AI Summary
This report provides a comparative analysis of two media reports concerning Brexit. The first source is a blog post discussing the potential advantages of Brexit, focusing on regaining sovereignty. The second source is a magazine article, which presents the UK's decision to leave the European Union due to high membership fees and undemocratic laws. The report highlights the similarities in the two sources, particularly regarding the UK's continued membership in the EU post-Brexit. However, it also notes the difference in the origin of the news, with one being from an individual's perspective and the other from a group, thereby analyzing the potential for bias in each source. Compare and Contrast of two media reports from diverse sources
Introduction
After the evolution of the digital age all of us mostly rely upon the digital platforms for news, the
traditional news sources although still relevant but growing digitalization process has resulted in
growing usage of digital platform more than the any other platform for obtaining a news (Kelly
et al. 37). In this report, a comparison will be done between two media sources for same news.
Discussion
The two diverse sources selected in the study are:
1. News From Blogpost By Philip Allott published in April 27th 2019.
2. News From Magazine article Billy Perrigo published in March 29th 2019.
Both the two sources are concerned about Brexit, which is new occurrence in the purview of
United Kingdom. According to the magazine, UK is leaving European Union because UK is
paying a high membership fee to them and not only these laws were undemocratic in nature
(Perrigo 1). The magazine shows that most prominent supporter of Brexit is Boris Johnson who
was the former Mayor of London. Independence Party leader Nigel Farage also advocated
Brexit. In this aspect, the news in the Blog post shows that Brexit will provide several
advantages to UK and this advantages will aid UK to regain its sovereignty (Allott 1). The Blog
post shows that even after leaving EU, the laws of EU will be applicable to the trade members of
the EU. This view of customs union according to the magazine sources is same because here also
it shows that after leaving EU, UK will remain a member of EU.
Conclusion
From the above analysis upon Brexit it can be seen that most of the points provided in the two
news sources matches. However, the only difference is, the blog post news source is the view of
an individual while magazine source is the view of group. As such, there are no biases in news
sources.
