BIM Implementation Analysis: Northumbria University Hostel Project

This report analyzes the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the construction of a Private Student Hostel for Northumbria University’s city campus, reviewing the project against current BIM standards. It examines how the project met BIM requirements through clash detection systems, accurate geometric data records, and improved labor force effectiveness. The report also identifies shortcomings, such as the lack of mechanisms to update the model, non-participating team members, and inaccurate BIM content, which led to design and construction issues. It further discusses the importance of understanding BIM tool capabilities and the challenges of maintaining an accurate and up-to-date BIM model throughout the project lifecycle.
