Research title (problem statement)
Engaging in criminal behaviour is not new for the people in the UK especially among the black
youths residing in the UK; this rate is higher than the general is. It can be stated that the drugs
and gun crime are the biggest threat for the black community, which is also affecting their
overall growth. Involving into the gang crime is not a new thing for the back youth in the UK,
especially in the urban and suburban areas (Smith and Patton, 2016). Black-on-black violence is
the result of gang related crimes In the UK, whereas the evidences of black-on-white crime has
been developed as the result of the problems related to the discrimination of the system of the
country and the society. The physical and mental health of the black youths in London is being
affected and it can be stated that the development of the crime rate and violence among the black
youths in the UK, is affecting the society and the growth of the youth generation (Whitton et al.
2019). The research has been reflected over the problems and the risk factors that the black
youths in the UK are facing currently due to their involvement in the gang crime and violence.
Research project description
The research has been developed over the problems that can be seen among the black youths that
are residing the urban and the suburban areas of the UK. It can be stated that number of causes
can be the reason behind this involvement in the violence (Assari and Caldwell, 2017).
Moreover, this problem is affecting the physical and the mental health and growth of the black
youths according to their age. Therefore, the root cause of the problem should be found in order
to understand the situation that forced them to be involved into it. On the other hand, it can also
be said that the potential solution for the problems can be recommended with the help of the data
and information taken from the qualitative and the quantitative process (Tatum, 2017).
Research aim
The research aims to reflect over the issue of the physical and mental health related risk factors
that are interrupting their overall growth of the black young generation in the UK, especially in

the urban and suburban area. The aim of the research is also to find the temporary as well as the
permanent solutions that would be beneficial for the restricting the violence among the black
young generation in the UK.
Research objectives

Introduction
It can be stated that the development of the crime rate and the violence among the black youths
in the UK is increasing along with time. It is seen that a number of reasons can be developed,
which can influence the child and the youth to develop atrocities regarding the problems
regarding the life.

Rate of crime and violence among the black youths in the UK
It can be stated that the development of the crime rate and violence among the black youths are
comparatively higher among black youths that are residing in the UK in comparison with the
white youths residing in the same country. Some major reasons are behind this problem and it is
negatively affecting the physical and the psychological growth of the youths in respect to the
others. It can also be stated that the organizations. It can be stated that the development of these
problems can lead to the risk factors among the youths and it would be negative for them in their
future life. It can be stated that from 2013-2017, crime rate and violence among the black youths
in the UK has been increased by 46%. It can also be found that the 55% of the incidents are
turning into severe, rather fatal injury and 32% are adequate for the hospital admission (Voisin et
al. 2016). Thus, the prevention measures should be taken in order to restrict this trend and to
prevent those incidents in future.
Physical and psychological risk factors
It can be seen that among the age group of 18-24 years, the rate of crime and violence can be
noticed. It can be stated that the youths are most vulnerable to be affected by these problems.
The physical risk factors that can be identified as the result of these problems are the
development of the severe injuries that can be fatal for the patient. Hypertension and the other
health issues can be developed from a tender age due to this. Having attraction towards drugs
and other intoxication can happen and affect the physical growth of the youth. On the other hand,
it can also be stated that the development of the youth and the child can be interrupted through
the problems such as intoxication and family bonding (Smith and Patton, 2016). It can be stated
that these factors not only hamper the physical health of the youth, but also the psychological
health of the individual can also be hampered. Lack of good conduce, temper and intoxication
can be seen among the youth that influenced them to be involved into the crime and violence.
Strategies to be taken
In order to take the right measure for the prevention of the problems that has been stated above,
it can be stated a number of the strategies can be taken in respect to the problems. The preventive
measures should be taken from the childhood, as it is the responsibility of the family to look after

the child properly. The child should be taken to the educational institute, so that his
psychological development would be developed properly.
The preventive measures should not only be taken by the family, but also the government should
also take proper steps. It is needed that the government and the police department should work
together for tackling the drug supply chain (Whitton et al. 2019). Moreover, it is responsibility of
the government to provide equality to the black generation in every aspect of life and ensure that
they get it. Apart from that, it is also needed that the positive school environments, improving
community resilience and good housing should be provided to the black community. It will help
them to get rid of the concept of discrimination and their [physical health and psychological
health would be improved.
Research methodology
For conducting this research properly, it is needed that the methods that are to be taken should be
identified properly. The research methodology includes the research philosophy, research
approach research deign, data sources and the data technique. This research has been developed
by following this certain framework.
Research philosophy
The research philosophy that has been taken here is positivism. The reason behind is that the use
of positivism would help the research to be specific and logical explanation can be taken from it
(Kumar, 2019).
Research design
The research design would be exploratory for this particular research. Using exploratory research
design would help to manage the lesser known facts and information regarding the research
topic, violence and related risk factors among the black youths that residing in the UK.
Research approach
For conducting the research, it is needed that the research should be developed by following the
inductive research approach. As the research is being developed on the information that has not

been used for any other research and new information is being recorded, this approach would be
the most suitable for the research.
Data sources
The research would be developed by the data and information that has been taken from the
primary and secondary research. The primary data would be taken from the respondents that are
being involved in the research and the secondary data would be taken from the sources, such as
books, reports, journals and the online sources such as online library and database (Flick, 2015).
Data technique
In order to conduct the research, it can be stated that the use of both the qualitative and the
quantitative technique, would be suitable for the development of the whole research (Walliman,
2017). The survey would be conducted among 55 people that would be the representative of the
black community residing in the UK. The interview of the physical and physiological
practitioners should be conducted for the proper information and data over the research topic.
