1. Introduction
Personal development plan can be understood as the plan to increase the
ability of a person through learning and training opportunities. It is an ongoing activity
of learning and improving the knowledge and skills of person so that can be able to
achieve the individual life goals (Aliu, Aigbavboa and Thwala, 2021). This
assignment is based on the personal and professional development plan with
various type of goals. These goals are short-term, medium term and long term goals.
Moreover, it is also consist a PDP which helps a person to meet the goals within the
certain time limit.
2. Definition of the concept of personal and professional
development
Personal and professional development plan is a continuous process of
developing action plans based on values, self-reflection, objectives, awareness,
growth planning within the context of career, self-improvement, education and many
more. This action plan can be used by an individual and an organization both. The
main purpose of this action plan is to achieve the life goals of a person by enhancing
and boosting the inner skills of a person. It involves various types of training and
developing programs so that all three goals of a person can be attained. This will
support an individual to improve the existing performance in a academy or
organization. It can be also known as development of skills, talent, capabilities and
knowledge in order to create and grab the growth opportunities. This is a never-
ending process which lasts life long in a person's life. This plan outlines the three
goals of a person; short-term, medium-term and long term goals . All such goals
consists with certain time limit for the completion. It makes a person better and
different (Behari-Leak and Le Roux, 2018). In an organization, it is useful because it
enhances the individual and organizational productivity. When a person grows in his
career and develop his skills overall, can boost the chances of opportunities such as
additional duties and responsibilities in the company, an increment on salary and
wages and many more. Hence, the whole concept of Personal and Professional
development plan focuses on the improvement of person's skills and abilities to do
work.
3. Description and discussion of the value of short term
goals identifying at least 3 personal examples
Short-term goals refers to such goals that can be completed within a shorter
period of time or in a near future. This means goals can be attained by today, within
weak or months. It should be completed within a year. Short-term goals are planned
by a person in order to achieve them as soon as possible. This makes an individual
to think what he can do in right way. These goals are very important in a person's life
as they are leading to higher achievements in their life. These goals help a person to
understand the significance of time in order to complete the things in a definite time.

It is very vital for a person to know the importance of short-term goals as every
person whether he is a learner or a worker in a company has specific needs to attain
in the best possible manner. It can be better understood with an example that an
individual wants to purchase a big bungalow to live and for such reason he has to
work hard in order to raise his income which is difficult but not impossible (Bryan and
Clegg, 2019). He needs to improve his knowledge and skills at the workplace.
Developing or improving such knowledge and skills can assist him to grow. They
become more actionable and certain towards goals. Developing short-term
objectives leads to further success towards long-term aspirations. Creating short-
term goals can support a learner to create a better future and career for him. At
workplace, short-term aspirations can support him to become more productive which
improves his job satisfaction and performance.

Communicate and interacting more with co-workers.
Maintain a balance between personal and professional life.
Enhancing work-related skills.
4. Description and discussion of the value of medium
term goals identifying at least 3 personal examples
Medium-term goals are the goals that takes little more time than short-term
goals to be accomplished. These goals are in between short-term and long-term
goals. Since long-term objectives of a person takes longer time to be attained,
medium-term goals plays a role to encourage and motivate that person to take
smaller steps towards goals. Medium-term aspirations can be achieved within few
months to three years (Çetin and Et.al., 2019). There are numerous objectives that can
be done within short-term time. Such objectives can be taken as medium-term goals
which needs dedication and patience for the achievements. Both short-term
aspirations and medium-term aspirations can be used as a stepping stone towards
long-term objectives. It is essential for an individual as well as for the organization to
achieve long-term aims with the help of medium-term aims. It is also vital for a
person to develop SMART goals which deliver him satisfaction and encouragement
in order to further attain long-term goals with a particular time.

3 to 5 years. This facilitate a common thought of what options or directions a person
is needed to move forward in his life. It requires significant planning, efforts, patience

understanding long-term goals, a person can think about his learning that he will

look for certain job requirements that will help in achieving the long-term objectives.
Long-term goals adds true meaning to a person's life. It is important to understand
that failure of certain goals does not mean that a person cannot attained success or
other goals in his life. He must accept challenges, work on failures and significantly
focused on individual objectives to create bright future. For example, a person has a
desire to become the ultimate rich person in the whole universe. For such, he will
require to set their particular dreams and desires. This will take maximum time and
patience for the achievement.

Development Plan
Personal Development Plan is also called as Personal enterprise plan (PEP)
or Individual development plan (IDP). Personal development plan can be known as a
written document of self-reflection and self-evaluation which is applied in the
education learning and organization. However, planning for personal development is
a beneficial practice in an individual life. This plan is usually created in the
educational learning or within the workplace, which allows a person to set career
goals, identify strengths and weaknesses as well as finding the need for
development. This action plan includes a person's priorities, career goals,
opportunities and risks, sources for the goals achievement (Kang, and Et.al., 2021). It
is an investment in which a person manages his life in the most productive way to
get rid off obstacles and hurdles in terms of lacking skills or knowledge. This action
plan enables an individual to be proactive and not wait things to happen
automatically. An individual takes steps towards desired goals to make things
possible. In order to make an action plan, it is vital that a person must acknowledge
his strong and weak points in an honest way. It is very important to know that one
cannot achieve all goals at a time but surey he will gain an experience that will work
as reward in future. PDP involves commitment of a person towards goals
accomplishments. It provides a right direction in order to identify the solutions to
problems such as lacking of skills or knowledge. It works as roadmap to a person
which provides an self-evaluation and self-reflection. Every person has certain needs
and desires in his life and this action plan acts an guide to develop strategies that will
assist in obtaining the goals with minimal fuss. A person will think on his knowledge,
skills, learning, interests, market opportunities, capabilities, examine his own core
competencies. This plan also help a person to find out the available sources through
which he can develop his skills and learning. As PDP supports a person to know the
strong and weak areas, it overcomes the gap to become more productive and useful
at workplaces. A person develops PDP to attain the desires aspirations and goals
(Lavender, 2020). This plan will prevent an individual to take wrong decisions in his
life. A well-established plan will help a person to stay calm and relaxed in his
professional life. Moreover, it is also observed that people should not depend on

The conclusion is that personal and professional development plan plays an
essential role for both individual and organization. It focuses on the development and
improvement so that an individual can grab more opportunities for his life. Skills,
knowledge and learning are important because the competition is increasing day by
day. And to beat the competition, a person has to improve the abilities and skills. The
plan is consist with various goals in this assignment which helps a person to meet
the goals on time.
