OVERVIEW
Pedagogic resource are known as tools that are used in the education sector for having
convenience in learning and teaching. This includes software which can be used in learning and
teaching and they have different characteristics. I have designed a pedagogic resource which I
will use while teaching in health and social care subject. My students are helped by using the
new pedagogy design as this enables me to know my students in effective manner and enhance
the way in which they learn things. There is a stretch and challenge grid that helps students in
enhancing higher order thinking abilities and skills within examinations like Daly Baird
Chamberlain & Meadows and classrooms. This paper has the ability to provide knowledge
about various literature sources of different authors. The stretch and challenge model is known as
a model which needs teachers and students to analyse that learning should be difficult. This
challenge means knowing students in well manner by combining soft as well as hard data that
enables in making good decisions for learning of students. It is not easy for me to implement this
model as it requires to be implemented in a correct manner. When this model is applied in a
proper manner, it can help in yielding positive results. This model enables to set a limit on
abilities of students and this causes to underperform.

As per the context of pedagogic intervention, teaching has an essential aspect which is
learning and a teacher is successful when he or she is able to make others learn. The perception
regarding role of teacher for any individual is very different than actual role that a teacher has to
play while tutoring. According to the viewpoint of Le Franois, the role of teaching consists of
various roles and main thing is to develop strategies that will help in making people learn
effectively. It helps in attaining specific goals. Some of the responsibilities that teachers have to
perform are effective communication, motivation, leadership, discipline, behaviour management
and classroom management. A teacher has to effectively communicate the lessons to learners and
provide them motivation so that they will concentrate on their studies. Another important role of
teacher is to maintain discipline in classroom and handle all management. In today's world,
teaching is not just of the academic aspect, it also includes different issues like motivating

learners, supporting them and guide them to work in right direction. Teaching concept also
includes well being as well as pastoral. When teacher is concerned about well being of his or her
learners then it is easy to develop positive relation with students. This is helpful for managing
the actions of learners and teaching them properly. I have developed pedagogic resource for
improving the learning of students in a Health and Social Care BTEC Level environment. I am a
trainee teacher and while adopting stretch and challenge model the main challenge I faced is
thinking of students. This pedagogic resource consists of three separate grids. The first one is
subject specified tasks as well as questions which are mapped to the curriculum. This provides
me the opportunity to accomplish many questions and tasks while explaining lessons. This can
also be provided as student's homework. In this grid, students can easily keep track by crossing
off the tasks and challenges of them as soon as they finish them. It is easier for me to provide my
students higher order thinking skills by adopting the stretch and challenge model. Also, this
saves my time while teaching different individuals. The reason for me to develop the stretch and
challenge model is to provide good knowledge to whole class. It consists of providing
knowledge to whole class and making all students to learn and evaluate any model's affectivity. I
have used the stretch and challenge model for analysing the level or extent to which students can
work. It helps in knowing all the factors that affect a student's learning. According to me, it is
important for students to have challenge in academic life so that they can achieve goals and
objectives. I want my students to analyse their work and overcome all the challenges faced by
while learning. There are different challenges of different students and my teaching habit
changed according to that student. There is impact on learning and teaching assessment due to
the common Inspection Framework. It is important for me as a teacher that all students must be
involved in providing right kind of learning and development strategies. Students will achieve
success and growth in their academic career. I have involved stretch and challenge method and
lessons in my tutoring style. I have developed various strategies and plans for making my
students learn and develop their knowledge as well as skills. There are different elements of
teaching including planning lessons for students, setting objectives, resource development and
working with students. I have developed profile for resources and elements which are important
for ensuring the progress of learners and knowledge regarding learning. Different areas of
teaching practise across different areas are adopted for providing good services to students and
learners. The subject considered is BTEC LEVEL Health and Social Care. The basic objective of

me to use stretch and challenge model is to develop abilities and skills in my students that can
help me to support individuals in various situations that occur in health and social care. Students
are provided knowledge related to how people are treated and provided well being. It is
important for me to tell them how they are going to react in different business situations. I have
adopted a personal centred approach so that I can effectively communicate my views and ideas
to students. Students are provided effective learning by enhancing knowledge regarding the ways
that safeguards , protects and implement duty of care within organisation. There are various

There are different theories of learning that are applied for supporting the human behaviourism
as well as cognitivism. The first focus of individual is depending upon individuals as a subject.
As it is said that learning is a continuous process and individuals can learn different activities and
skills throughout their lives. The main thing on which the learning of a person depends is
safeguarding and protecting duty of care within the organisation. I have applied various theories
which are involved in managing and selecting different models that support humanism
behaviourism and cognitivism. The main focus is on the value and importance is associated with
the inner world of individual. Within a learning process, emotions, thoughts and feelings of an
individual are included in learning process. In context of the stretch and challenge grid, I have
adopted this model for develop learners on the options such as independence and resilience. I
have always concerned about motivating and encouraging my learners for thriving as well as
leveraging the abilities and awareness. The main objective for designing pedagogic resource for
a person of health and social care learner is helping all the learners to attain higher-order thinking
skills. Another factor that is considered while designing the pedagogic resource was
Behaviourism which means the development of this resource includes the analysis of nehaviour
of individual in different situations. I have used the system of reward as well as punishment in
my class for improving the behaviour and process in which a person works. I provide rewards
and appreciation to students who are doing well. On the other hand, I punish those learners who
are not giving proper attention in classes and maintaining their work. My class is entailing
a learning process and behaviour modification which is improvised by the positive or negative
reinforcement of ideas. As per the viewpoint of Rogers, the behavioural theory is very essential
as it is helpful in managing classrooms effectively. When I will know the behaviour of all

