INTRODUCTION
Structural areas are the unit of employees who have same goals and motives and they do also
have related skills and expertise. For example, a company's sales section is a common functional
area, and the body in this area would all be concerned on by selling the company's goods and
commodities. Firms also organize functional areas for many reasons, it's more efficient to have
the staff with the corresponding skills as there will have less conflicts and they will understand
the point of view of the other person and then it is easy for them to communicate with each other
and the working comes ready and the tasks are done with god quality and on time with the good
quality. In the respective report of IOM Electronics Ltd, it is evident that John has to be quick
with his decision of making the functional area and it will also help John to have a effective
group of people and the training sessions are also there so that the functioning get easier since
employees working on similar functions work together and can share their skillfulness and ideas
to the company(Tubis, 2021).
1.1 Explain the various functional areas in business organisations.
There are some of the functional areas by researching and designing a business that involves a
thorough analysis of the business in these areas:
MARKETING: The marketing skills are very essential part in every organization so as
in IOM electronics, it is evident that marketing will make revenue , planners should also
know and understand the potential of the employees and examine how they will complete
them. Almost all business operators mistakenly use an inside out approach to marketing
in that they plan their goods and services first and then look for some way to sell it to a
mistily defined group that is out there
FINANCE: most of the business people focus on finance as it is the essential part in any
of the organization and also the basic need of every business because every business is
started with the investment of capital and there are some people who are known as
investors who invest their money to the company for getting their money used and earn
some of the benefits and profits in term of cash(Tang and Zang, 2021).
HUMAN RESOURCES: there are some of the organization which stops the hiring
process and it is not good, of equal concern should be the ability to hire, and weather
those hired fit the duty for which they are hired and some of the companies are lacking

behind labour shortage as IOM electronics is a small scale industry and it has shortage of
so many factors. Therefore, the planner may have to understand what attracts workers,
and offer them what they want. Managers must treat the employees like their customers
with the same understanding of what motivates their behaviour.
REASEARCH AND DEVELOMENT: It is the process of making new and improved
technology that can provide a competitive advantage at the firm, industry, or national
level. While the rewards can be very high. As, the company is dealing in electronics they
need to get the advanced and updated technology which is mostly liked by the consumers
as by changing times the technology is getting advanced so the company needs to make
the strategies accordingly so that they can raise their revenue in terms of sales
made(Pinnavaia and Berisha, 2021),
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: It is most basic and demanded concept nowadays
in every of the organisation or industry that they have to get the good staff with the skills
of information technology as it has shown that it can be useful skill to work and work
with ease and nowadays almost companies and electronic brands do have the IT experts
and the staff who has knowledge about the information technology.
1.2 Explain the types of skills needed by employees to be able to work effectively in
these functional areas.
There are some of the skills which are essential for every employee to have and they are very
basic skills and they are discussed above:
Communication : This is the skill which is the most important part of employee
profile, he or she must be a good communicator and as there are so many of the things in
the marketing, as with the functional areas marketing need the good communication skills
so that it can be a rise in the sales and marketing increase, with the employees with this
skills is the positive aspect for the business as it is making the business spread easily and
expansion of the company also(Chae and Olson, 2021).
Leadership : It is the skill that encompasses the ability of an employee, group or
organization to lead or manipulate the employees to work with their best abilities and the
managers are the leaders of the company they guide and train the employees about how
to work and implementation of the working of the organisation. Leadership has been the

most comfortable part if the employees have good leader then they have opportunities to
perform and give their point of views accordingly(Li and et.al., 2021).
Dynamic Thinking: The employee must be knowing that he has to change his mind with
the changing working environment and he should have the quality of thinking
accordingly with the situation and give the best outcome to the company and perform
efficiently and effectively(Feldhacker, and et.al., 2022).
Adaptive Approach : This is the ability of employee to get the knowledge of something
and understand it in a way that there are no problems in the company and the employees
are left with no queries and doubt, when they are trained to learn something they must
learn it in first go and be clear with the knowledge(Li and Ma, 2021).
Quick decision-making: the employees must be quick with his decisions about the
working and he should not take long time to perform some activity and complete his all
the duties with full efficiency when he will take the decisions quickly then the working of
company will be effective and efficient which will ultimately lead to increase in
productivity.
CONCLUSION
In this respective report, it can be conclude that the skills are the major part of any of the
organisation and all the factors are the valuable parts for completing the tasks given to the
company and there are some of the functional areas which are part of the business and they built
the company and lastly there is discussion about the skills that employees must have in them as
the skills are important to be an efficient worker for the company and performing with all the
skills make the employee a good learner and good as the guider to all the new people joining the
company after them.
