INTRODUCTION
Employability skills is a set of achievements, understandings as well as personal
attributes which help the individual person in attaining as well as gaining employment and to be
successful in the business. Employees are assets of business entity which helps in attaining goals
and objectives. By using these skills as well as capabilities of employees it helps in improving
growth of enterprise (Jackson, 2014). Organisation can conduct programs like training and
development for their employees which aid in building core competencies. Every manager of the
company wants those employees which having a good knowledge and skills so that they can do
better work in the company and by that company can obtain the goals. The present report focuses
upon BT Group which performs its operational activities in the telecommunication industry.
Higher authorities of BT Group have to focus on skills along with a capabilities of employees
which assist in sustaining their competitive advantage. The below mentioned assignment
discusses on employability skills and kind of motivational techniques that are used by the
manager in increasing motivation among all workers of business entity. Moreover, it also
explains about the strategies related to time management as well as communication styles
among with the strategies which assist in resolving the problems (Ju, S., Zhang and Pacha,
2012).
TASK 1
1.1 Set of own responsibilities and performance and own effectiveness against the defined
objectives.
HR manager has to set their own roles and responsibilities along with a objective of
performance which assist in enhancing the growth. Self management is a important factor in
telecommunication industry as it helps in managing performance. Being an Assistant HR
development manager, I have some responsibilities towards employees as I have to provide
motivation to them by giving rewards or incentives so that they can render best services to the
employees. Moreover, I have to monitor performance of workers by providing feedback. I have
to focus on relations between employees and also help in maintaining trust among human
resource so that conflicts can be reduced among all the staff members of BT Group.
Objectives related to performance of assistant HR development manager should be
related with goals of BT Group (Keller, Parker and Chan, 2011). Some goals are:-

ď‚· Consumer services - I have to give my best performance in industry so that customer can
get effective services as this will help in attracting large number of consumers. Along
with this, they have to provide high quality services which provide satisfaction to them.
ď‚· Select the right employee - Being the HR manager, I have to recruit employees which
have best knowledge as well as skills according to their job profile so that staff members
attain the goals. For recruiting employees, manager can give advertisement on
newspaper and social sites and then they have to use appropriate selection process for
employees within BT Group.
ď‚· I have to follow all laws which are related to health and safety of employees so that the
overall performance can be improved.
HR manager of BT Group can use some approaches which will help in obtaining goals
and objectives. Being the manager of BT Group, I have to focus on my roles so that performance
can be improved in proper as well as in an efficient manner. These objectives related to
responsibilities of manager in the business entity (Lowden and et. al., 2011). Some of these
performance objectives are:-
Quality Services - I have to provide training to employees so that the staff members can
improve their skills as well as knowledge. On the basis of these core aptitudes, they will be able
to provide qualitative services to their consumers and by that they can attain the targets. Along
with this, it also helps BT Group in creating a strong base of consumers. Staff members have to
use effective communication so that they can easily resolve problems of the service users.
Recruitment and selection - For a particular job profile, I have to follow the best
procedure for recruitment and selection of employees. By the proper procedure, BT Group can
able to get killed and qualified workers which will help in gaining competitive advantage in the
market (O'Neil, 2014).
Rules and regulations- Being a manager of BT Group, I have to follow all rules and
regulations as well as laws which are introduced by regulatory bodies which assist in providing
safe and healthy working environment to employees. When the positive environment created for
the staff members of BT Group then they provide the best quality services to the consumers.
Employee relationship- They have to improve relationship among all workers I have to
focus on the team work so that they have to do the proper interaction which can be increased
between all the employees. If the relationship gets improved then conflicts will be reduced.

