1INTERNET OF THINGSS IN HOME AUTOMATION
Internet of things is an example of emerging technology which can be used for various
purpose. Internet of things is the idea where the physical devices are connected with the other
devices through the internet connectivity. The controlling of the devices can be done through the
use of the internet and the controlling devices [3]. It has been seen that the use of the IoT is
increasing at the different sectors of the industries and the organizations. Apart from that the
users are also getting interested in using the IoT for various purpose. The main objective of this
paper is to evaluate the different aspects of the IoT.
Discussion
Internet of Things has played an important role in the home automation. The home
automation defines the smart home. In the smart home system, the devices in the home can be
controlled through the use of the internet controlled device [1]. The smart home system defies by
the device connected with the each other through the internet connectivity.
Availability of the security features:
There are different types of security features which are available for the organization. In
this context, the use of the different secured protocols for controlling the Wi-Fi services can be
mentioned [5]. The Wi-Fi service operating for the use of the smart home operating system can
be controlled and secured through the encryption technique using user name and password.
In most of the cases, the face detection system is used for the development of the smart
home system. The face detection system in the smart home system will able to detect the familiar
faces. In case, if intruders are trying to enter in to the hose the face detection system will alarm
the owner of the house about the current situation and will take the proper initiatives to mitigate
the situation.

The users can check the visibility of the smart home system if they are not present in the
house. Apart from that the controlling of the equipment in the house can be done through the
controlling device. Apart from that fetching the data from the devices which is in the house can
be done through this advanced system.
Benefits of home automation system:
There are certain advantages of the home automation system. These are-
Reduction in the installation cost: The installation cost is reduced as there is no cost
included for the cabling purpose.
Easy extension and scalability of the system: Using the internet and wireless network for
the development of the smart home system increases the scalability of the overall system [4].
Apart from that the whole system can be easily extendable and controlled through the internet.
Maintaining the enhanced security: It has been seen that maintain the advanced security
can be achieved through the application of the smart home operating system. It has been seen
that as the system can be handled through the use of the internet the accessibility of the whole
process will be increased.
Internet of thing device that can be brought to the users:
There are many internet of device components those can be helpful for the daily
functioning of the organization as well as the individual users. However, it has been seen that
there are some of the features those can be presented through the internet of things. One of the
application of internet of things is the use of the self-locking system at the doors [6]. Through
this application, the users can control the locking system of the door. This system will be helpful

if the owner of the house loose the key or getting the access of the key is not possible for the
owner.
Benefits of the new features:
One of the main benefit of the proposed use of internet of things is that the users can
control the locking system in hassle free manner. Apart from that the self-locking system will
also provide enhanced security through which the security of the overall system will be
increased.
The availability of the resources is another advantage of the using the internet of things.
The users can avail the resources at any time and whenever it is needed [2]. Apart from that the
mitigation of the overhead cost can be achieved through the implementation of the smart home
system. The mitigation of the carbon footprint and a decrease in the energy consumption can be
achieved through the use of the smart home system.
Potential threats:
There are certain threats of using the internet of things in the smart home security system.
In the smart home security system, the reaching of the data can be done by the intruders. It has
been seen that in most cases, the breaching of the data and information is achieved through the
internet of things. In this case, the security is needed to be maintained in a proper way.
Apart from that, as the system is complex, in case, if there is an issue in the functionality
the user has to face the problem. It has been seen that in some case, the system generates the
false positive values. In that case, the authorized user may not gain the access of the system.
