BUSINESS PROCESS MANAGEMENT AND SYSTEMS
Part B: Reflection repot: Best practices of BP case study
As part of the BPI, I need to reflect upon how the various aspects of this process
engineering aspects have helped me to enhance my learning prospects as well as benefited me
to progress in both personal and professional career with ease and efficiency. It has also
helped in learning about the various aspects of business process management and systems as
well as facilitate my decision making skills and communication skills to interact with others
and make them understand about these aspects too (Chang, 2016).
As I have completed by Engineering degree, so I already have some interest in this
business process management and systems, which also made me understand about the various
aspects including the efficiency of the business process management and systems and its
contribution to the value and benefits to the customers largely (Hammer, 2015). Considering
this as a process centric approach, this could help me to understand how it can impact the
entire business performance and at the same time, result in higher engagement of
stakeholders along with improving the process of communication too. The most important
components that I have learned from the Business process management systems are about the
people, process and technology (Vom Brocke et al., 2014). The life cycle of this management
process has been dependent on the survey done for the organisational and technical
environment, which also made me understood about how the BPM can enhance both
technical performance and the create a positive environment where the business needs of
operate (Trkman, 2013).
The entire topic presented in Part A also allowed me to understand how the BPM has
improved the ability of business to respond to the changes in market environment and also
delivered faster responses, which are critical for maintaining flexibility and for streamlining
the business functions and processes largely. Most importantly, it can also allow me to

become a successful entrepreneur while forming a new business and at the same time, acquire
the skills and ability to make decisions. This could also be beneficial for understanding the
decision points and at the same time, should make me understand about the Total Quality
management or TQM process, Lean procedures and Six Sigma procedure too (Rosemann &
vom Brocke, 2015). The Enterprise resource planning or ERP system also helped in storing
the data and information together about the business functions and processes as well as
retrieve those, whenever required, by the stakeholders in business.
Not only while starting a business and managing the Business process management
and systems, I need to engage many people as part of the process such as the BP thought
leader, business process owner, business process engineer and also the individuals who know
to use information technology systems for making the BPM life cycle keep running and
functional all throughout. Fro, the presentation, I also learned about the difference between
As-Is and To-be processes, which allowed me to learn how to draw flow chart, representing
the various sets of activities within a process and at the same time, understand the essence of
qualitative and quantitative measurement of data and information. As it could be seen from
the name itself, the To-be processes represent the various actions to be undertaken for
enforcing values, beliefs and manage proper ethical rules and regulations to succeed in the
future and also implement necessary changes, whenever required (Van der Aalst, 2013).
I was always interested in learning new prospects, which also allowed me to know
about the process governance, where the activities managed by people have been governed by
work ethics, guidelines and rules along with the codes of conduct, policies and principles of
the organisation. Being a manager or leader in the future would allow me to understand how
the vision and strategic implementation are necessary to manage accountability and also
improve the process of decision making. With the learning of this concept, I was well
accustomed with the Big Data analytics, which also improved my communication skills and

interpersonal competencies. The use of spreadsheets was learned by e as well and also how to
manage databases to store and retrieve data and information required to make the business
process management cycle run smoothly (Rahimi, Møller & Hvam, 2016). For the purpose of
data analytics, the correlation and regression analysis were used, which also helped in
acquiring relevant data and information and thereby, manage business process improvement
steadily and within quick time as well. The BPR process also helps in identifying the vision,
mission and implemented plans for redesigning the approaches and ensure performance
measurement for continuous innovation of business processes. The Kaizen approach,
according to me, could also help in promoting continuous innovations and improvements,
furthermore, brought positive changes to deliver the values and benefits to the clients much
more comprehensively (Jeston, 2014).
The BPM process components are immensely reliable and effective for process
automation too and due to this, I understood that the content centric processing and pre built
frameworks also helped in better modelling and simulation to gain deeper insights into the
business. The workforce would also become, as understood by me, more collaborative and
innovative, which could lift the performance and ensure proper testing, review and approval
prior to the implementation (Chang, 2016). The workflow would become standardised,
which should also create scopes and opportunities for mutual understanding and at the same
time, integrate technological aspects for enhancing the process of automation and accelerate
the processes as well through improved quality management, allocation of resources properly
and by managing costs too. Not only does this business management processes and systems
were understood by me, but also I have learned about the principles and policies of context
awareness, which favoured the understanding of the vision and mission statement as well as
the culture and industry within which, the business competed with each other (Hammer,
2015). Due to this, all these aspects were learned by me and enough information and data

have been gathered to put forward my questions and I gained the solutions to my questions
too much easily. Moreover, the deeper insight into the business processes further helped me
to remain competent and skilled in succeeding in my future professional career, thereby, even
maybe emerge as a successful entrepreneur too.