1.3 Recommendations for improvement
HR manager have to use many approaches which can help in improving business. For
carrying out the changes in BT Group, I can use upgraded technologies so that my skills can be
improved in the proper manner. Continuous training should be provided to the staff members so
that skills get improved and by that the consumers can attain the high quality services. Being an
assistant HR manager, I have to make sure that staff members conduct meetings in a regular
interval which will helps in attaining the leading position in the competitive market. Some
opportunities given to the workers that they can provide their ideas in front of their senior
managers. Along with this, they have to provide unique services with the unique features so that
innovative services can be offered to them. Being a HR, I have to monitor performance of all
staff members according to their tasks so that overall performance can be improved in an
efficient manner. When the employees do good work and to become best manager have to provid
more motivations to them by providing rewards as well as incentives (Omar, Bakar and Rashid,
2012). Moreover, they have to provide proper and positive environment so that they do not face
any problem in doing the work. The members of BT Group have to use proper data base system
so that appropriate information can be stored so that unauthorised user will not be able to access
the information. Workers of BT Group can give suggestions to improve the overall performance
in the market.
1.4 Motivational techniques
HR manager of BT Group have to use motivational techniques so that they can improve
the performance of the employees. According to Maslow's theory, there are five needs which
include psychological, safety, belongingness, esteem and self actualisation of people which helps
in increasing motivation level of workers who work in BT Group. So, I have to focus on these
needs which helps in attaining the leading position in the competitive market. Some techniques
are:-
Positive work environment - If the company provides positive environment for doing
work then employees will be motivated. I have to follow some strategy so that peaceful
environment in BT Group can be created. Along with this, I have to make sure regarding safety
of employees.

Incentives and rewards - Incentives should be given to all workers who are doing the
good work and by this the manager can increase motivation level (Rao, 2014). Along with this
some rewards are also given to the staff members like employee of month etc.
Promotion - It is also another technique which will help in increasing motivation level of
people. By this approach, HR manager will be able to retain workers in BT Group.
Transportation facility - BT Group can offer transportation facilities such as cab as well
as bus to their employees. Manager will be able to enhance motivation level among all the
employees (Rosenberg, Heimler and Morote, 2012).

Being an assistant HR manager of BT Group, I have to conduct training and development
program for their employees so that they can provide quality services to their consumers. Along
with this, I have to ensure that staff members are doing the work in a safe and proper working
environment which assist inobtaining the goals and objectives Along with this it also helps in
improving the performance in the market as well as company also.
TASK 2
2.1 Solution for work based problems
Employees who are working in BT Group may face many obstacles related to their work. Due to
these work based issues the dissatisfaction among all the employees is get enhanced and
organization will not be able to achieve their objectives. It is the responsibility of the HR
manager to provide the solution to these issues so that they can sustain their competitive
advantage in the market. Some of the work based problems are:
Time management: Some of the work based issues are arises due to the mismanagement
of time and employees will not be able to complete their task on time. Due to this, BT Group will
not be able to achieve their objectives (Lowden and et. al., 2011). The HR manager has to
motivate their employees towards their work so that work can be done on time. For example, the
HR manager can use some strategies such as all employees can write their task on a board and
perform according so that time can be managed.
Poor Communication: This is an another work related issue that is arise in the business
organization. When among the employees communication gap then conflicts can be arise in the

