Executive Summary: I am going to present a business plan for a ecommerce book
seller organization and would include value preposition, research highlights, cost and revenue
structure, marketing strategy, pricing strategy, and HR structure of the book
seller organization in the presentation.
Value preposition: These Slide Shows what all features would be provided through the
ecommerce website to the users. These are the ways consumers can use the website. For
example, users can purchase both old and new books here and can even read them online if
the e-version is available. A recommender system would be used to make recommendations
on books based on their preferences. Other than these common ecommerce features, we will
also provide library , feedback services, and third party connects on Good reads.
Research: Indian book market is worth Rs.261 billion and there are over 135, 320 searches
done online for books by these users. Most of these , around 73% purchase text books. 67%
of ecommerce buyers across globe purchase books online. We would be targeting Asia
which is a larger market with revenue potential of $573 for online books. We will have two
major types of segmentation of book buyers - demographic and consumption based.
Demographic segmentation would be done based on age, gender, race, religion, occupation,
income, family size, life cycle stage, and nationality while consumption based segments
would include Physical book purchasers, Online readers, and Library subscribers.
Cost Structure: This shows how we would incur cost monthly and yearly as well as how
revenues would be earned over the years. We would break even in 1st month of 4th year.
Marketing Strategy: We will target book buyers across Asia including book lovers, parents,
students and learners. We will primarily use digital marketing platforms for promotion such
as Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. As shown in the slide.
Pricing Strategy: Price would be lower than market. Delivery charges extra but not for loyal
buyers. Library subscription price would be very small and there would be added home
delivery charges.
Human Resource: We would follow a hierarchical structure with four levels including senior
managers, junior managers, executives and the staff.
