INTRODUCTION
Defunding the police means reducing the overall budget from of police department and
redistributing all of those funds to other social services which often seems to be underfunded. It
is necessary because it will allow to distribute the work among different social groups and
according to that work will be managed. In context of the file, the connection between black
lives matter will be explained in detail along with the call to defund the police. Also, why it
should be applied in UK as well will be discussed in detail.

‘defund the police’. Critically assess to what extent calls for defunding the police in
America also be applied to the UK?
Black Life Matter is the group which was founded in the year 2013 where major purpose
was to provide justice to black place as they are facing lots of discrimination since long time
period. It was found that black people were suffering in each and every sector where equal rights
were not being given to them and in order to reduce this sort of problem, Black Lives Matter
group was established. There has been lots of positives outcome of this particular group as
people has started to face less number of problem as compared to previous time period.
Secondly, concept of violation has reduced significantly (Walters, 2020). Currently, this group
has been working in the manner so that any of the black people do not suffers in any of the
situation and equal opportunity can be provided to each of the person. Even there are number of
police department which do not perform their work as per the requirement due to people in
different area people from black community has to face number of problems. In recent period of
time, the changes has been seen at a rapid speed where movement of Black Life Matter has
increased significantly which has reduced the problem which were being faced by black people.
Discussing it in detail, it has been found that campaign for black life matter has increased its way
to UK as well were similar problem can b easily seen. Even this problems are being seen since
long time period. There are certain circumstances where it has been found that police in different
place specific stops black people and conducts the whole checking process but same process was
not being conducted for white people (El-Sabawi and Carroll, 2020). These were some of the

major points which seen in recent time period due to which black life matter group was
established so that some of the positive changes can be brought (Rushin and Michalski, 2020).
Defund the police department is understood as the process in which the allocation of
fund is majorly distributed to different department so that positive outcomes can be obtained. It
is said that when fund will be distributed to different department then roles and responsibility
will reduce significantly. Whole of this process will reduce the problem as no one will have to
face any sort of issues at any period of time. In addition, whenever roles and responsibility are
distributed to number of department then it becomes quite easy to perform remaining part of
work and chances of attaining the favourable result also increases automatically. This debate was
arise in recent time period because there were number of occasion where police department was
not able to fulfil their duty due to which focus towards criminal activity and justice was
reducing significantly (Linden, 2020). But, if the duty was distributed to multiple number of
people then it will become quite easy to handle easy of the situation such as black life matter
group was established which has been working for reducing the discrimination which people are
facing in current scenario. In the similar manner number of other organisation or group which
has developed and even helping in reducing the problem for women and many other people
suffering from different issues. In addition, there were some of the circumstances were it was
found that police were not utilising the fund in a systematic manner due to which each of the
people were not able to obtain benefits as per the order being given by top level management.
Although, defunding the policing is applicable in USA which might not be applied to different
nation because rules and regulations are always different in each of the nation. But, applying it
to UK will be effective as well as higher opportunity will be available for UK police to perform
hier work in a systematic manner. The specific focus can be given to the person who breaches
the civil and criminal terms and condition (Jackson and et. al., 2020). According to the matter,
they can investigate the case in detail rather that focusing towards any of the other specified area.

CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, it has been concluded that life of each of the people matters
where it need to be understand that even black people has equal right to live without facing any
of the discrimination. In order to reduce any sort of discrimination, Black Life Matter has been
established and even it has been working effectively for attaining the targets. Secondly,
defunding the fund will be more beneficial for policing because burden from different
departments can be reduced easily so that each of the area can be focused in specified manner for
attaining the goals and target.
