The Impact of Bug Club Software Digital Technology in Infant School

This project investigates the impact of Bug Club software, a digital reading program, on the learning outcomes at Dorothy Barley Infant School. The research includes a literature review, a project management plan with defined aims, objectives, and research questions, and a Gantt chart for time management. A small-scale questionnaire was administered to teachers to gather their perspectives on the software's benefits, limitations, and challenges. The findings reveal insights into teachers' experiences, including the frequency of software use, perceived improvements in children's learning skills, and challenges such as software lag and limited e-book availability. The project concludes with an analysis of the data, offering recommendations for software improvement and reflecting on the research process. The total budget for the research was £2300 and the researcher took 60 days to accomplish the aim and objectives of the study. The study provides valuable insights into the integration of digital technology in early childhood education.

Background of Study
Digital technologies such as cloud computing, mobile communication, computer
technologies which are used by the organisations in order to enhance the efficacy in their
business operations. Digital technologies are widely used by the management of organisations in
order to reduce their cost, time and efforts and to improve the quality and quantity of
productivity (Topol and Hill, 2012). Bug Club is a powerful whole school reading programme
that is proven to raise attainment in reading and is loved by over a million children globally. In
this context, the focus of research is to analyse the impact of the software in Dorothy Barley
Infant School, United Kingdom. To enhance the comprehension skills of children, teachers and
school authorities have implemented the use of Bug Software digital technologies within the
premises. The researcher will focus on the impact of this software on children learning and
comprehending skills. In the research, researcher will prepare robust project management plan
stating aim, objectives, scope and research questions of project. Furthermore, researcher will
carry out small scale research in order to gather the views of teachers regarding benefits or
limitations of software and will provide recommendations so that software can be utilised in

more precisely. Eventually, researcher will provide self reflection on the value of undertaking the
research to meet stated objectives and own learning.

Dorothy Barley Infant School.”

Interpretation: The questionnaire survey has been conducted at Dorothy Barley Infant School,
researcher provided the questionnaire to the participants which were teachers who currently
working in the school. Researcher first asked them to specify their gender. From the sample of
20 teachers, it was identified that 6 were males and 20 were females. This implied that amount of
female teachers was greater than males.

Interpretation: The questionnaire survey has been conducted at Dorothy Barley Infant School,
researcher provided the questionnaire to the participants which were teachers who currently
working in the school. In the questionnaire, researcher asked this question to teachers in order to
know their working experience at school. From analysing the sample of 20 teachers it was
identified that 11 teachers have experience from 0 to 5 years, 5 teachers have experience of 5 to
10 years and 4 teachers have experienced of 10 years and above. From this analysis, it can be
understood that majority of teachers have teaching experience of less than 5 years.

Interpretation: In the questionnaire survey conducted at Dorothy Barley Infant School,
researcher inquired the participants which were teachers who worked at the school in order to
gather information regarding the use of Bug Club software to provide teaching to children. From
the analysis of sample of 20 teachers, it was identified that 10 teachers said that it has been used
recently by the school authorities. 5 teachers said that Bug Club software has been used since 5
years in the school and 5 teachers have no idea about the implementation of Bug Club software
in school. Thus, from the analysis, it can be understood that Bug Club software has been used
recently within the school to provide education to the children.
