Executive summary
A home is a dwelling place which in most cases is used permanently or semi-permanently
residence for a family, an individual, and households or sometimes a large group of families.
This report involves designing a building which will act as a home for seven people of which
four of them are adults, two are children under the age of 12 years, and one is a disabled and
wheelchair bound adult. The building which is proposed comprises of six bedrooms, one
study room, and a music room. The music room will be treated with special acoustic
materials in order to enhance the control of noise in the proposed building. Due to the
handicapped and wheelchair-bound adult, the house will have a ramp to facilitate his/her
movements within the building. Further relevant information regarding the materials used
will be given in detail.
Materials for the music room and their advantages.
For the music room, the materials used for the walls should be sound proofing in order to
enhance sound control. The noise from the music hall should be controlled in order to reduce
annoying noises to other rooms. Some of the materials that can be used for the music room
include:

Advantages
1) Improved safety
By using acoustic materials, it greatly helps to reduce the risks which are associated with loud
noise. The children who are under the age of 12 years can have their eras destroyed in case
they are exposed to high levels of noise. By use of this materials the safety of the kinds in the
proposed home is enhanced (Trubiano, 2015, p. 349).
2) They create a welcoming environment.
By using the above-mentioned materials in the music room, it is very hard for the noise of the
music being played to get into the other rooms such as the bedrooms and the lounge. As there
are very low levels of noise in the other rooms thus creating a pleasant and welcoming

Conclusion
In conclusion, a home is a dwelling place which in most cases is used permanently or semi-
permanently residence for a family, an individual, and households or sometimes a large group
of families. There is need to do proper location of spaces according to their use and making
informed decisions regarding the selection of materials to be used in the building (Trubiano,
2015, p. 34).
In this proposal the location of the given spaces was guided by the relationship between them.
For instance, the kitchen, dining, and lounge have a very close relationship, and due to that,
they had to be closely linked. The study room was located far from the music room so as to
achieve a conducive environment for studies. The stairs and the ramp had to be located
together so that it was possible to define the access point to the upper level.
As per the number of occupants four of the adult bedrooms are ensuite while the two of them
are four the children under the age of twelve. I provided a unique design of a washroom for
the designed handicapped and wheelchair-bound adult (australianfloorplans.com, 2016, p.
