AI Summary
This Honours Research Project explores safety management observations within the construction industry, acknowledging the significant efforts made to enhance construction safety while recognizing the persistent losses experienced. It highlights the complexities in evaluating crucial factors related to construction, referencing studies on safety attitudes, accident data, worker protection designs, and safety culture. The project further addresses risk and challenges associated with occupational wellbeing and health in construction, noting the increasing understanding of these complexities alongside accident rates. It considers inherent threats and economic concerns related to safety measures, emphasizing the role of the Occupational Safety and Health Potential Risk model. Finally, the research touches upon the role of risk management in small building assignments in Singapore, noting the importance of risk management for project success and highlighting challenges like time management and finance, while also recognizing the positive correlation between risk management and project performance.

Exploration of Safety Management Observations in the Construction Industry
Significant initiatives have been taken in order to uphold the dimensions related to
construction safety however, certain levels of losses are still being witnessed in the industry.
Several series of construction safeguard studies with various subjects have posed complexities
for investors and stakeholders in order to evaluate the vital factors related to the construction
domain (Zhou, Goh and Li 2015). However, in recent times an occurrence of series of
construction safeguard investigation subjects like safety aptitudes, the scale and data of disasters
or accidents, design or framework related to protection for workers as well as safety culture have
been witnessed by several scholars (Zhou, Goh and Li 2015). Furthermore, certain associations
of construction protection observation has been recognized whereby the first group has been
conductive from the standpoint of safety management procedures, the second has been purposed
to evaluate the influence of individual as well as group distinctiveness that is related to builder
protection and the last group uses accident or disaster information in order to enhance safety
performance level.
Management of Risk and Challenges Associated With Occupational Wellbeing and Health
in the Construction Industry
In recent times, there has an increasing rate of understanding associated with
occupational welfare and health complexities by several associations associated in the domain of
the construction sector. Though, the significant developments have been effectively
accomplished, the scale of accidents or disasters has been enormously higher in comparison to
other nations. Two fundamental causes have been taken into account in order to cast light on the
growing rate of accidental events pertaining in the construction sector namely, the inherent

threats because of the characteristic of the operation along with the specific form of the building
assignments and enterprises (Sousa, Almeida and Dias 2015). Secondly the persistent economic
concerns related to the utilization of supplementary protection measures and directives in the
elevating market with high rate of competitiveness. The significance of the role of Occupational
Safety and Health Potential Risk model must be taken into consideration to aid the cost-benefit
evaluation of occupational protection and health risk management process.
The Role of Risk Management in small building assignments in Singapore
The concept of Risk management must effectively be utilized while initiating any
construction project in order to provide the guarantee of attaining successful project goals
without focusing on the size and cost spend on it. Several studies have been made which had
expected to make observations on the role of risk management engaged in the small sized
construction projects in Singapore in relation to its status of operations, significant obstacles as
well as the influence of the risk management process on the level of performance of these
projects (Hwang, Zhao and Toh 2014). Studies reveal a considerably reduced scale of
implementation of risk management while initiating any small sized construction projects
whereby time management, finance, profit levels have been considered as critical challenges in
effectively executing these projects. Furthermore, investigation outcomes reveal the positive
association between execution of risk management and the development in the project quality,
rate of expenditure and scale of performance of small sized projects.
