INTRODUCTION
Business reports is kind of assignment in that the manager use to analysis the particular
situation that can be a present life situation or a case study, by applying business approaches to
develop different types of suggestions to improve the process. BBC (British Broadcasting
Corporation) is a public serving broadcaster of UK (Klepac and et. al., 2020). Having its
headquarter in London. BBC is the oldest broadcaster in the globe and having huge number of
employees. This report will evaluate the type, size and scope of British broadcasting corporation
and interrelation of its function on organization structure, after that it will determine the intrinsic
and extrinsic influencer of business operation is analysed by SWOT and PESTLE analysis. The
impact of globalization on strategy of organization and its decision-making.
MAIN BODY
Type of BBC
The organization is a combination of people who are set up with motive of achieving the goals
and objectives. The current business industry have different types of organization (Mathias and
et. al., 2019). Basically the organization are differed from each other on basis of their purpose of
doing work. As some organization in the market are doing their activities to generate profit,
some are to build image in heart of society and few are doing work to promote the social cause
and wellness. The British Broadcasting Corporation is for profit organization performing its
activities to generated revenue (Manning And et. al., 2017). Its is a public corporation company
not a government or private corporation. The BBC is regularly increasing its profit margin with
innovative technology and attracting audience to prefer their broadcast for information. As per
the annual report of 2019 company £4.8 billion is total earning of company. The customer's of
the company is regularly increasing with the time as they are providing their information on all
the modern electronics. As the BBC has various channels on local and international the BBC 1,2
are two flagship channels of company. The documentary and cultural and news, children and
other channels are also provided by company as this will attract the customers. The radio is
another way to transfer the information they have approx ten station to reach the customer's and

generate the profit. The BBC is doing its all activities in order of attracting the customer's and
expand their business to generate more profit.
Size of BBC
As every organization is not operated for profit, yet businesses are started with profit motive it is
not necessary to come with huge workforce. There are different size of organization micro, small
, medium or large (Kessler and Scolnic, 2017). In micro size organization have very few people
in its work force that could be 10 employees in total as their area of operation also very small
they general deal in the surroundings people. Small organization have approx 10 to 49
employees' in total to perform its activities and their targeted customers are surrounding area and
other market as well. Medium size organization have 250 employee's and having a wider area to
attract the customer's their scope is basically high. The large organization have more than 250
employees' to perform the organizational activities. The distinguish of different size of
organization are based on number of employees they have in their workforce.
BBC is a broadcaster of public service in UK, the size of BBC is basically large as there
are 22,000 number of employees in the British Broadcasting corporation. The employees are
regularly doing their work an achievement of organizational goal. The BBC is regularly
recruiting more and more employees as per its work requirements. The BBC is a largest and
oldest broadcaster in public services.
Scope of BBC
As the organization scope is according to its size and motive to perform the activities. The
British broadcaster corporation is a large organization that have a huge scope in the international
market. BBC is a large organization having with huge number of customer's who are using the
data and information regarding the education, entertainment and other activity. The BBC has
increased its scope with developing its services in its field. The company is providing services as
per its value in the market of broadcaster. The company is a multinational firm of providing
digital services as having a large scope in current market.
Interrelation of function of BBC
The British Broadcasting Corporation is doing its all the function interrelated. The manager is

Production department with marketing department : the British Broadcasting Corporation is
making its services more effective regularly as customers are searching the quality of service in
the market and to increase the loyalty they provide quality and innovative services. The BBC
make an inspection of market before producing its services as if the services which are provided
by company is not according to the competition then people will not prefer that service and shift
to some other broadcaster. The marketing is done according to the production of services. The
BBC give a target to marketing department to do their work accordingly. The BBC have to
market its services so that people get aware of service which are offered by company.
Human resource with finance department : the human resource aim to is to take care of its
employees. The human resource deal with employee training, recruitment, compensation as well
as rewards. Department of human resource work very closely with finance department as the
finance department allot the particular budget to human resource for the process of recruitment
process. The finance function is done keeping in mind the activities of human resource the
employee's salary expense as well as other expense that are incurred doing the process. The
human resource providing effective employee to finance department so that they can perform
better in the works (Finch, 2019). The human resource department provide regular training
sessions so that they can improve their skills and achieve their organizational goal they also act
as supply chain of employee's. The finance department provide budget to human resource so that
they can select the most effective employee's for the organization.
Marketing department with human resource department: The management of BBC have to
make the resources available whenever they are needed so that they can utilise the resources
effectively. The BBC is performing its marketing function very closely to human resource
department because marketing of all the channels that are provided by BBC is done with the
people who are appointed by human resource. They are appointed as per the need of marketing
activities. As the marketing function communicate the brand to its potential and new customer.
The collaboration of marketing and HR communicate brand to its employee's. Both the function
are work together like marketing creates and transfer the brand message to its employee's.
Production department with finance department: the production department main duty is to
produce its goods and services of BBC. To produce its goods and service they need the

