Introduction
The report is been designed for the purpose of gaining proper knowledge about the
different theories that are used in successful development of a project. The project aims at
assisting the team for managing the new musical festival that will be organized at local town
Hall. Thus as a sabbatical officer it is important to provide the student union with proper project
management knowledge so that they can carry out the project efficiently. The objective of the
report is to focus on comparing the most efficient project management methodologies that can be
used within the execution of the project, developing network diagram, analyzing the key
stakeholders and managing the possible risks.
Project management methodologies
The combination of different practices, methods and process used for developing a
project successfully is known as Project management methodology. The methods are further
used for planning, developing, controlling and delivering a project. With the help of project
management methods it becomes easy to execute the project. The key phases that are associated
with the project development our project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control
and lastly the closer phase (Alghail, Yao and Kie 2017). With the use of these project
management methodologies it becomes easy to organize the components of the project (Karaman
and Kurt 2015).
Waterfall methodology
Waterfall project management methodology is considered to be the oldest methodology.
Waterfall model focuses entirely on requirements so that it can offer better projected towards the

customer. Waterfall model is divided into discrete stages and ensures that every phase has been
developed with the proper requirements (Ajam 2018). The waterfall management ensures that
the manager is capable of designing the requirement so that the time can be organized properly.
Waterfall model is mainly suitable for the projects that are short and simple and has a clear and
fixed requirement.
The key benefits that are offered with the use of waterfall model are listed below:
 Waterfall model offers the easy understanding towards the customers as there is a
different division at the stages.
 The structure of the waterfall model is rigid and it became easy to manage the results.
 The documentation associated with the waterfall model can be prepared at the early stage.
Besides these the disadvantages that are associated with the waterfall model are:
 It becomes a difficult to manage the resources as there is no going back to the earliest
stage possible.
 Lack of flexibility hampers the development of the project (Lee et al. 2018).
Agile methodology
An agile project management methodology is another software development processes
that is used for managing the different complex projects. The key phases that are associated with
the agile are scanning for the emerging trends and analyzing the information that leads to
developing decisions and solution, responding to the opportunities and risks and influencing the
future environments (Davis 2012). Agile methodology is best suited for the project that does not
have any fixed end release and the project needs to accommodate the quick changes.

The advantages that are associated with the agile Project management methodology are
listed below:
 Offers huge flexibility towards the development of the project
 Allows incremental changes at different phases
 Agile methodology is suited for creative project execution
 The risks associated with project are very low
Apart from this, the other disadvantages that are associated with the agile project
management methodologies are listed below:
 There is no fixed plan for developing the project
 Scheduling becomes difficult (Nicholas and Steyn 2017)
 Need high collaboration
 Time consuming process
Critical path method
Critical path methods have emerged from the software development concept. Critical
path methods are also used for non-software related projects. In the critical path method it
becomes easy to categories the activities that are needed to be executed within the project. Once
the project durations and activities are identified within the project then it becomes easy to
organize the different phases related to the project (Fang, Marle and Xie 2016). This
methodology is considered to be an efficient methodology as this helps in providing better
solution towards the complex project.
The key advantages that are offered with the use of critical path method methodology are
listed below:

 These offer a better scheduling
 Offers better management of the activities
 Interdependencies can be determined easily with the help of these method
 Prioritizes the activities based on the critical and non-critical tasks (Joslin 2019)
Apart from this the other disadvantages that are offered are listed below:
 There is no flexibility offered towards the project managers
 Scheduling needs high experience
 Changing requirements during the project execution cannot be integrated within the
project

Stakeholder analysis
Stakeholder analysis is referred to the process that is used for the purpose of identifying
the people that are associated with the project. It is important to identify the major stakeholders
that will be responsible for organizing a project. With the help of stakeholder analysis it becomes

easy to identify the interest, influence and the participation of each stakeholder within a project.
This also helps in determining how the communication is carried out between the different
stakeholder groups (Ghasemi et al. 2018). The main reason behind performing stakeholder
analysis is to enlist the main stakeholders that are responsible for influence the project. This also
helps in proper alignment between the stakeholders. Apart from this, stakeholder analysis helps
in resolving the conflict between the members. Hence it is important for the project manager to
identify the key stakeholders and dear role within the project so that communication can be
processed properly.
The internal stakeholders that are associated with the project are the union executive, the
team of student, project manager, members participating in the event and organizational
executive. Apart from these the other stakeholders that are associated with the project designer,
the director, cast and crew, photographer, advertising media and costume designer (Pace 2019).
With the help of these stakeholders it becomes easy to manage the overall activities that will be
associated with the event organizing project by Bucks student’s union. It is important to ensure
that every member works effectively for meeting the objective of the project.
