Task One:
Definition of the concept of personal and professional development
Personal and professional development plan is basically used to manage
one’s own learning and growth throughout one’s own career. It is important for an
individual to focus upon continuing to learned develop their skills and knowledge in
order to ensure that their work is effective and done as per expectations of
organization. It is important for a person to focus upon their personal and
professional development because it helps them in learning new skills and
knowledge that can helps in increasing growth opportunities for moving forward in
career.
Description and discussion of the value of short term goals
identifying at least 3 personal examples
Short- term goals are important to be focused upon as these short- term goals
at as milestones that further help in achievement of medium- term goals. These are
type of goals that can be achieved in 12 months or less. Personal examples of short-
term goals are:
1. Prepare myself for planning to study Abroad for Master’s degree
2. Will focus upon publishing my own research thesis paper within a year
3. Will work part time job for gaining experience.
Description and discussion of the value of medium term goals
identifying at least 3 personal examples
Medium term goals are goals that can be achieved within 2 to 5 years of time
period. These are goals that can help in achievement of long- term goals in an
appropriate manner. Personal examples of medium- term goals are:
1. Will complete masters degree within 2 year
2. Pay educational loan within 3 years
3. Will focus upon getting a job in a reputed organization

Long- term goals are goals that require more than 5 months of time period in
order to be completed or achieved. These are goals are important or self-
improvement and achieve desired position within one’s own career. Personal
examples of long- term goals are:
1. Become a general manager in a top reputed organization
2. Start one’s own business
3. Buy my own house

Personal development plan can be defined as a process of creating action
plan on the basis of awareness values, reflection, goal settings, and planning for
personal development within career, education etc. it is valuable for an individual as
it helps in developing required skills, qualities and knowledge so that desired goals

and Relevance’ affect the use of a source
Ways in which Author, purpose, reliability and relevance affect effective use of
a source have been explained below:
Author: Author of a source directly impact use of source because a good quality of
source will be having complete details of its author. Before using a source details of
its author can be checked and can be confirmed that whether author was qualified
and knowledgeable enough to provide that source of information or not.
Purpose: It helps in understanding what the source was created. Before using that
source it can be identified that whether that source consist of usage of any kind of
inappropriate or emotional language or not.
Reliability: IT helps in checking whether that source is reliable and information within
it can be trusted or not. It further help in understanding whether information within
the source can be verified from another source or not.
Relevance: It can be checked by analysing target readers of that source and to
understand whether that source is appropriate to be used or whether you are
appropriate readers of the source.
