Activity 1: Report for senior manager

To: Senior management
Date: 20-12-2019

recommendations and action plan. These are specific criteria that will ensure effective review
policy for Westpac. There are nine issues that are mentioned in detail and recommendations are
provided for each issue that the organization faces.

and sustainability measures (Swarnalatha & Prasanna, 2013). An action plan need to be taken to
make sure that sustainable measures will save the electricity, gas and water bills. High energy
consumption will lead to increase in cost of a product and service.
Causes: There are possible causes that affect sustainability and environmental measures. The
reasons for the issues that the organization faces are lack of staff engagement, poor purchasing
process and staff forgetfulness. Employees are not engaged in the work practices and therefore
they do not pay attention to the duties and work responsibilities (Talib, 2013). This seems to be a
major drawback for the organization as staff involvement will lead to success of the organization
and will ensure sustainability. Staff completely lacks purchasing process and are poor decision
makers (Shahid & Azhar, 2013). Apparently when staff do not engage in several activities in
saving electricity, gas and water, they become forgetful and are not concerned about the wastage.
Therefore, organization face these issues due to lack of staff engagement. Motivation and
training should be provided to staff for effective work performance.
Employee engagement will have a positive impact on the overall business performance.
Motivation and training provided to staff will encourage them to focus on business objectives
and achieve specific objectives (Osborne & Hammoud, 2017). Employees do not take initiative
in upgrading the performance which lets them disengaged and demotivated. Quality work
attributes are missed by employees due to employee disengagement. Employees break rules and
do not concentrate on energy efficient results. Therefore, the problems occur due to resilience
and lack of learning interest. Work motivation is higher as and when employees try to engage
themselves into work fulfillment and tend to reflect on performance criteria. Employees need
training and development to create a work culture that ensures open communication system.
However, certain measures can be make changes in the business and work towards achieving
organizational goals.
Recommendations: The suggestions for the nine issues the company should consider are
Retraining staff for reduced stationary cost
Establish a register that helps to manage the data regarding equipment and services
Purchase suitable size fridge

ASSESSMENT TASK 3 4
New toilet to be purchased with dual flush
Automating lighting
Equipments should be energy efficient
Induction process to new staff
Placing posters near bins for awareness
Replacement of eco friendly vehicle
These recommendations will ensure that the organization will work on sustainability and eco
friendly measures. Staff should consider effective utilization of training programs and induction
process as and when needed. These are the major criteria that should be fulfilled for Westpac
which will ensure sustainability report for the organization. The issues are taken into
consideration so that these issues do not occur in the future. Several recommendations are
discussed by members but it is important to focus on one recommendation for one particular
issue. The action plan is provided in brief which will help to take quick actions by considering
importance of sustainability and environmental measures in the organization.
The problems as reviewed will be considered in the next policy and procedure report which will
engage important aspects to be undertaken in terms of achieving sustainability at workplace.
Employee training will have a positive influence towards attaining organizational goals and
engaging employees for work practices (Sarangi, 2016). Westpac will consider effective work
practices with the help of employee engagement therefore employee training is one such
objective to be mentioned additionally in the next sustainability report. Problems will be reduced
as old equipments will be replaces such as fridge and other items. Continuous improvement need
to be made while addressing important aspect of change and working on towards the goals and
objectives of Westpac.
Conclusion: The report consists of the review of sustainability policy at Westpac. The
organization has implemented sustainability policy for a year and the review report presents the
issues that the organization observes while comparing it to the previous year. There are nine
issues that were described when reviewed by a manager. Demonstrating the recommendations
