Academic Skills and PDP

INTRODUCTION
Academic Skills and PDP refers to the use of a wide range of methods and techniques
through which the management of the overall needs and requirements can be done in a proper
manner (Cree-Green and et.al., 2020). Therefore, it is quite important that their use is made so
that a student is able to make sure that the comprehensive personality development can be done
in a right way quite effectively and efficiently in the future. In this report, a detailed and specific
focus will be made on the use of a Personal Development Plan so that the overall personality
development can be carried out in the right manner.
MAIN BODY
Personal and Professional Development- Personal and Professional Development refers
to the way in which the use of certain methods and techniques can be made so that the attainment
of the goals and objectives in the future can be done in a proper manner which will help in
enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness in the future (Howlett and et.al., 2021).
Value of Short-term goals- There is a particular value of Short-term goals because it is
quite essential that a student is able to make sure that through setting these goals he/she is able to
ensure that he/she can make the right level of progress quite effectively and efficiently in a
proper way (Kavanagh, Ryan and Horan, 2020). In this way, the development of a thorough
understanding can be made in the future in a right manner.
As a University Student, I have also set short-term goals to be attained in the future. The
examples of these goals which have been set up by me are as follows-
 Enhancement of Time Management Skills has to be done in the future. This will help me
a lot in ensuring that the management of the time can be done in a right manner so that
the management of the tasks can be done within the stipulated time limit. Therefore, in
this way it can be stated that the attainment of the goals and objectives in the future can
be carried out in a proper way effectively and efficiently.
 The development of appropriate Communication Skills has to be done in the future. This
is quite essential and should be done because a person has to communicate in the right
manner with the different types of people in a proper way. Thus, In this way it can be
stated that it is quite important that the use of these skills is made.

 The development of Teamwork Skills is also quite essential to be done. Therefore, it is
important for me to interact more with my fellow team members an ensure that better
cooperation and coordination can be done with them. In this way, the overall
management of the team goals and objectives can be done which will thus be quite
helpful in ensuring that the overall efficiency and effectiveness as a team can be
increased in a proper manner. This will lead towards ensuring that the work of the team
can be managed quite appropriately.
Value of Medium-term goals- It is also important that the medium-term goals are set by the
students so that they are able to make sure that the appropriate management of the work can be
made (Keevy, 2020). In this way, they will be able to develop themselves and prepare in the right
manner for their long-term future quite effectively and efficiently. Therefore, it is highly
necessary that the appropriate management of the needs and requirements can be made in a
proper way. As a student it becomes quite necessary to set these goals for the future because this
is especially helpful in meeting out the medium-term needs and requirements in a better manner.
Thus a student must perform a proper analysis of himself/herself and must ensure that a right
decision is taken accordingly. Thus, it is important for a person to make sure that the the goals
which are being set can lead towards maximization of overall level of efficiency and
effectiveness in the future which will be thus useful in ensuring in attaining sustainable level of
success in a proper manner. The medium-term goals which I will be setting an University student
are as follows-
 The development of Adaptability skills is quite important and should be done (Lejeune,
Beausaert and Raemdonck, 2021). This is especially quite important that I am able to
develop these skills because this will be helpful for me in ensuring that the adaptation can
be done according to the wide range of needs and requirements. Nowadays it is important
to ensure that these skills are enhanced because in a dynamic environment making fast
adaptations with the change in the needs and requirements is essential to attain
sustainable success in the future.
 Enhancement in the Problem-Solving skills is required to be done by me so that the
assessment of the problems can be made in a proper manner and the use of the right
approaches and methods can be made to solve them quite effectively and efficiently. This
will be quite useful for me in ensuring that a wide range of problems can be found out

