trainer/assessor will be assessing your work and provide you with constructive feedback on Canvas. This
task will assess your skills to:

Establish work practices that support innovation
Promote innovation
Create a physical environment which supports innovation
Provide learning opportunities.
In this assessment you will analyse the provided simulated scenario, undertake research in the topics
presented, conduct 1 presentation to demonstrate your skills and provide report to your Trainer. By
successfully completing this Report you will provide the required performance evidence of your
competence in building and sustaining an innovative work environment.
What are you required to do to undertake this Case Study?
You should carefully read the provided documents of Bounce Fitness and undertake all questions. The
task includes: (i) Analysing the case (ii) Undertaking required research (iii) Presentation and (iv)
Reporting.
To successfully undertake this assessment, you should be doing the following:

Details of the tasks to be undertaken in this assessment are provided in this document. The tasks listed in

required to write a personal reflection of the way in which you have established procedures

Collaborative work arrangements: Leading a team is always a challenge and to maintain
innovative within a team is also difficult. As a leader of our team, it was one of my main and
primary responsibility was to led innovation within team members. So that all the team
members can work and collaborate with each other in order to develop innovative products
and services. In order to foster innovation and work on every team member for development
of an innovative team I tried to develop a step- by- step procedure so that so that innovation
can be led and an innovative and positive organizational culture can be identified. First of all I
tried to build collaborative working arrangements and for this communication was the most
important factor. in order to led innovation within my team members by opening all the lines
of communication between by team members so that each and every employee can feel free to
communicate with each other, speak up their ideas, openly provide their feedback. It open
communication further resulted in collaborative working as all the team members felt free to
communicate and collaborate with each other. This directly helped me in motivating team
members so that they can provide their ideas and suggestion so that a creative and innovative
idea can be identified and worked upon. I personally feel that communication is one of the

culture of innovation. Not only this, I focus upon encouraging all of my team members to

soon as possible. Open communication not only helped in enhancing collaborative working
but also resulted in creation of a creative atmosphere which aspire others so that they can give
their best. And further helped me in leveraging overall strength of the team members.
Building team capacity to contribute to innovation: After focusing upon collaborative working
arrangements, I tried to focus upon building team capability to contribute to innovation. I had
divided all the task among team members as per their strengths and weakness. Main motive of
dividing sub task among team members was to make all the team members understand that they
all are responsible for innovation. This further helped every team member in understand their
roles and responsibilities so that they can give their best for development of innovative solution.
Then in order to achieve final goal, I focus upon motivating all the team members to work upon
final goal rather than focusing upon problems or issues. This directly helped me in developing a
problem- solving procedure though which problem can be resolved. In order to enhance overall
capability of all team members, I tried reencourage team members to focus upon all kinds of
ideas. There were no wrong answers but weird answers and I encouraged all the team members to
encourage weird answers so that any kind of creative solution can be identified.
Formal and informal learning opportunity: In order to led innovation within team members it is
important to provide learning opportunities to all the team members. I tried to provide all kind of
learning opportunities to team members whether they were formal and informal learning
opportunity. For formal learning opportunities I tried to arrange training for team members,
conducted seminars for team members so that they can enhance their knowledge, skills and
qualities and give their best for the same. For informal learning I used to provide different task to
team members to work upon so that they can research about the same and use their current
knowledge and skills, observe others and complete task five to them. Both the type of formal and
informal learning helped me in enhancing overall performance of the members. It not only helped
me in building team capability but it further helped in enhancing overall awareness of team
members about current market trend, topics, issues, new technologies and many more. This
provision of formal and informal learning opportunities further improved basic soft skills of team
members, encouraged them to work on the project by giving their best as it further opened
opportunities for them for growing within their career and achieve their both long and short terms
career goals.
Evaluating ideas: But for leading innovation within team, I faced major difficulty in evaluating
ideas. It was important to evaluate ideas because ideas are main building base of successful

innovation and if it not focused upon then it can become a failure and demotivate team members.
But mostly it was difficult to make team members understand important of evaluating ideas
because most of the employees though that innovation is about developing creative ideas but in
fact, it is about identifying ideas that can help in providing competitive advantage to the
organization. So, in order to evaluate ideas I developed a step by step process of evaluating ideas.
First of all I had focused upon involving all the team members in identifying idea which is most
likely to succeed. This helped me in making every team member feel wanted and had importance
within the team. After identifying ideas that can succeed, I had focused upon contacting experts in
the field so that they can evaluate complexity of the idea, things that can go wrong and ways in
which that idea can be worked on. When idea is evaluated by the experts, I used to contact middle
management staff who can present the idea in front of senior management, financial team so that
they can confirm whether that idea should be worked on or not, when that idea can be started
working on and overall financial budget within which that idea was required to be completed.
After approval finally resources required for the idea were also identified so that it can be worked
upon in an appropriate manner. This whole process helped me in evaluating and identifying which
idea is worth and can be worked on. Mostly for evaluation I used SWOT analysis were strengths,
weakness, opportunity and threat of idea can be evaluated.
Celebration and promotion of innovation: Whenever my team members successfully achieved a
goal and objective pre- defined earlier, we used to celebrate so that every team member feel
encouraged and worth working for team. I used to promote creative or innovate idea identified
within team by providing a proper reason So that all the team members feel encouraged and work
together for providing much better ideas. For promoting innovative ideas, I used to conduct
brainstorming session every month. It helped in encouraging every team member so that they can
give much higher level of suggestions.
Consultation: Many times, I also focused upon motivating every team member so that they can
focus upon conducting survey by consulting customers or consumers for identifying demand of
innovative product. Not only this, it consulted every team member as well about need of
innovative product, ways in which innovative product or service can help organization in fulfilling
need. Want and desire of their clients and customers. I personally felt that consultation weas one
of the major steps that helped in leading innovation within team members. I used to consult every
team member of my Bounce Fitness Centre Cairns whether the innovative idea we are working on
is correct or wrong. Consultation not only helped me in getting view point of others but it further
helped me in gaining idea of what everyone thought, how every one was contributing in leading
innovation within team and how determined every member of team were to achieve final foals and
