1 INTRODUCTION

2 DESCRIPTION OF THE EMPLOYER ORGANISATION AND
DUTIES
2.1 Description of the operations of the employer
Brightpit Ltd is a relatively small family organization based in Petrozavodsk,
Russia. Brightpit was established in 2015 and was represented by the two restaurants located in
different parts of the town.
The first part of the business is a full-service traditional restaurant named "Soloha."
The restaurant is located in the suburbs of the town, by the beautiful lake Onega. It has two

gigantic floors, six private outside rooms, and a summer terrace. The restaurant serves Russian
and Ukrainian cuisine for the town residents and guests from other districts of Russia. Soloha
has its high season in summer when people drive through on their way out for holidays and
warm days when the town dwellers come to enjoy the beach. Moreover, the restaurant provides
a magnificent atmosphere of a Ukrainian village with its various decorations and style
decisions.
The next part of Brightpit is represented by a restaurant called "Gosudar." This is a
small restaurant near the city center of Petrozavodsk. The cuisine served is all based on the
Russian national recipes. The restaurant provides an atmosphere of the 19th century when rich
Russian families use to live in palaces, and their rooms were decorated with golden candle
holders. The location of the restaurant is geographically near the center, but the area is not
saturated with other points of social life or any business hubs either. Therefore, walk-in guests
are infrequent, and Gosudar appears to be more suitable for the people who own a car or for the
bookings in advance, dinners, and parties.

This internship was supposed to make me decide what I want for my future.

The key objective of the curriculum is to be able to enhance students with
managerial skills and knowledge that will be applicable in the careers for productivity in
different business areas. This internship was exactly on the same track as it exposed to a
business environment where I had to apply many of the skills I learned in class. Within the
company, I could engage in much of practical supervisions and follow up operations to ensure
the company’s image is maintained. Planning duties and briefing the employees on some

employees during my engagement with this company.

This is a big company with a much higher star rating within the town and much of
the operations here are done with a lot of accuracies. Organizational skills and my ability to
lead were practically tasted. Communication as a skill learned in class helped me in growing
bookings and increasing revenue since I was able to create good communication with guests,
staff members, and marketing personnel. Putting much of my efforts into organizing the
operations, ensuring staffs are on their high-performance mood, and consistently working on
time management helped me meet the company objectives.
4.2 Personal capacity
4.2.1 Student’s own view/self-evaluation
All the skills that I keenly collected from the lectures made me earn the quality I
displayed at the company. Engaging all the staff members and getting to listen to their views on
the operation was one of the powers I decided to possess and indulge in for proper operations.
As a manager, doing the evaluation is always important as I have been learning, and I could not
leave it as part of my planning preliminaries. I was doing a lot to ensure sanitation at all levels
in the preparations and delivery of services as well as ensuring the provision of more food staff
that were previously not provided. The introduction the Deep Dish Pizza created room for more
visitors, especially from America, to be frequent in the hotel, increasing the revenues. Many of
the Russians were also pulled by the testier pizza, which is an American dish helping win the
trust of many customers who popped in regularly for meals. On a scale, I can rate myself to

have been much higher, having incorporated all the skills gained in the school to be able to
relate well with both the staff and clients and boost the hotel image and revenue. I can't believe
that I was able to even go much better than was expected of me.
4.2.2 Employer representative’s view
With close supervision, there was an excellent display of managerial skills that
were indeed ideal for the hospitality industry. From organization collaboration, all the way to
supervision, there was a good self-conduct and healthy relationship that was majorly aimed at
meeting the objectives of the company. Creativity made part of problem-solving, and there was
a great utilization of technology in the management and organization of daily tasks. In one way
or the other, the internship was conducted with much higher skills despite a few errors, such as
over concentrating on a single task that resulted in improper task management. This student
showed much of a good personality in a big way relevant to the hospitality sector and business
at large.
4.3 Field-specific practical work-life competences
4.3.1 Student’s own view/self-evaluation
This work is demanding. Within the first two weeks of operation, I could not
handle the pressure from various departments. Within such this kind of a business with many
workers, a lot of issues always crop in during the operations that have to be solved. Before I
could get to strengthen myself, quitting was close to me, and confusion was almost making a
basement in my mind, especially when I was to report to the director on a weekly basis. At
some point, managing my emotions was a hard nut to crush, following my inadequate skills. I
had not been in such a position before to have experience with controlling emotions. This did

not stop me from trying my level best to resolve all issues without anyone noticing my fight
with hash emotions. During supervision, I try to put much of my focus on the company's image
and objectives. This has always resulted in quality services that have boosted customer's
interest in the services, as was depicted on their consistent feedback. I believe in having made
my efforts in resolving organizational disputes. This was possible due to my good
communication and interviewing skills that enabled me to gather information to be able to
make good decisions in attempts to resolve conflicts within the company.
4.3.2 Employer representative’s view
In line with this company objective, a lot of qualities are displayed with much
professionally during the internship. Both knowledge and wisdom were greatly brought into the
business. Challenges were approached in a very mature way with no signs of fear, and this
beefed up trust and support from other employees. A little bit of difficulty was experienced in
organizing the older members of the staff, but this did not cost much to the company since the
workflow was maintained. In a general observation, the performance was great and
professional.
5. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
I think this company connected my thesis to the scope of the internship. Skills
obtained during the internship period were ideal and in line with course objectives. In the
company, many of the clients gave feedbacks, which was excellent on an average scale since
many of them were pleased with the kind of services and how they were conducted differently
from past experience. This was good and really builds on my personal confidence and led me to
have bigger desires to learn more skills to be able to land into one of the world's leading

organizations. This family business was just an excellent place for nature skills. Going through
guidelines that are presented for the position, I can really say that I gained a lot from this
company. The director is one of the soft-hearted individuals I know of who helped me so much
even at the time am on my lowest point, and he could try to make me understand my roles and
the need to carry out the duties with perfection.
What I liked about the internship was the exposure to the working environment that
I was able to experience and the health engagement I had there. On the other hand, there are
some minor issues that can be handled at a personal level during the internship process. These
include uncooperative mentors and unnoticed works. Some of the mentors are just hash and
creating a lot of fear for the students. At times, you get called for works that you were not ready
for.
APPENDIXES
During my period in the company, a consultation was one of my major sources of support.
Seeking from my immediate boss and coworkers without forgetting much of online research on
some complicated issues made me go the far I did.
I learned about both advantages and disadvantages of working for small companies. Everything
having been left under my control, I had to figure out a strategy that is in accordance with the
company's policies and apply to be able to keep the company moving steadily.
