INTRODUCTION
Background
Training and development is being defined as providing educational services within the
company relating to the recent changes taking place in external environment. The business
operates in external environment and it is very important for the company to use all the latest
techniques. Hence, it is not necessary that the employees have proper knowledge relating to use
of all latest things. Thus, in this case the use of training and development is being undertaken.
The present study is based on Morrison which is supermarket established in 1899 and founded
by William Morrison. The present research will outline the importance and different techniques
of training and development which will lead to professional development.

The reason for the selection of techniques relating to training and development is that this
will increase the knowledge that how training can be imparted in better manner. The reason
pertaining to the fact is that there are many different changes being taking place in external
environment both relating to personal and professional working. Hence, as a result of this, the
use of training and development is important and also it is very crucial that all these are
implemented within learning for both personal and professional development. In addition to this,
another reason for selecting this topic is personal and academic interest of the researcher.

As per the views of Kinnie and Arthurs (2018) the use of training and development is
very important in the modern and advance world. the reason underlying the fact is that in case
the new things will not be learnt then this will make the person obsolete within the working.
Hence, as a result of this, the working and efficiency of employee will be affected in negative
manner. Moreover, in the opinion of Kassim and Ndegwa (2017) the major technique of training
and development involves use of coaching. This technique involves one to one training and assist
in identifying the weak areas and try to focus on improving those areas.
In against of this, The Most Effective Training Methods (2021) argued that the simulation
is also another technique which will assist in effective development and training. The reason
underneath this fact is that in case of simulation the artificial environment is being created and
then related training is being imparted. This will assist person in understanding the working
requirement in better and effective manner. Along with this, Rahayu, Rasid and Tannady (2019)
supported that there are some of the challenges as well which affect the imparting of training
among the employees. The reason pertaining to the fact is that these challenges restrict the
employees to learn new and advance things prevailing within the external environment. The
major challenge being faced by the company is the resistance to change. Many a times
employees resist to not adapt to the changes and this creates problem in the training and
development as well.