technology and other researches that are conducted with a huge expense the company need
finance to pay the expanses (Carlborg and et. al., 2019). The employee are also required to
handle the activities of producing and distribution of service, and they also need budget for
recruit the efficient employees.
Internal and external analysis of BBC
Internal analysis is the complete investigation of a company's internal constituents both
tangible and intangible. It helps the organization decision makers to accurately determine the
areas for growth or improvement of practical business strategies or business plans. Internal
analysis includes the SWOT of the company. With the help of SWOT analysis of BBC,
identification of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the business has been
considered in relation to business competition and project planning (Gürel, 2017). Strengths: The strengths of the business refer to those areas which make it unique in the
market. The old reputation of BBC is the major strength of the company. From several
decades' organization has maintained its level continuously and because of this audience
have great faith in the news item and broadcasting of BBC (Kabeyi, 2019). It's another
strength is that it is the largest broadcaster in the world. Company knows each and
everything about the journalism in detailed manner which brings new things to the
viewers. With the help of advanced marketing strategies BBC gives tough competition to
its competitors. Technological advancements are also one of the major strength of the
British Broadcasting company because it uses highly technical web designs, softwares
and graphic designs. Weaknesses: Weaknesses of BBC refers to the areas in which the company required to
concentrate more and there are chances to do better in near future. Many audience share
their views that BBC broadcast biased news and touch the sensitive issues of the society
in the world. This review somehow effects the brand image of the company. Another
weakness of the company is that it has very high operating costs. In comparison to its
competitors, British broadcasting company faces issues in regard to operating costs
(Ramachandran , 2017). Opportunities: Opportunities of a business refer to those areas which helps the
organization to grow bigger and better. One of the opportunity for BBC is becoming

trendy in the current scenario. Organization needs to be more involved by covering global
events by providing better analysis. Joint partnership with another satellite channels will
bring more opportunities for the business. The popular image of the BBC has crossed all
the boundaries and due to which the company got revenue from Asian and South
American market which acts as an opportunity for the business of the company. BBC
also trying there best to become unbiased is also considered as one of the opportunity for
the business because with the help of clearing their image the company will able to build
strong image in front of audiences. Threats: In competitive phase, BBC also feels threat from the company like CNN who
works in the same field and offer similar services to the audience worldwide. There are
several domestic channels that are rising to give strong competition to BBC. It might
decrease the viewership of BBC (Helmold, 2019).
External analysis is a process of investigating industry environment to determine
opportunities and threats of the company and analyse segment that will drive towards the
profitability and growth of the company. With the help of PESTEL, BBC identifies the factors
which effects their business in the market place. Political: BBC is founded on Royal Charter and controlled by Board of Governors.
However, the chairman of the company states that the BBC remain independent of
political and commercial influence but it has to face certain pressures of government in

the company have centralized recycling point for waste. Organization also works for
conserve electricity also feature that the company works towards the environmental
issues as well. The organization feels responsible with regard to environmental factors
and to provide fair and ethically accurate services to the communities (Elavarasan, 2020).
Legal: The legal issues faced by the BBC is that the company is dependent upon the
government as the board of governors still chosen by the government. The amount of
licence fee also decided by the government only. The legal issues in terms of licensing as
the licence given to the channel is never for infinity faced by the British broadcasting
company (Beacham, 2020).

BBC have influenced with globalization strategy and decision-making which implies by
stretching the economic, social and political activities across the world. The globalization plays

in every possible country and connected to local providers for better connection in various
countries. BBC also have focused on various major issues and corporate between news channels
and international channels such as discovery, national geographic, etc. With the effective
introduction of live broadcasting of two newsrooms at the same time helps in decision-making
and production cycle. Organization created local, national and international newsrooms which
helps in assessment of audiences at geographical level. The globalization benefits each and every
industry in the form of increased decision-making behaviour and leadership of managers of the
company (Nurmi, 2018). BBC offers easy access of information services to its customers
globally, due to which the company is able to understand the needs and wants of the consumers
and act accordingly. Making international applied strategies and taking decisions which are
going to implement worldwide are not easy for the organization as it includes the risk
management principles which required highly qualified employees to work efficiently because it
also restricts and interrupted through political and various other factors.
Globalization also increases the risk taking ability of the company which helps in taking
decision-making and helps while facing intense competition from different global organization
working in same industry. Due to this the company also focus on diversified operational market
across the boarders in order to increase their market share. Operate globally is the primary
strategic plan of any organization to enter in foreign market with an aim to grow and sustain
competitive advantages. Whereas, most of the companies fail to provide the expected
competitive advantages so, in order to take competitive advantages company must analyse and
make effective decisions towards international diversified strategies to avoid any kind of
business failure and loss as currently the market is very dynamic in nature and globalization
effects the industries both directly and indirectly. However, it has some counter impacts that
globalization might pollute the environment, may impose poor working conditions within the
organization and involvement of low wages of local workers are some issues faced due to

globalization. This is the major reason that viewers take it as a threat towards the world's cultural
diversity (Picard, 2020).

The report is concluded that the business report is type of activity in which the BBC
manager to used to inspect the situation with the business theory to develop the various kinds of
solution to improve the process of report. The BBC is the largest broadcaster of UK which is
continuously expanding its business as the company entered the market with the motive to
generate profit and its main aim is to maximize its profit with customer's satisfaction. BBC is
regularly developing its channels quality to enhance the profit margin. The BBC is a large
organization that is having large number of employee's to perform its functions of organization.
The company is having majority of UK customer's who are using their services and their scope
of BBC is large as the modern world use the digital technologies and the company is providing
its services in the same. The function of BBC perform their activity very closely and they are
link with each other as the marketing function used to perform its activities very closely to
human resource, finance, production and vice-versa. The internal and external factor analysis
will help the organization to inspect the environment and company can improve its activities by
inspecting the strength and weakness of company. BBC has affected with globalization as earlier
the company is not having adequate stakeholders to invest in the company and also lead to
expansion of the company.
