INTRODUCTION
Blue Healer is a Resort that also include catering, spa, accommodation and
administration. located in the Blue Mountains close to Sydney, Australia. The following
report is based on the implementation of sustainability policy and procedures by Blue Healer
resort. It will cover the environmental regulations and resource efficiency systems for blue
healer. Further, the report will also explain the benchmarks for environmental sustainability
and purchasing & Costing strategies in relation with Blue Healer Resort.
MAIN BODY
Environmental regulations applicable on blue healer
Environment protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, 1999 - It is the national
environmental law in Australia. As Blue Healer is a resort offering catering services
as well, it should not send its waste to the landfills to ensure protection of
environment and it should also recycle its equipments used at catering and
accommodation.
Environment Protection Act, 1994 - This Australian law is also applicable on Blue
healer and it lists the obligations to prevent the environmental harm and
contamination(Farooq, 2021). Blue Healer needs to follow this act and should reduce
its catering and plastic waste.
Procedures to assess Blue Healer’s compliance with sustainability regulations
Engage with Stakeholders – To comply with sustainability regulations, Blue Healer
must engage its stakeholders i.e. employees and customers to make them adopt
sustainability practices at the resort such as hotel staff, spa staff and kitchen staff.
Eco friendly office lighting – One of the main issue of Blue Healer is it does not
ensure sustainability lighting. The organization must use eco friendly administration
lighting and ensure less waste of energy at its resort. It is the duty of cleaners at Blue
healer to turn the lights off timely.

Waste Management – Blue Header must use its extra food for charity. It must identify
zero landfill opportunities.
Energy Saving – The company must use passive solar heats during cooler months to

Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) – This tool can also be used for
comparing one’s own sustainable performance with standard performance stated by
(SASB).
Global Reporting Initiative Standards – It promotes economic, environment and social
sustainability. It enables the organizations like Blue Healer to report their sustainable
practices for the purpose of improvement(Tiwari and Thakur, 2021).
Environment and Energy efficiency issues in hospitality industry
Biodiversity loss – The hotels like Blue Healer in the hospitality industry are
contemplating mass fish extinction that is a great threat to biodiversity.

With reference to Blue Healer, it can adopt the value based costing strategies in order
to attract the more customers for providing their best services by having the sustainable
supply chain. This will help in enhancing the trust among the customers.

In order to ensure the efficiency of the resources, Blue Healer should increase its
productivity and reduce the production cost. It should conduct the waste assessment so that it
can improve purchasing to reduce waste that will help in conserving energy and water.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, it has been concluded that an organisation should use
resources which consume less electricity and help in making the environment more
sustainable.
