Professional competency is vital and crucial to the performance and success of
professionals. The higher your competence levels are, the more knowledgeable and skillful you
get in handling professional roles. Professional assessments tests help one to gather more
knowledge on his or her strengths and weakness and what strategies he or she can employ to
make the professional life smooth and successful (McNamara, 2013). The laureate professional
assessment tests are one good and effective tests in measuring or rather in gathering knowledge
on the competence levels. The assessment measures many factors needed in the line of a
profession such as analysis on how to solve problems, how you interact with others, your
professional development advancement, and the ability to adapt to changes in the profession. As
per the course requirements, I had to take the assessment test to measure my professional
competency levels.
The laureate assessment test is based on the comparison to submissions of the students
who have already done the test. The report gave me interesting scores that helped me a lot to
understand my weakness and strengths in line with my profession. The report had some feedback
on how I have scored in the test and the areas that need my attention and how to tackle them. The
report also has tips on how one can improve with regards to your professional experience. To
some significant extent, I agree with the assessment test results however there are results that I
cannot agree with report since they are not reflecting myself.
The analyzing and solving problems part which I scored a 3, I think the mark should be
higher. I believe I pose problem-solving skills that are essential in solving and analyzing
problems. However, I realized after reading the report, and there is more to the analysis of the
issues and the processes of getting solutions than I thought. I learned that in critical and complex

issues it was easy to understand answers by breaking the complex problems into small
components that are easy to deal with and finding the links between the parts. After the
identification on how the elements are interconnected, it easier for you to consider a possible
solution on the interconnected parts hitherto to making a concrete decision (Mulder, 2014). I
have been dealing with complex issues as a whole without simplifying them into small parts, this
is very tedious and hamper your decision in being a successful solution. The tips from this part of
the analysis were beneficial and essential in enhancing my competency skills and development
hence this will help me in enhancing my professional skills.
The assessment report was very unfair to me on the part of the relationship with others
where I scored 1. I am always very social and happy to work with everyone whether at the team
level or individual level. I am always accommodative when working with team members as I
give them time to explore their expertise and knowledge in whatever sector they feel they are
better in. However, I learned that relationship with others goes beyond team working. Observing
to gain experience and skills from people who are best in performing certain skills in the group
work or and individual levels needs one to have a good relationship with the people you want to
learn from (Bessick, and Naicker, 2013. Additionally, when disagreements occur, there should
not be regarded as conflicts between the people but rather disputes between ideas and opinions.
The tips are given form the report is very good and essential in making relationships with
colleagues and teammates blossom for the betterment of my professional competency.
I agree with the report marks regarding achieving my professional objectives. The report
gave me two marks after the assessment. This could be as a result that I feel demotivated when I
get across some work that is unclear and does not have clear objectives. The procedure related to
in getting things done. The reports tips on this issue has helped me enhance my skills in

accomplishing my goals. The other aspect of measuring one's competency on the professional
line is learning and development. On this aspect, I scored highly, and I agree with the result. I
always push myself in learning and getting more knowledge in my area of expertise. I do not
take chances on opportunities that come my way; I always sell my self in getting more
knowledge and skills in line with perfecting my professional development.
The theoretical concepts in understanding people and organizations have helped me get
full insights of the assessment report. The assessment report is essential and useful in helping me
understand the competency concerning my professional life. I am delighted with the tips as
stipulated under each measuring tool and its importance and the recommendations therein. The
tips help in making one reorganize themselves for professional competency. In conclusion, the
module is very essential in the development of professional life and hence the need to take in
seriously the assessment report details.
