustrated. I was more certain that it was going to work and I had
little motivation to complete it on time. Looking towards my entire learning about my working, I
am feeling satisfies that I decided to put in work.
Evaluation: While completing the module, there were things which worked well while
some didn’t. the thing which went well was producing good quality work about BIM in
construction for agreed deadline. Furthermore, the thing which didn’t went well was collecting
desired level of information for each element of the topic. Overall, it contributed positively
towards my individual work ethic.
Analysis: From my learning in the module, it has been analysed by me that my initial
division of elements worked well. I have never experienced working this was before. I also
analysed that when I work individually, I enjoy working in areas which match to my strength.
Things didn’t go due to my weak presentation skill. From the whole situation, I can say that
learning and development aids in improvising quality of working as well as work life. It also
helps in achieving development goals that are align with work completion goals.
Conclusion: It is being learnt by me that division of work helps an individual to plan
each section for looking along with feeling. From the module, I have gain insights related to
BIM, ways in which BIM helps in construction, benefits with BIM for builders and future of
implications. In future, having working similar to this would likely make it possible for me to put
elements together along with researching about each element through using varied sources. I also
learned that creativity and time management plays significant role in learning and development
of an individual.
Action Plan: Next time, if I get chance to work individual on similar project, I will plan
collection of information as per the elements of the project. Moreover, I will develop my
presentation skill through presenting useful information, practising positive thinking, giving
myself enough time to prepare, looking towards experts as how they do it, use a visual aid and
using the presentation as opportunity. Moreover, to present my information, I need to improve
public speaking skill with the help of practising voice along with breadth control, adding visual
aid, preparing talking points, relaxing body language and organise my materials in effective way
for achieving purpose.

Continuous Improvement
Continuous improvement is defined as the process of improving personal strengths and
eliminating weaknesses to ensure that personal skill set is improved in an incremental manner to
achieve a breakthrough (Vinodh and et. al., 2020). I will be utilizing the continuous improvement
continuous to guide the development of my sills for building a successful career in the
construction management field. The usage of continuous improvement will help me get better
results from my efforts in developing my sills in compression to aimless actions and will be
bring closer to my career objectives. I will be able to use the results of my reflective practice
effectively and will also enhanced university experience.
The usage of continuous improvement will help me reach better results in my academic
career and studies because I will be able to evaluate my performance with minimum impact of
personal bias and work on the feedback I gain from the teaching faculty. In addition to this
studying construction management will also help me get career advancement as it will increase
my knowledge of the construction industry and the managerial conventions in the field. Finally I
will also be able to get the proper credentials by completing education in construction
management to get better employment prospects in the construction field.
The primary aspects of my continuous improvement plan will focus on developing my
skills related to preparation and delivering presentation. My presentation building performance
will have significant improvement through my continuous improvement plan. Continuous
improvement is essential for securing better academic grades because students are able to use all
the information and guidance available to direct their future action and be prepared for
employment after completing higher education (Khan and et. al., 2019). My continuous
improvement plan will be dependent on regularly reflecting on past experiences by suing
different reflective models so that I am able to apply continuous improvement an outperform
myself in every academic task.
Reflection on PowerPoint Presentation
I completed the presentation on the topic of the impact of Building information modeling.
The power point presentation explored the areas related to business information modeling in the
field of construction including the assistance provider by business information modeling in the
construction industry, information related to the Business information modeling soft-ware,
advantages provided by business information modeling to builders and future implication of the

business information modeling in the construction industry. My presentation aimed to depict the
changes bought about by the business information modeling in the construction industry while
also informing the audience about the basic elements of the business information modeling
technology.
I have realized that my experience of preparing and presenting the PPT results to my
peers and the teaching faculty was enjoyable. Even through I am not as proficient in building
attractive power point presentation, I still learned a lot from this experience. Power Point
presentations should be prepared with focus on visual creativity (Bonetto and et. al., 2021). I am
certain that my participation in this experience has helped me improve my study skills
inculcating my strengths and weaknesses such as research skills and presentation skills.
Reexamining my experience with Power point presentation, I have understood that the main area
where I outperformed my peers is my research skills and written communication skills. This is
because I was able complete I profound research on the area of Business information modeling
which is effectively articulated in the presentation.
Initially I faced the barrier of time management because the presentation required
researching on variety of domains related to business information modeling in the construction
industry. In I also had to prepare an attractive and appealing presentation. First I felt that the
overall task of preparing the presentation was plenty of work and was worried that will I be able
to deliver the work before the deadline. I overcame this barrier by using my time management
skills and preparing an easy to follow schedule for creating the presentation. Moreover I also
applied the 4 D time management too to ensure that each of the activity is complete tin a timely
manner. Time management skills are essential academic skills (Razali and et. al., 2018).
Remembering the presentation of my peers I have understood that my public speaking
skills are weak and I need to improve this capability in order to get better grades in future
presentation projects. Some of my peers had high confident and were able to discuss the ideas of
the presentation in an articulate manner. This has inspired me to enhance my presentation skills
in the for future presentation. For this I am to take public speaking courses which can be found
by searching online so that I become a proficient public speaker.

CONCLUSION
From the above report it is concluded that academic projects related to building
presentation require variety of skills. Students can benefit from the topics such as continuous
improvement and reflection as it provides them an opportunity to increase their skills. Public
speaking skills and ICT skills are some capabilities needed by individuals to ensure that they
prepare an engaging and attractive presentation while also delivering it perfectly to the target
audience. Reflective practice can be done by applying tools such as Gibb's reflective model so
that students develop their skills from past experiences. This helps them identify their strengths
and weaknesses so that proper action can be taken to build the strengths and weaknesses. In this
way completing reflective practice on previous activities helps individuals afoot continuous
improvement a they can work on their capabilities regularly to enhance the professional skills
needed achieving career development. Reflection outcome can also be used by students to
prepare a personal development plan. The usage of personal development plan is essential for
continuous improvement of students as it helps them prepare a detailed document sporting their
continuous improvement. The usage of personal development plan helps individuals identify the
areas which require immediate attention for developing their academic and professional sills. In
this way continuous improvement can be initiate with the help of reflection and completed by
preparing personal development pan focusing on development of specific skills.
