1.1. Background:
The recent development and negative coverage on the CSR activities of Brico devices have brought forth
massive damage to its brand. It has been supposed that a corporation is failed to offer good working and
healthy atmosphere for the employees, low pay rates, disposal of water in an unsafe way, and indulging
activities that environmentally non-sustainable.
As per the view of Doh, Husted, and Yang, (2016), it is significant for a corporation to make a strong
brand. In this way, it can use the brand equity in business in order to retain and influence the customers.
Schwartz (2017) illustrates that CSR is used as a procedure of initiation and responsibilities designed and
followed by the corporation and other regulatory bodies for the wellbeing of society and economy. It is
also illustrated that there is high correlation amid CSR of company and brand equity.

2.1. Meaning of Corporate Social Responsibility
As per the introduction part, it is stated that CSR is the initiatives of the firm to take accountabilities for
well being of society and environment. Setó-Pamies and Papaoikonomou (2016) stated that CSR activities
and accountabilities are not only built via company observation over the social and environmental

accountabilities but also there is required to focus on regulatory section made by governmental bodies and
the information offered by the established environmental safeguard groups.
In the current scenario, customers are not only concerned regarding product quality they buy but also
focuses on the production of the company. Slack Corlett and Morris (2015) asserted that the modern
customers not only satisfied with the quality of the product but also they are highly concerned regarding
the responsibility of company over the environmental and social causes.
2.2. The Importance of Corporate Social Responsibility:
In the existing business scenario, CSR has become the essential standard of practice. The following are
certain benefits of using CSR practices:
The CSR practices would offer the opportunity for the corporation and its different workforces to
contribute towards the society as well as environment (Rupp, Wright, Aryee, and Luo, 2015).
CSR aids a company to create the favorable image that would indirectly or directly contribute with
regards to business.
CSR also helps to generate the healthy and favorable atmosphere for employees at the workplace.
It also provided a productive result for the company in terms of attaining the aim of the corporation

Conclusion
After the investigation, it has been found that a corporation has a different issue regarding CSR. It is
getting affected adversely over its name and brands. There are different concerns faced by Brico Devices
related to CSR. It is concluded that the absence of adequate protection and defective ventilation system
creates the unhealthy work atmosphere for the employees. It is also summarized that dysfunctional and
absence of protective equipment in the wielding section, that gains the possibilities of accidents and
calamity. It can be also summarized that employees get low payment due to minimum wage government
policies.
Further, an employee complains with regards to payment have not been elaborated and met with a feasible
solution. Employee turnover is increasing due to management failure to come with a better solution for
overcoming the concern of employees. In addition, ex-employees are thinning regarding poor work
condition and payment concern of Brico Devices with the general public. It affects the name and brands of
the company to get ruined. In addition, the absence of efficient and effective energy management system
and maximum usage of fossil fuel and the non-degradable material is key CSR issue of Brico Devices. It
can be also concluded that poor waste disposable procedure and policies are another concern related to
CSR in Brico Devices.

Recommendations
After the findings, it can be recommended that Brico Devices should equip more protective equipment for
their workforces in all the concerning departments. Further, all defective ventilation system should be
maintained or replaced to work effectively. The management should also focus on restructuring the entire
payment system and should release the awaiting bonuses and other compensations for the respective staff
(Jorge, and Peña, 2014). In addition, it could be suggested that all the complaint asserted by workforces
should be tabled and considered to develop the feasible solution. An efficient energy management system,
as well as environmental policy, should be developed and through this, usage of non-degradable materials
and fossil fuel should be declined and even eliminated if possible. Furthermore, it could be suggested that
an updated waste disposal policy should be synthesized for valuable disposal of the fiber and non-
degradable waste materials (Husted, 2015).
