INTRODUCTION
This report aims to provide an individual reflection on the topic of leadership and
management. In today's business environment, both leadership and management are playing a
very important role in the success and growth of an organization (Delanoy and Kasztelnik,
2020). This is necessary to understand by company that they should have an effective
leadership and management practices. It is important to understand the concept of leadership
and management practices which includes different types of approaches such as traits, skills,
behavioural approach, etc.
MAIN BODY
Part 1
Leadership and management are the important practices of an organization which
provides assistance to the organisation in order to perform best (Halkias and Neubert, 2020). I
identified in my team presentation that leadership and management are considered crucial in
the workplaces. In the team presentation, there was a detail of leadership and management
concepts. In the presentation, I got to know that leadership is refers to the social relationship
between two or more person which become better with the help of right guidance. In the
success and growth of an organisation, I found that leadership is necessary to be efficient as
well as effective. It is identified that leadership is the process which performed by leaders of
an organisation. On the other hand, management is found to be the administrative process
which is mainly focusing on managing the entire functions of an organisation. It is necessary
for a company that they should have an effective management practices so that they are able
to achieve the desired goals or result (Chen, 2018). I identified in the presentation that
leadership and management both are the key elements of success. Leadership is required to
encourage and motivate employees in order to achieve the desired results. Leadership is
found to be a management function which helps to direct employees for improved efficiency
and optimum utilization of resources. During the presentation, I got to know that leaders
should possess all the important skills and behaviour so that they can motivate employees
towards organisational goals. I also found that leadership provides a clear vision, promotes
creativity, values, growth, effective decision making, commitment, etc. In the case of
management, I identified that management is necessary in administrative department so that

Management is very crucial as it focuses on achievement of goals and objectives. The success
and growth is also depending on effective management as if it is not be good then company is
not able to achieve the goals and objectives (Bush, Bell and Middlewood, 2019). It is found
that management have much importance such as reduce costs, establishing equilibrium,
optimum utilization resources, etc. I also found that both leadership and management are
different in nature. I identified that leadership is found to be long term orientation as it
focuses on making the situations of company better. On the other hand, management is not
long term orientation as they are managing the functions and other operations for short term
period. In addition to this, I found that leaders should use a right approach s well as a right
style in order to lead the workforce. This is the reason that there are many approaches and
theories are found in leadership and management which always focusing on guiding an
organisation so that they can achieve the best result. I also found that management should be
used with the usage of relevant theories and practices so that managers of an organisation are
able to coordinate all the functions and align each and every duty with the goals and
objectives.

There was a group presentation on the topic of leadership and management, in which I
got selected as a team member. I also got an opportunity of leading my team in the group
presentation. During that presentation, I realized that it is not an easy process that means lead
a team is not an easy task. It requires an effective leadership as well as team work skills so
that a person is able to achieve the desired goals and objectives (Sobratee and Bodhanya,
2018). There were many challenges which I faced in the group presentation as every person
has different sentiments and emotions so it is fixed that there thought process will never be
match. In this case, it becomes very challenging to lead a team in an effective way as it is
requires a deep understanding of team members. I found very difficulty at that time as I was
unable to understand each person’s sentiments and perception. There were many conflicts
occurred as every perception has different opinions. Some of them want that they got
different slides in order to person in presentation whereas some of them told other things. So
it is not an easy process to coordinate functions. I identified that it is very important for me
that I have a good teamwork skills which assist in effective management of teamwork. I
learnt that teamwork skills are a crucial as well as other important skill which includes time
management skills, collaborative skills, etc. I also analysed that people do not like any order