company and by that firm will not be able to improve the growth (wilton, 2011). For this, the
manager can provide tasks to the workers in group so that communication gap can be reduced.
Poor leadership: Leaders are the one who lead the business organization towards
success. When a leader not to provide the proper guidelines to their followers so that they can
perform well in the efficient manner. An effective leader should resolve the issues of their
employees so that they can perform well (Wickramasinghe and Perera, 2010).
2.2 Variety of style to communicate at various level in the organisation
In BT Group, there are different levels as well as different techniques of conversation
which can be adopted by the higher authority. BT Group have a different departments so that
they have to do proper communication by using the different forms of communication. The
authority of top management can be communicate with the managers of high level through
meetings or any formal session. There are different type of communication whether it is verbal or
non verbal which can be used by managers to do effective conversation. Another form is written
communication as it can be used by middle level managers (Wibrow, 2011). Strategic level:
This is the highest level where top executives make some decisions and communicate those
decisions to all managers. Along with this it helps in making the important financial decisions so
that they can earn maximum profit. At this level communication is take place in the form of
meetings where managers and leaders will be able to know about the companies polices.
Middle level: Top level managers communicate their decisions to the middle level
managers and these managers communicate to the employees. At this level, these people give the
feedback to the executive about the current policies of the telecommunication industry.
Operational level: This level is also known as functional level where decisions are taken
by the managers of different departments. Some of these functional units are marketing,
production, human resource, sales, research and development(Wilton, 2011).
2.3 Effective time management strategy
In Prince's Trust, the staff members have to use effective time management strategies
include discipline approach can be used which assist in setting the goals and have to manage all
activities so that they can achieve them in a appropriate time. There are some strategies through
which thebusiness entity can manage their time effectively and efficiently:

planning tool which will assist in improving quality of services as well as productivity. It

management. So, the higher authority has to use appropriate method so that they can
attain best possible results and by that they can attain goals and objectives (Zaharim and
et. al., 2010).
Conclusion – From the above task it has been analyzed that they have to use proper time
management strategy for achieving goals and objectives and by that they can provide best quality
services in time.
TASK 3
3.1 Role of an employee in their team to attain the shared goal
In Prince's Trust, working in a team is difficult. In a team, so many people are involved
which having a different skills and talents that's why it is difficult. There are some roles of the
person which have to play in a team so that they can achieve a goals:
Shared responsibilities- When people are working in a team and for that they have to
share the responsibility to get a success. The team is more responsive and more reliable so that
they can provide the best services to the consumers in the best manner which helps in increasing
the efficiency as well as productivity (Employability Skills. 2017).

Commitment to a team goal and plans- The staff members of Prince's Trust have to
focus on every step to achieve the goals. If they are doing changes in the company then they
have to tell to every members of the firm by the effective communication so that they can meet
the objectives.
People oriented goals- In attaining the goals, they have to do proper coordination with
the employees while they are doing team work and coordinator have to provide the proper
guidance so that they can attain the goals and objectives.
3.2 Team dynamics
Team dynamics is an important part of working life. Team dynamics have direct impact
on profitability, staff retention rates, whether the employees are enjoying their work or not and
many more. Tuckman's model includes four stages:-
Forming- The team members becomes familiar with each other. So that roles and
responsibilities of every member so that they can understand with the relevance so that they can
share the goals. It helps new member in building bonding with the older one (The importance of
employability skills. 2017).
Norming- In this stage, every employee discuss about their work with other members. It
is that pointy where information as well as ideas shares with the other person. Along with this,
they have to discuss the technique as well as ways so that they can complete the project on time
which assist in capturing the opportunities for team members.
Storming- In this stage, all the members discuss about their roles and responsibilities so
that they can perform well in the organisation. This will help in reducing the conflicts in the
organization. Along with this, they have to do work with the proper coordination (Employee
Motivation Techniques. 2017).
Performing- It is the last stage in which all team members have to complete their task as
per the discussion made in storming stage so that the goals can be achieved .
3.3 Alternatives to complete task and attain team goals
Prince's Trust having big structure of organisation which assist in applying different
methods so that they can complete the task on time. To obtain goals they have to carry out
effective communication between them and have to do proper interaction process also be there.
If there is no good communication then conflicts can occur in the business entity (Baker and
Henson, 2010). The managers have to effectively communicate with the employees time to time

so that they can encourage members regarding their work. The manager has to develop a support
system in the team work for those members who are suffering from the work pressure. There are
also another alternative ways which assist Prince's Trust in completing the task and achieving the
long term goals. If there is a lack of communication between the team members then managers
have to conduct training and development programme for employees to carry out effective of
communication. For every organisation, it is significant that they have to make communication
process is effective between every employees and volunteers. Another method is innovation in
which manager has to provide proper information and for that they have to conduct training
session for the staff members so that they can become successful in providing services to the
consumers (Bourner, Greener and Rospigliosi, 2011).

helps in measuring preference for nine team roles. It is a tendency to behave, contribute and
interrelate with others in a particular way. Strength of this theory is that in every situation they

goals. Limitation of this theory is that the manager of Prince’s Trust has to make proper design
so that they can do proper work.

