Biometrics and cyber security
Future direction
Security play an important role in our daily lives and the demand of security is also
increasing day by day. Biometrics is the key future of securing data or in cyber security. It is
used in many fields like ecommerce, online banking, computer login and many others. Cyber
security is an essential requirement in the digital world; it is a key technology that establishes
a secure connection between user and cyber service. Biometrics is an important context on
internet as it identifies authenticated user.
In many cases biometrics bring challenges as there is no perfect way of identifying the
authenticated users. It secures all the sensitive data by ensuring that privacy of personal data
is met. There are no chances of non-repudiation activities in case of biometrics (Fraschini,
Hillebrand, Demuru, Didaci & Marcialis, 2015). It refers in identifying the person
automatically based on behavioural as well as physiological behaviour. Biometrics is used in
various forms like finger print, facial detection, hand geometry, retina scan and iris scan.
Biometrics is a strong defence tool against all the cyber security attacks. They are
useful as they identify the user uniquely and help in identifying between authenticated and
non-authorised users. Nowadays they are used in airport security, criminal identification so
that unauthorised access could be prevented. It is considered as an emerging area in the field
of security, it do not require the need of keeping the passwords and secret keys. It improves
the overall security, convenience and security (Niu, Li, Zhu, Cao & Li, 2015). It safeguards
the system from all the security threats.
Conclusion
Thus it can be concluded that ,cyber security offers protection to the entire internet
connected system including hardware, software and all the data Cyber security assures that
communication over internet take place between authenticated users only by maintain
confidentiality, integrity and availability. In cyber security, biometrics is a technique that
measures all the characteristics and assures that security is maintained. The role of biometrics
in cyber security is to prevent hackers to steal the sensitive data. It is also used in securing all
the digital assets so that criminal activities could be controlled (Gu, Zhai, Yang, Zhang &
Chen, 2015). Biometrics is basically used to identify the uniqueness of a person by using

their information and data. The use of biometric technology is increasing with time especially
in the security systems. The biometric system helps in uniquely identifying a person by
information systems
The advanced security measure that is used is biometric authentication as it increases
the overall protection. It increases the efficiency of data processing and also safeguards the
system from hackers. In future biometrics will be used in all the sectors like in the form of
smart cards, sensors in smartphones and much online based system (Burger, Meimon, Petit &
Nguyen, 2015). The goal is to improve security, usability and effectiveness for cost
reduction. The biometric application has bright future as they are used at time of ATMs,
access control, door security and many others. They are less expensive as compared to other
methods and are accurate and reliable.
