This paper will discuss and compare two powerful and eminent female political
personalities of USA. Acknowledging the increasing number of women population in various
fields of society which were previously known as male dominant, this paper will shed light
how women are rapidly empowering themselves by conquering the world around. Politics is a
sector, which is traditionally known as complicated and a patriarchal practice as the concept
itself is associated with power (Hawkins, 2018). In such a situation, instances of successful
female leaders as well as participation of several women candidates in election, have proved
power cannot be centered.
In this context, the name of Marsha Blackburn can be regarded working for Tennessee
Senate starting from the year of 1999 to 2003 on behalf of Republican Party. After that
seventh Congressional district of the same state was being served by her complying the role
of prestigious U.S representative. Besides being a politician, she has achieved success in the
field of business as well. Since, 1973 she has been continually accelerating her political
career and her aspiration of being more influential towards society and successful has become
prominent when she announced her decision of starting campaign for Senate seat of United
States, 2018, which is currently occupied by Bob Corker. As far as her political career is
concerned she remains extremely popular around conservative republicans. Elderly politician
Marsha believes in Republican concepts of establishing a compressed federal government,
which does not come with strict restrictions on citizens. State will make and amend laws as
per the requirements of citizens.
On the other hand, Megan Christine Barry has the same background as Marsha
Blackburn. She was a former businessperson too and a successful politician as well. She is a
“born leader”. Even when she was in corporate world, she used to handle events and deals so
well, which are proof of her excellent leadership qualities. According to Sances (2018), in an
industry, which is completely dominated by men Barry made significant impact in political

history of Nashville. Megan is eminent in terms of contributing in health care, NGOs and for
governmental purposes. Every time she had been interviewed, journalists find her as an
extremely intelligent, humble and full of leadership competence. Since the day of her
childhood, she believes in being confident enough about herself the most before doing any
work. Behind her strong character, there was a strong family value, which taught her why
women should have a career first. Undoubtedly, according to her ideology she empowers
women in every sphere of society. She is a potential candidate for the designation of mayor.
Currently, she is continuing with her role of leading with confidence and being the deserving
heir of family values and ethics. Considering leadership as a journey Megan is happy to come
forward in the political environment of Tennessee (www.tennessean.com, 2018).
With such ethical background and leadership quality, Megan Barry is definitely more
approachable to the people of Tennessee. Generally, young generation does not take much
interest into politics. This woman has excellent potential of leading future politics and her
ideology, a member of Democratic Party, although, it will attract young generation towards
mainstream politics. However, the chances of winning in case of Marsha Blackburn cannot
be dismissed entirely as she is experienced and comes with strong political background as
well.