4.1 Evaluation of the methods which are used in to develop solution of problems
The manager of Prince’s Trust has to focus on different aspects of problem which are
helpful in providing solutions. They have to apply some tools and techniques which assist in
developing solution of problem (Husain and et. al., 2010).

Algorithms- This is a tool which is used by the company to identify the solution for the
problem which they are facing. They have to provide accurate results which is beneficial for the
staff members to maintain the standards. But sometime it cannot give proper results to Prince's
Trust as it is difficult to implement for the managers (Bridgstock, 2011).
Heuristics- This method is based on experience. In this, the manager learns from last
problem that this problem can be easily resolved in the proper way so that they can hit the
targets. Sometime, in a company problems can be arise in the continuous process and this
technique may not solve the difficult situations.
Trail and error method- This method is used by the staff members of Prince's Trust to
implement the new idea. It assist in making changes in the process anytime when they feel that
this idea can helps the business entity in attaining the goals and objectives (Bunney and Therry,
2013).
4.2 The strategy for resolving problem
In Prince's Trust, there are always new member who face problems regarding work and
manager of the company have to solve that problem. There are four steps which assist business
entity to resolve the problem on time. These steps are:
ď‚· The manager has to understand problem first which the staff members are facing while
doing the work. Along with this, they have to find the reasons of the problem (Dhiman,
2012).
ď‚· Then the manager has to set appropriate plan for resolving the problem. While making
the plan, the manager is required to set alternatives of the plan so that they can choose the
best one.
 After that, the manager of Prince’s Trust has to implement proper plan to complete the
task in time. Implementation can be done in a proper time so that appropriate actions can
be taken. There are also different alternatives which are available to get best possible
outcomes from the results (Hind and Moss, 2012).
ď‚· The last step is that they have to evaluate the plan and also have to check solution for the
problem and measure it with the standard. If any defect is found then the managers have
to identify reason that what is the main problem which cannot be solve by them.

The business strategy has positive impact on business entity if the business policies are
applied in a proper manner. These strategies can be used by the new members of the company
and it having a impact on the retention of employees (Gravells, 2010). Employee retention helps
in attaining goals and objectives. The manager of Prince’s Trust has to provide proper training
to employees so that they do not face any problems and by that they can easily attain goals and
objectives. The new employees sometimes do not require training session as the old members
provide all information that what they work and how they are doing their work as they are
having the experience since many years. The staff members of Prince's Trust have to follow
proper culture so that they can effectively communicate with employees and on the basis of that
they can build strong relations with thehuman resource. The manager has to use proper solution
which will help in resolving the problems. By applying the business strategies, it affects the new
employees because sometime manager face a difficulty in conducting the training programme for
them. So, the new members have to know about culture from the old person of Prince's Trust so
that they can attain the goals and objectives (Holmes, 2013).
Conclusion- From the above task, it has been concluded that they have to follow appropriate
tools and techniques in resolving problems so that they can easily attain the goals and
objectives.

motivational technique so that they can provide the encouragement to the employees like
incentives, rewards as well as promotion so that motivation level of the workers increased and by

members which helps them in providing the qualitative services to the consumers and by that
company can attain the leading position in the competitive market. Higher authorities of BT

generated in the organisation and find the solutions to resolve the problems so that they can
enhance the growth in the market. Some of the motivational techniques such as promotion,
rewards, incentives, positive environment can be used by the HR manager so that employees feel
motivated and they will work hard in order to achieve overall objectives.
