INTRODUCTION
Globalisation is defined as a process through which a business or other organisation
develop international impact or begin operation at global level along with formulation some
specific objectives or goals. For this, they also take supports from their every department like
marketing, accounting, Human resource etc. so that firm can easily establish at global level. It
also increases the competition at international market that indirectly assist the customers in
purchasing good quality product and services in affordable prices. Taken organisation for
present report is British Telecom which engages in telecommunication sector and provide
services across the world. The firm was founded in the year of 1969 and in present scenario,
company is operating in around 180 countries. The organisation always tried for expanding their
market share so that a good brand image can be maintained in the world. This assignment will
discuss about the background of report along with aims and objectives. Research at small scale
will also conducted in this report. Data collection methods and its interpretation along with
performance review and recommendation at last will be covers in this report.
TASK 1
P1: Background of the project along with its aim and objectives
Present assignment is all about globalisation and also discuss about its positive economic,
cultural and ethical on the different business operations of a firm. In this report, British telecom
is chosen organisation who wants to expand its business functions at international level so that
their global brand image and profitability can be enhanced (Zajda, 2015). For it, management of
organisation have to determine the positive influence of globalisation in the context of taken firm
that is briefly explained as under:
Economic impact: Globalisation enhances competition in the marketplace which also
provides impact on economy of a particular nation such as, it provides huge employment
opportunities for the citizens of nation, Payment of huge tax-duties to the government etc. It also
enhances the standard of living of citizens which automatically leads in growth of economy of a
country.
Cultural impact: Different country owns a different culture that requires to understand by
a firm who has decided to expand its market share. For this, Management of organisation have to
take support of their employees who have adequate knowledge about the particular culture so

that needs and requirements of citizens of new marketplaces can easily understand and fulfilled
accordingly. With the help of it, organisation will easily expand their market-share in more better
manner (Younos, 2011).
Ethical impact: There are various norms, beliefs and legislations that are formulated for
the firms along with a purpose of directing or supporting them so that they perform their duties
in an ethical way. This is an easiest way through which an organisation can easily make good
position in the marketplace.
For expansion of business at global level, Management of British telecom have to
encourage their various business operations and take adequate support from them so that
organisation can successfully expand its business operations at a global level. Impact of
globalisation on different business functions of British telecom are briefly discussed as below:
Operations: As cited firm is enhancing its business operations at global level so they
have to deal with different clients so that they gets sustainability and growth in the marketplace.
For this, operation department have responsibility to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of
network operations so that better telecommunication services can be provided to customers
(Spender,2014). It also makes better cooperation with the other departments so that duplicate
activities can be identified and removed in proper manner.
Marketing: For successfully expansion of business, organisation have to influence the
buying behaviour of customer in positive manner. It can be possible through effective marketing
of product so that huge revenue and profitability can be gained in the particular nation.
Therefore, marketing department have responsibility to formulate an effective market budget so
that marketing activities can be performed in desired manner.
HR: Globalisation of business needs support from the employees who are working in the
organisation. For this, HR department have responsibility to recruit skilled and experienced
employees of different culture through which citizens of new country will be gained effective
services of the company (Springer,2011).
Accounting: This department has liability to record every transaction which is made
during the globalisation of business so that organisation can easily expand the market-share at
global level. For example record of every expense will encourage the management to focus on
recovering invested amount in future time and if they can't recovered then further expansion will
be stopped in immediate manner.

Cost Cost is an essential element which is required at every field
during globalising the business at international level. For
instance, updating the technologies, recruitment of new
employees, purchase of latest machinery and tools etc. It
also support the management to formulate an effective
budget that guides employees to invest in appropriate
manner so that resources of firm will be utilise in optimal
manner. Management of organisation have estimated the
budget of 500000 pound for expanding the business
operations at international level. Whereas, Researcher have
requested 45000 pound from the firm for conducting a
research for them (ROTARU, 2014).
Scope Scope is connected with the expectations of organisation
through which they can estimate their profitability after
expansion of their business at international level. As the
firm is providing better telecommunication services in
various nations therefore Management of British telecom
have wide scope in every marketplace they enter. It will be
helpful for them in gaining good market share which will
leads them towards higher profitability and sales figures.
On the other hand, researcher have also scope of
determining the interrelation between the globalisation and

period. Furthermore, researcher have also opportunity to
examining the influences of globalisation on various
business departments (Pryke, 2012).
Time Time is an important factor which is essential for
estimating by the firm because if it is not considered in
expansion of business. Then it will provides difficulties to
the firm in gaining competitive advantage in the new
marketplaces. It also increases the cost of products or
services due to which predetermined activities will not
carried out by the firm in a given time period. So that, It is
very essential for the managers of organisation to set a
proper time frame for the expansion so that expected result
will be received within a shorter period of time.
Management have forecasted that globalising of business
will take approx. 8 months. Whereas, the researcher have
forecasted the time period of 3 month for executing an
effective research (Polonsky, 2018).
Quality Customers are considered as the main element because
without them any firm can't takes growth and success in
the market. Therefore, managers have duty to involve the
customers in organisational activities through which they
will be able in providing quality services to the customers.
For this, they can use online platforms such as social
media, website of company etc. so that better feedbacks of
customers on the services of company can be received in
an effective manner. With the help of it, they will make
modifications in their existing products or services which
will ultimately leads towards providing satisfaction to the
customers. On the other part, Researcher can also enhance

funds, inexperienced employees etc. Such risks can be
negatively influences the expansion of organisation. So
that, it is very essential for the managers to make
consideration on the risks and provide effective training to
the employees so that they can face the future challenges of
risk in appropriate manner. Whereas, researcher have to
face various risks which are related with the unwillingness

performance of team mates. These factors can also restricts
them in getting effective outcomes at the end of research.
Hence, this is very essential to formulate the plans and
strategies in advance so that research programme will be

Resources Resources are also an essential factor that needs to be
arranged and maintained in advance so that optimal
utilisation of resources can be possible and organisation
can successfully expand its business operations at global
level. For the organisation essential resources are
employees, tools and technologies, appropriate funds etc.
which are important and required to be invest in proper
manner. On the other hand, researcher have estimated
essential resources which are required for them in
completing the research programme such as books and
journals of different authors, internet, websites etc. so that,
a better and reliable conclusion will be gained at the last of
research (Rohrbeck, 2012).
P3 Work Breakdown structure and Gantt chart for the project
Work breakdown structure: It is basically defined as the categorised the work in smaller
activities so that given project will be carried out in more effective manner. In addition to this, it
is used for properly execution of project so that assign project can be completed in the given time
period. With the help of Work breakdown structure, the project can be accomplish in an effective
manner because of segmenting the given work in smaller parts. It also plays an important role in
managing the teams of organisation in smaller parts so that predetermined goals will be achieved
in a given time period. When the team of organisation will be segregated in smaller parts then it
will be helpful in identifying the roles and responsibilities of each team members through which
the organisational goals will be achieved in the given time period. WBS includes various
elements like goods, labour, services etc. which provides profitability to the firm in estimating

Gantt chart: It is defined as the visual representation of the given time period for
completion of project. Gantt chart is very useful for planning and tracking the numerous

the measures which are essential for completing the given project in allotted time period. In this
chart, activities of project are categorised on the basis of a proper time frame. Through this chart,
management can easily determined that what kind of efficiency is required or how much time
will be taken by the employees for completing the given task (Smyth, 2012).

Small Scale Research – It can be defined as the systematic study of a specific topic
through using different kind of scientific methods so that feasible solutions can be founded. In
addition to this, Research is an appropriate method which is to conducted or executed in proper
manner so that desired solution on a selected topic can be received. There are two kinds of
research such as primary and secondary which is briefly discussed as under:
Primary research: It is considered as costly method for conducting research because it
emphasis the researcher to collect fresh data through using various sources like
questionnaire, panel interviews etc. for getting fresh and new data, it is mostly preferred
by the researcher but it needs a huge funds and time for conducting the research
programme in an effective manner (Fisher, 2011).
Secondary research: It is considered as optional but important method of research
programme. It also provide relevant information to the researcher about research topic
with a minimum time and cost required for completing the research programme. In this,
researcher can use books and articles of different authors or newspapers for collecting the
data. The gathered information by using this information is less reliable then primary
method (Aibinu, 2013).
In this research, Researcher have to use qualitative and quantive method of research

Qualitative research: It is very beneficial for the researcher because with the help of

reliable data can be gathered. It also saves the time and money of researcher so that research

researcher can use questionnaire, panel interviews etc. so that reliable data can be received for
selected topic of research (Fageha,2013).
Quantitative research: It is dynamic in nature in which information is gathered in
statistical manner so that a valid conclusion can be formulated at the end of research. In this
