Introduction
To grow in the career, there are several opportunities present in the market place. An
individual can easily grow by availing the available growth opportunities. Career growth is
helpful in ensuring success in future period of time. It also helps in ensuring enrichment of
individual in significant manner. For this purpose, the individuals need to put significant efforts
in order to develop necessary skill set and competencies. They also need to assess their own
performance in timely manner so that appropriate improvements can be done in future
(Godward, Dale and Smith, 2019). The present report is a portfolio development which is
classifies in three sections. First section will cover reasons for personal development statement
and CV. Further, ASDA has been selected as an organization for the present report. It is a
prestigious super market chain that offers varieties of general merchandise and groceries to the
customers. Section B will include personal statement in support of application for work
experience within organization along with a detailed and appropriate CV. Further, SWOT
analysis and a suitable action plan will be covered in the section three of the respective project
report.
SECTION A:
The portfolio contains personal information regarding an individual. It includes the
necessary information about experience, study, personal growth and enhancement of individual
person. This also provides a significant scope of improvement to the individual in order to take
suitable corrective actions in the future period of time (Proctor, 2018). In present context,
portfolio will include necessary information about my experience and expertise. While working,
I have gained ample of experiences that will help me to grow in career in future. I got
communication skills, presentation skills, technical knowledge and more while working within
the organization. These experiences will allow me to get a better job or get promotion in the
current job. Additionally, my experience will strengthen my overall profile so that I can enrich in
the future career. Further, my future goals will also include in the present portfolio. These goals
are useful in motivating me so that I put my maximum efforts to get success in longer run. Apart
from this, the future goals also play an imperative role in encouraging me to put significant
efforts to gain tremendous amount of success in career. Along with the future goals, this will also

include the necessary actions; I need to take to attain those pre-defined goals. Further, this will
guide me how I can accomplish the set goals. In addition, I will also measure my success based
on the pre-defined criteria’s so that I can accomplish set goals efficiently. Moreover, the
portfolio will also cover the time period within which the goals need to accomplish significantly.
Apart from this, the knowledge, skills, I have are also going to cover in current portfolio. Here,
the knowledge and skills will allow me to perform my duties appropriately. By having such
skills, I will be able to grow and succeed in future career in an efficient manner.
Reasons for personal statement and CV
Personal statement is used to describe achievement, progress and growth of self. This is
considered a crucial part of job application. While submitting job application, it is highly
imperative to write a person statement. This helps a person in understanding own capabilities,
knowledge, skills and abilities. In addition to this, personal statement is also helpful in terms of
assessing the challenges faced by the individuals so that suitable actions can be taken in future
(Salter and Rhodes, 2018). In present scenario, I am looking forward to work at an remarkable
position in one of the prestigious organizations. Here, I will get ample of experience while
working on the current profile. Also, I developed ample of skills during my job. Communication
skill is one of the most crucial skills which I got during the work. This skill is useful in terms of
maintaining proper interaction with others. In addition to this, I will also enhance my
presentation skills that will prove useful in terms of delivering effective presentations at
workplace. Apart from these skills, I will also get several other skills such as time management,
team work, decision-making and more. These all skills and competencies will help me to grow in
my future career. In addition to this, I will be also able to put a better impression on my seniors
by having such skills and knowledge.
It is analyzed that CV is also useful in terms of demonstrating the work experience, skills
and knowledge. Basically, CV is an important document to reflect the experience, growth and
competencies of a person. It is the first medium of communication between the applicant and
employer. By having an attractive CV, one can easily get a good job (Pan, 2017). The main
reason of CV is to get a good job to attain tremendous amount of success in career. In other
words, it reflects a summary of all academic, personal & professional achievements with an aim
to interest a hiring manager for recruitment. Additionally, CV is also useful in highlighting the

