Report
AI Summary
This report examines the use of blockchain technology to address security and privacy concerns associated with Internet of Things (IoT) devices. It highlights the increasing threats, such as cyber attacks and ransomware, that IoT devices face due to their reliance on networked servers. The report justifies the application of blockchain technology in IoT, referencing various authors who emphasize its effectiveness in enhancing security and transparency. It also acknowledges challenges associated with blockchain, such as signature verification and data redundancy, which need to be addressed to fully realize its potential in securing IoT systems. Desklib offers a wealth of study resources, including solved assignments and past papers, to support students in understanding complex topics like blockchain and IoT security.

2BLOCK CHAIN TECHNOLOGY TO SECURE ‘INTERNET OF THINGS’
Background
The background of the block chain technology to ensure security and privacy to the
IoT enabled devices is the main focus of this unit of the paper. The concept of block
technology is an important security aspect of the IoT based devices. The use of this
technology on those devices are known from various reliable sources as stated by the authors
(Christidis, & Devetsikiotis, 2016). The information related to the integration of the
technology in those devices can be also obtained from the primary sources and the technical
experts. Experts stated about the effectiveness of the technology for the IoT based systems in
terms of the increased speed of the devices and the security of the digital assists of the
business organization. After the introduction of the technology in 2008 the public
transactions are handled in a more effective way. Based on the various types of researches it
was found that the block chain technology is a very useful technology in the IoT enabled
devices as it is a decentralized and distributed process. The background knowledge about the
block chain technology helps in the prevention of the alteration of the data. The various
scholarly articles help in the standing the specification of the block chain technology in IoT
enabled devices. The transactions of the nodes can be managed well in the IoT enabled
devices (Kshetri, 2017). The IoT based systems are most of the times connected to an active
internet connection so that the block chain technology helps in protection the information
which are transported from one entity of the organization to another. The IoT enabled
technologies such as the wireless sensors have lots of complication in its structure which are
the main reason behind the use of the block chain technology as it would help in providing
greater transparency to the system.
Problem statement

3BLOCK CHAIN TECHNOLOGY TO SECURE ‘INTERNET OF THINGS’
The problem statement of the paper can be described as there are different types of
privacy and security issues associated with IoT enabled devices like threats coming from the
external threats such as cyber issue like white hat and ransomeware, the use of the block
chain devices will be having to deal with those issues in an efficient manner.
Justification
There are lots of issues such as the privacy and security issues associated to the IoT
enabled devices. Most of the internet of things enabled electronic devices runs on the
networking servers and there are lots of security issues in most of the network servers such as
the presence of the deadly viruses such as the ransomeware. These issues can be solved
purposefully with the help of the block chain technology (Huh, Cho & Kim, 2017). The
experiences and statements of different authors about the application of the block chain
technology in the internet of things enabled devices can be justified.
According to Zhang and Wen (2017), the transactions of the E-business can be solved
purposefully with the help of the internet of things. The authors of this source justified the
reason behind the incorporation of the block chain technology in the IoT enabled devices.
The statement of the author of the selected article helps in understanding the reasons behind
the application of the block chain technology to secure the IoT based devices as the
implementation of this technology has already provided great results for all the users of the
IoT systems. Security and the privacy issues of IoT enabled devices are improved
significantly with the help of the block chain technology (Bahga & Madisetti, 2016). The
authors position and point of view about the topic is justified in this scenario.
The support to the authors statement is justified as the application of the help of the
block chain technology in the Internet of things enabled devices such as the banking industry
which involves the transmission of essential data from the client’s side to the authority of the

banking organization and vice versa (Conoscenti, Vetro & De Martin, 2016). The authors
position is very much justified as the effectiveness of the block chain technology can be
understood with the minimal interconnection problems of the IoT enabled devices.
Thus it can be stated that the block chain technology is very much useful in the IoT
based devices to as the security issues of the transactions can be minimized efficiently. The
block chain technology is very much beneficial for the IoT enabled devices but there are
separate issues associated with the block chain technology as well such as the signature
verification issue and data redundancy which are needed to be minimized so that the desired
objectives of the block chain technology in the IoT devices are achieved.