and the use of the approaches and methods can be made to solve them. Nowadays it is
quite important that the assessment of the problems can be made so that a proper solution
to them can be found which will be helpful in attaining overall efficiency and
effectiveness.
 The use of Creativity skills is quite important and should be done because this will be
quite helpful in ensuring that the creative ideas can be developed and used in a proper
way (Martzoukou, 2020). This will be quite important for me in making sure that the
development of the right ideas for the future can be made which will be quite helpful in
the future and will help a lot in taking the right actions. Nowadays it is highly essential
that the appropriate creative ideas can be developed so that a student is able to make the
right level of progress in the future.
Value of Long-term goals- It is highly essential that the different types of long-term
goals can be developed in the future so that the a wide variety of various types of needs and
requirements can be met in quite a proper manner. For a student, it is quite important that the use
of long-term planning can be made so that these long-term goals are set in a proper manner
(Nykanen and et.al., 2021). This is needed so that a person is able to excel in long-term in
Academic Subjects in the right way which will thus help a lot in progressing in the future. Also,
it is highly essential that a person is able to review the plans for the future and make sure that the
right long-term goals can be set by him/her so that long-term sustainable success can be achieved
in the future which will thus lead towards enhancement in the the overall level of efficiency and
effectiveness in a proper manner.
The long-term goals which I will set are as follows-
 I will develop Interpersonal skills because through ensuring their development I will be
able to make sure that the right-level of communication can be done quite effectively and
efficiently with the people. This will help me in interacting with my fellow classmates
and therefore in this way I will be able to develop new ideas and ensure that I am able to
make progress in the right way in the future. Developing of the networks with people is
quite important and should be done because this will be helpful in ensuring that the
people are able to make sure that these networks can help them a lot in the future.
 I will develop Time Management skills because through developing them I will be able to
manage my time in a right way for completing a wide variety of tasks so that I can attain

the goals and objectives in a proper manner. In this way, I will be able to ensure that I
manage my time in a right way and use it prudently for managing a wide variety of tasks
so that they can be completed with a certain time period. The use of time can be made in
a proper manner so that more time can be given to studies which will thereby help a lot in
excelling in the Academic Subjects in the future.
 I will develop Leadership skills because by ensuring their development I will be able to
make sure that I can lead by displaying the appropriate qualities and therefore this can be
quite useful in leading the people in a proper manner. In this way, I will be able to make
sure that I can lead different types of people which will be very helpful in enhancing the
overall efficiency and effectiveness. This will be useful for making progress in the future
and excelling in the attainment of the professional goals and objectives which have been
set in the future.
Value of Personal Development Plan-
It is quite important that the preparation of a PDP can be carried out so that its use can be made
for the purpose of ensuring that the Personal Goals and Objectives can be attained appropriately
(Rasiah, Kaur and Guptan, 2020). There is a value of a PDP because of the following reasons-
 Through making the use of a PDP a person can make sure that the development can be
made in the future so that the overall personal efficiency and effectiveness level is
enhanced (Simsek, 2020). This will be quite useful in ensuring that the identification of
the way in which growth and development can be made is identified.
 The use of a PDP can help the students to make the right plans for the future through
which they are able to ensure that the attainment of long-term sustainable success can be
done quite effectively and efficiently in the future. For a student, it is quite important that
the use of these particular plans can be made so that the higher marks can be attained in
the Academic Subjects in the future.
 PDP can be used by the students for ensuring that the assessment of own strengths and
weaknesses can be made. This is very important because by doing so the overall level of
assessment of the course of action to be taken can be done so that the right actions can be
taken quite effectively and efficiently in the future in a proper manner.
 PDP is important because through its use the students can find out the mistakes which
they have made in the past and make sure that the use of a wide variety of rectifying steps

can be taken in the right manner so that these mistakes are not repeated again. Therefore,
in this way the scope of making the improvements can be found out so that the
improvements are made and therefore the overall attainment of the goals and objectives
in the future can be done in a proper manner (Volkova and et.al., 2020).
 PDP is also crucial and must be prepared because through its preparation the people will
be able to ensure that the enhancement in certain skill and competencies can be done
within a set time period. Therefore, in this way this will be quite important to make sure
that the use of this plan can be made in the future by the students.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it can be concluded that Academic Skills and PDP refer to the use
of certain types of various methods and techniques through which the overall level of efficiency
and effectiveness can be enhanced in the right way quite properly. Therefore, it is quite
important that the students are able to put their focus on them and are able to make sure that they
can bring the desired improvements in themselves which will thus help in attaining the future
goals and objectives and managing out own needs and requirements in the future in a proper
manner.