students, it is good for me to know what exactly every person wants and I will provide them with
the treatment which they want. This is helpful in managing classrooms and effectively avoiding
all the fights and conflicts that can occur. It is essential for me to analyse the behaviour of
students and provide them effective learning. This will be helpful in managing work in proper
manner. I can easily adopt stretch and challenge grid as it is important for me to implement the
resources as it is influential for the behaviour that is possessed by various students and learners.
According to Behaviourism theory learners improve their learning skills by the repeated
management practices that are provided in classroom. The behaviourism theory is used basically
for academic purposes. Another theory that is considered while learning process is cognitive
theory. This includes that all students and learners are involved in the activities and tasks of
classrooms. Yilmaz - I have adopted the stretch and challenge approach for learning as it is
helpful for the students to organise and associate the new knowledge that is given to the students
or learners. I ask my students to rewrite the work or lesson that I have taught in class as
homework. I provide my students proper guidance and help in order to make them achieve their
academic goals. My students must focus on input of teaching. This means that whatever is learnt
in class has to become schema or existing knowledge. This is dependent upon the basis of
progress of students or learner. I have applied this as the base for providing knowledge to the
students and making them learn new things. I will improve the learning outcomes that depends
upon various theories. This includes analysing various strategies which includes providing
unified themes for making the content meaningful and instructional material by selecting texts. I
make my students write their content in systematic manner and write their assignments and
homework in effective manner. There is a standard arrangement which is used by me for meeting
the needs and expectations of students. This includes concentrating more and paying more
attention for analysing the way in which students are thinking and concentrating on their work. I
use blooms taxonomy in my lesson planning. This is very important for development of proper
learning outcomes and aims.
As per the views of Gravells, the use of Blooms taxonomy is helpful for students as well
as learners for creating, evaluating, analysing, applying, understanding, remembering and
analysing the lesson or concept which was taught in class. The Blooms taxonomy is associated
with stretch and challenge grid resource as it is helpful in estimating the way in which the brain
of learners work. This means they know what is the information needed for managing work.

Within the pedagogic grid, I have used this grid for determining various questions and tasks that
are included within my learning sessions. I take care of emotions and feelings of my learners and
try to make them understand what work is and how it is carried out. I give them different
situations and make them say in what manner they are going to behave in this particular
situation. This develops gain of knowledge by creative thinking skills. When I will apply the
stretch and challenge grid under blooms taxonomy, it is easy to improve performance of learner
or student. This can be explained by an example, there was a research conducted in Ireland and
England and this shows the way in which academic performance can be improved by stretch and
challenge grid. Gravells – As per his viewpoint, the humanistic theory of learning and providing
motivation are best techniques for making learners to enhance their knowledge in health and
social care effectively. By using this approach, there is need of investigation and I analyse all
the requirements and needs of learners. I do not direct the activities of learners but I just act as a
facilitator. This helps in providing guidance in doing great role. I provide support to all my
learners and provide them a sense of self realisation that whether they are doing great work or
not. The learners whom I am teaching are given sense of freedom for exploring what are the
interests of them and what new discoveries and things that they are going to offer. Humanistic
theory is associated with the stretch and challenge grid as it is helpful in promoting the relation
among learners and teachers. This theory is applied in the teaching activity for promoting
classroom behaviour and management. Different motivational theories are there which are used
for providing learners effective area to stay and learn new things. This is helpful in increasing
the level of behaviour theories within the organisation. From the results of research conducted in
England, it is analysed that humanistic theory is helpful for students and learners for managing
transformation. This also helps in enhancing the results and performance.

ASSESSMENT - Assessment is known as an essential factor of the learning process and it is
helpful in estimating the performance of student within class. It is essential to motivate students
and make them learn new things effectively. By the assessment, I will be able to know what are
the ways in which students can analyse their work. I have kept students in continuous
assessment tests and examinations for providing them to attain efficient assessment and learning
time.
Motivation - Also another factor that provides the opportunity for effective learning is
motivation. The learners must be provided motivation and encouraged for making their work in
effective manner. There are students who needs motivation for doing their work and this is
helpful for providing them effective surrounding. I have ensured that planing and managing of
all the students is important for knowing how work is done and how individuals work within
health and social care course.
English, maths and digital skills – It is essential for me to make the delivery flexible by
ensuring that learners are meeting all the criteria in effective manner. It is important for me to
analyse that learners are meeting the criteria assigned and this needs awarding body. This criteria
follows the to tackle all the assessment related to occupational subject curriculum which in this
case is the health and social care. It is important for students to develop skills such as English
Maths and digital skills for tackling different activities. I will develop English skills in my
students by making them involve in various academic vocabulary. Maths skills are developed by
making them analyse various figures, facts and statistics. Maths skills include the way in which
all things are calculated effectively. It is essential for me to make my students have all the skills
of English, maths and digital skills. These are helpful for enhancing the ability for managing
work.
