with this, by the time, risk in this sector is being increased in day by day manner. Due to this,
number of employees working in this sector has been reducing with the time. Therefore it is very
much important for each and every organization and body which is directly or indirectly related
to this sector to make some plans and policies that will help them in increasing the level of
security for employees working. This all will help the sector by reducing the risk which is
associated with this, and also help in getting employees which are very much capable to do good
work. Home timber and hardware is one of the biggest retail chains of hardware in Australia. As,
they use to provide their products and services in different parts of the nation. In this report, a
WHS (workforce health and safety) management system will get designed by the organization.
This system will help them in setting up some standards that can increase the security of
employees working in this sector.

Workforce health and safety management system is a system which is used by an ample number
of organizations, so that they can ensure some level of safety for the employees working at their
business place. This all will help the business bodies in managing and providing a proactive and
systematic approach of working at their work place, so that safety of organization for employees
can get increased. The main feature of the workforce health and safety management system
designed by home timber and hardware is their safety plan, and monitoring of complete process.
The system designed by them have very accurate safety plan, where they use an ample number
of machineries, that can help them in doing the works like, taking of heavy materials from one
place to another, holding of structure which is not fixed at the place and many other
(Burtonshaw-Gunn, S.A., 2017). These all will help in performing a huge number of risky works
without use of employees, due to which the risk of accident for employees will get reduced with
a huge percentage. Another feature of their management system for workforce health and safety
is monitoring of complete work. This will help organization in monitoring the work which is
performed by their employees, so that they can make changes in their process and increase safety
of their employees. Also, this feature of this management system will help organization in
looking up different activities of their employees, so that they can make alarm about the
upcoming problem and warn their employees to keep them safe.

2. How the proposed WHS management system meets legislative requirements.
Each and every nation of the world has their own rules and regulations related to workforce
health and safety. These rules and regulations help them in providing a working environment for
the employees at work place, where they can perform their operations in very easy manner. Also,
these all help employees by providing surety that the work place of them is very much safe for
them. Also, these rules and regulations ensure some basic criteria which are mandatory for
organization to follow them. Australia is a nation which is very much strict for their rules and
regulations, as they have an ample number of rules and regulations which can employees in
feeling safe while performing their operations at any work place. Work Health and Safety Act
2011, in constitution of Australia used for increase the level of health and security of employees
working in any organization of their nation (Chatterjee, et. al., 2018). In this act, they have
defined some basic rules which organizations have to follow, so that health and safety of
employees do not face any type of risk. Workforce health and safety management system
designed by Home timber and hardware use an ample number of machineries and also they use
to monitor the activity of each and every employee of them. This all helps them in making the
management system as per the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, of Australian constitution.
As this law says about the security level of employees, and the management system also use to
monitor the employees, so that organization can take required steps, for keeping their employees
safe from any type of health and safety issues.

3. The roles, responsibilities, accountabilities required of the duty holders.
Along with machineries, man power is also required by a system, which can work for making the
system more accurate. Also, the man power of the system will help in performing an ample
number of operations with the given machineries in effective manner, so that the work can get
completed in appropriate manner. There are different levels in which man power of a system get
divided. Majorly it gets divided into three level, top management, middle management and
workers. Employees at each and every level their own roles and responsibilities, which they have
to complete so that the work can get completed in effective manner and also the goal of that
work can get achieved in appropriate manner (Serpell, et. al., 2015). Role of top management in
the workforce health and safety management system is to make plans that how they are going to
machineries which they have to so that safety level of their employees will get increased. Also,
they use to monitor the work of each and every element of the system, so that they make the
working of complete system more accurate and secure. Whereas, middle management of the
system have duty to assign work to the last level of the system, so that work can get completed
within fixed time period and also in effective manner. Also, they have duty to manage the work
which they are assigning to their employees, so that the health of their employees does not get
affected due to this. Along with this all these, last level of this management has employees which
use to work for the organization, so that they can help organization in achieving the goals and
objectives in effective manner. Also, it is the duty of employees to make complaint about the
miss happening at the work place to their seniors. This all will help them in from any type of
accident or from health and safety issues.

4. What human, physical and financial resources are required
For any type of management system, an ample number of resources is required by the
organization and individual, so that they can make that system more effective for each and every
one (Akinbile, et. al., 2018). Here, home timber and hardware is designing a management system
for workforce health and safety. For making this system, an ample number of physical and huge
financial resources are required by them. Some of them are detailed beneath –
Human – In this part, man power which is required by the home timber and hardware need for
making a system that will get used managing health and safety of their employees. For this, total
number of 32 humans will be required by the organization. Out of them, 1 will be the senior
manager, which is going to monitor all the work which their subordinates are going to perform. 2
will be store managers that will have duty to assign work to their employees, according to their
capability and competencies (Raj and Wadsamudrakar, 2018). Along with all these, 8 persons are
required that have ability to lead team members, so that team members can perform their
operations in effective manner. For the basic level of working, 20 employees are required that
will perform their work as per the instructions given by their seniors.
Finance – This is one of the most important and required resource for any project. For making a
management system, that can help home timber and hardware in managing workforce health and
safety, funds of 1 million Australian Dollars has been approved by them. The fund which has
been approved for this work depends upon the quotation and requirements raised against them.

Home timber and hardware is an organization which uses to provide products that are useful in
constructing new buildings. They use to provide their products and services in different parts of
Australia. Their aim is to increase the level of security for the employees which are working for
them, so that life of them can get saved by using some easy manner. For this, they have designed
a management system, which can increase the health and security of their employees at work
place (Qazi, et. al., 2016). As the proposed system uses different techniques for performing an
ample number of risky works, so that employee engagement in such work will get reduced. Also,
needs of the organization is to perform their operations in a manner which help them in keeping
their employees safe. The given system will help in meeting these needs of the organization of
increasing the level of security.

increasing the health and safety level of employees working at work place. It is very much

physical manner after meeting an accident. For this, the approach which is used by Home timber

Action taken – This is the step where plans which are designed for managing and
controlling the risk has been taken, so that risk can get controlled and employees can get
secure.