value of a person. This is one of the best ways to present own skills, capabilities, competencies to
the hiring managers (Kutor, Raileanu and Simandan, 2021). In present context, I have been
prepared a CV to represent my skills, knowledge, attributes and more. This CV will cover the
experience I have been gathered so far along with relevant skills and knowledge so that I can get
a good job in future period of time.
Short overview of chosen organization
In present scenario, chosen organization is ASDA. It is a well-known organization of retail
industry. ASDA is supermarket chain of British which is headquartered at England. The
respective entity was founded in the year of 1949 by Noel Stockdale and J.W. Hindell. They
maintains a range of formats such as supermarkets, superstores, smaller convenience store and
more. In this regard, ASDA living store is dedicated to George and non-food products that offers
a range of George home, fashion as well as general merchandise to the customers. Basically, the
company is working in diversify fields that is important from the prospective of future growth.
The organization maintains dedicated staff to serve the customers profoundly. In addition, they
also have online stored in order to ensure the convenience for the buyers. ASDA grow over the
period of time and presently it has presence in different nations globally. The main rational to
select ASDA is its growth and achievements. The respective entity is working in diversify fields.
It has ample of opportunities of growth in future. Associating with such a growing company will
also help me to grow in my career in longer run.

Personal statement in support of application in organization context
To grow in career, personal development and growth is highly important. Here, personal
statement is used to describe achievements, knowledge, skills and competencies of an individual.
The main aim of writing a personal statement is to grow in future career. In addition to this,
personal statement makes a person enable to analyze own performance with an aim to make
necessary improvements in future period of time. Additionally, personal statement is used to
describe achievement, progress and growth of self. This is considered a crucial part of job
application. While submitting job application, it is highly imperative to write a person statement.
This helps a person in understanding own capabilities, knowledge, skills and abilities (Li and et.

al., 2019). In present context, I am looking forward to join the position of marketing manager in
ASDA. The respective company is a highly prestigious and renowned organization. Working
with such a big brand will add remarkable experience in my portfolio. This will also make me
enable to grow in my future career in significant manner. Additionally, I have necessary skills
such as communication, interpersonal, negotiation skills and more. I am able to communicate
with other people effectively. My communication skills allow me to maintain proper interaction
with internal and external people. This skill also help me in dealing with my hesitation while
interacting with strange people. Further, effective communication skills will help me in
maintaining proper flow of information within the organization so that suitable decisions can be
taken. Additionally, my interpersonal skills are also up to the mark which makes me enable me
to understand the needs and requirements of clients and provide them product accordingly. Due
to the respective skill, I am able to maintain significant interaction with different stakeholders.
Apart from this, I am also good at negotiation which is the most imperative skill for a marketing
manager. I can easily negotiate with people in order to get them agree on purchasing the products
as per terms & conditions of the organization. These all skills make me capable enough to make
an enriching and successful career within the selected company.
CV
CV is a document that includes summarized information of academic records, skills,
knowledge of a person to interest the hiring manager. The main purpose of creating a CV is to
attract the recruitment managers in order to get a good job in an efficient manner. In other words,
CV is likely to represent the best qualities of a person. Curriculum Vitae is short document that
describes personal and academic summary of a candidate. Typically, it covers necessary
information like work experience, academic credentials, awards, achievements and more. It is an
important document while applying for a job as it servers as primary medium of communication
between the applicant and employer. When writing a CV, one needs to cover academic history,
professional experience, qualification & skills, awards and more. These all details are really
important to get the attention of recruiters (Pretorius and Cutri, 2019). In present situation, I am
looking forward to make an enriching career by joining a prestigious firm. For this purpose, I
need to prepare a CV including all of my experiences, skills, academic details, knowledge and

analyzing own weak points so that necessary improvements can be done to in weak areas. In this
regard, people often carried out self assessment so that they can easily get to know their strong
and weak areas to take suitable decisions in future period of time (Duck and Miell, 2021). It also
helps in identifying skill gaps so that the individual can take necessary corrective actions for
future betterment. The major tool of identifying skills gap is SWOT analysis. This tool is useful
in assessing the strong areas which makes a person different from others. Also, the respective
tool also plays an important role in terms of identifying the areas which need improvements. By
identifying the weak areas, one can easily take suitable steps to make further improvements
(Evplova, 2019). In my case, I have been undertaken a SWOT analysis which is mentioned

From the above-information, it is found that I am lacking in ample of areas. To ensure
success in future, I need to improve my overall performance by overcoming my weaknesses. For
this purpose, there is requirement to create an action plan. This action plan will cover targets
along with the necessary strategies to attain those set targets. Further, time period will also

include in the respective action plan to attain the pre-defined goals in timely manner. In this
regard, the action plan is mentioned below:
