This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to evaluate and enhance own practice through a process of
reflection and ongoing professional development.
This unit applies to workers in all industry sectors who take pro-active responsibility for their own
professional development.

Reasonable Adjustments: Gowrie Victoria will provide opportunities for flexible assessment. If you believe
you require assessment adjustment which can include things such as allowing additional time, the use of a
computer to respond to written tasks or verbal clarification of written answers etc.
Reasonable adjustments can be made as above and Gowrie Victoria offers learner support in the form of
eLearning resources (eLearn site), study support sessions, Facilitator availability before and after classes,
email/phone correspondence with learners and meetings as required.
Assessments decisions:

requirements) or Not Yet Satisfactory (Not Yet meeting all unitrequirements)

Re-submissions: You will be permitted one re-submissionofeach task provided that the task was originally
submitted by the due date.Ifan requires a re-submission, your Facilitator
will fill out a re-Submission action plan and will discuss resubmission requirements directly withyou.
This single re-submission must be submitted within the timeframe designated by your Facilitator inthe action
plan. Failure to re-submit by the designated due date will result in (NYS)of that . If
you do not meet the requirements of the re- submission action plan or do not re-submit by the designated date,
you will be required to re-enrol in the unit/s and undergo re-assessment which may incur additional fees as
detailed in the LearnerHandbook.
Appeals: If you are dissatisfied with an assessment outcome, you should discuss the matter with your
Facilitator within 5 working days of receiving the assessment outcome. If you are not satisfied with the

For this part you will be reflecting on and assessing your professional practice for working in an
early childhood service. Professional practice might include for example: interactions with children,
team work, following service policy and procedures, supporting children’s play and learning,

I have discussed my professional practice as a mentor of the child educators with my supervisors.
Mentoring is the professional practice in which role is to create a synergistic match that could build better
outcomes in the others. As the mentor the role will be to set the achievable goals for the mentees. The
supervisor stated that mentoring an educator is all about establishing the relationship by showcasing the
adequate skills and competencies to support the learning for the educators. The key role of this professional
practice of mentoring is all about the advice, guidance, support and assistance.

For the improvement of my professional practice of mentoring I have
chosen the skills development area. Skills development is key area to be
focused by the me during mentorship to support and help the educators or

For my professional practice the chosen area learning and development of the children
regarding skill development by building relationship of engagement and trust. In this I am
good at building the relationship with the mentees with trust and honesty. Also for that I

meaningful. Also the I am doing well in building trusting relationship with effective

I was facing issue in the communication with the educator.

I faced challenge regarding the effective self-assessment and quality improvement process
in the professional practice.
I also encountered the challenge regarding the clarity of my goals and objectives in
educating a mentee as I was not well versed with my roles and responsibilities as a mentor
that also diminished my proficiency in decision making and operations of the services.

I personally have a belief that for me to become a good mentor firstly I must be an effective
listener and good communicator to the others as this will help me to build a trust in my

I highly value governance of this professional practice as guides all aspects of the services
and operations of this professional practice.
I also value the right of participation among the children or the mentee as the mentorship is
the collaborative partnership.
I value the parent’s views and family support, cultures, decision making in children’s
wellbeing. This help me in my professional practice in building a supportive relationship
with the mentees.

As per my co- worker my communication skills are my key strength. In order to
improve in skills development of mentees and the build relationship and
engagement with trust the co-worker suggested me to use my strength of
commination skill in interacting with the mentee and also through I must reach
them in effective manner more as a supporter. Also it was suggested that I should
reinforce active collaborative learning and development of skills as through this
